Recent technological advances have made filmmaking more accessible for amateur and low-budget filmmakers. Cheap digital cameras, mobile phones, YouTube and online video distribution, and HD cameras have lowered production costs and barriers to entry, allowing more people to record and distribute movies. Additionally, cheap digital editing software has enabled more films to be produced and edited on a limited budget. These technologies have led to an increase in both the quantity and quality of films produced with lower budgets.
