A True Authority Figure
One Tiger Passed On To the people of Boston or who those this concerns: bullying declares the
strength or effect to scare someone, cyberbullying involves tormenting, harassing, or threatening of
a young person using the internet or technology devices. Individuals who become bullied are two to
nine times more likely to consider committing suicide ( Cyber BullyingFacts ). My condolences go
to those impacted by the tragic loss. A situation like this couldn t have ended any worse, however it
should have resolved less painfully by authorityfigures. Throughout Phoebe Prince s story a true
authority figure appears to be missing entirely. Phoebe Prince, 15 years old, moved from County
Clare in Ireland to South Hadleylooking to continue enjoying the teenage life. Only to come to find
out, students in a little town could cause a wake of pain. The bullying became strong and ruthless.
Some peers called her the Irish slut on social network sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). She constantly
struggled with people in school knocking items out her hands, things thrown at her, and received
threatening text messages. In the middle of January, Phoebe hit rock bottom. She became
tormented and terrorized in the school library and hallways. That same day, Phoebe walked home
from school and then suddenly, one of the instigators threw a Red Bull can as she drove by. Phoebe
came home and hung herself in the stairwell defeating her pain. It didn t stop there. Students

Project Plan And Workflow For Complete The Final Video
Project Methodology:
In this chapter, I present the project plan and workflow I used to complete the final video. In the
last part I discuss other software programs used to accomplish other tasks in the post production
stage.
Production Workflow:
The process to complete the insertion of a CG into a life footage is the same as a media production
workflow. The matchmoving process is part of an animation workflow which is part of the
production
workflow. To achieve the final footage there is need to incorporate inherit workflows together.
Video Production Workflow:
To create a film, the process need to follow the basis of the media production workflow.

This is the main focus of this project.
After my research into the matchmoving workflow, I decided to create an adaptation of a workflow
that
will suit this project.
Figure 2: A basic VFX workflow showing the production stages.
I decided to combine the production workflow and the basic matchmoving workflow so as to
accommodate
changes during the project. In figure1 below it shows a basic animation production workflow with
the
corresponding video production stages and figure2 is a basic matchmove workflow with the
different
production stages. The incorporation of CG into a live footage involves a large scale of processes.
Figure 3: A basic Matchmove workflow showing production stages.
In a simple VFX scene, the animator is responsible for the 3D creation, a visual artist is
responsible for the composite and the key role is played by the matchmover who create the CG
camera
from the real camera and ensure others have the generated CG scene to work with. The
matchmoving
usually happens early in the production workflow.
Figure 4: Adapted Workflow for the project.
I was able to derive this workflow for the insertion of the 3D into the live action footage. The
production is divided into 3 stages as a normal video production process.
Pre Production: I decided to have this into 2 stages. The first stage was a plan of the video
sequence plot.
The evaluation stage is a part of the matchmoving process but doesn t

Research Paper On Pronghorn
Once an upon a time, there were a group of cute creature living in the in Wyoming, called
jackalope. They are not simple animals of earth because they have magic, which make them
different from the surrounding. Oh you may ask how great is their magic? Well, it just can protect
their safety for living in the earth help them change the appearance. This camouflage cover them as
the appearance of the normal habit. However, if they touch the body of the pronghorn accidentally,
they will come out in one s true color without control with a pair of deerantlers on their heads.
Fortunately, since the carefulness of the jackalope, the chance for them to meet the pronghorn is
quiet rare. For a very long time, human have no idea about their existence

Separation Of The Proteins Involved
Separation of the proteins involved in both species blood and serum revealed that each was
composed of a major protein. A prominent protein in the rabbit blood was found accumulating at
approximately 13kDa, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. It was concluded that this protein was
most likely hemoglobin, given the weight and large amount present in all blood due to its necessary
function of transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body. Hemoglobin is a
tetrameric proteinof about 64.5 kDa, consisting of two chains and two chains which breaks down
into each subunit having an approximate weight of 15kDa (Yu et al, 1997). This was in correlation
with the data present in Figure 1, given that the major protein present in rabbit blood was
approximately 13kDa, which would be the subunits that make up hemoglobin.
We hypothesized that similar proteins would also be present in bovine blood, yet the major band
present in this sample was located at much higher molecular weight of approximately 45 kDa.
Potential causes in weight differences could be the longer amino acid sequence present in rabbit
hemoglobin, 170 amino acids, versus the 145 amino acids present in bovine hemoglobin, yet this
would result in bovine being further down on the gel versus what is actually shown (Altschul et al,
1997). Given the data obtained, potential misidentification of hemoglobin appearing as the main
protein present or possible error in lane one (rabbit blood), could explain the anomaly in

Essay on War on Terror
On september 11, 2001 there was an attack on America. Four airplanes were hijacked, two were
crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, the third crashed into the Pentagon in D.C.
and the fourth got stopped by a passenger. It was the first terrorist attack on the U.S. soil.
Thousands of lives were lost that day. This attach was the most devastating act of belligerence on
U.S territory since the Civil War (Terrorism, 2011). This even had an enormous influence on
America and its history. It led to numerous short and long term effects. On September 20, 2001,
former president George W. Bushannounced publicly that he declares War on Terror . After this

TSA is able to open and search passenger s luggage for security screening, not many people like
this ability. In some cases the agents don t replace the locks or close them properly. TSA has
two companies make different kinds of locks that can be opened and relocked by special tools
and information by the manufacturer. A positive side to this note is that if a passengers TSA
approved lock is missing they can file a claim with form SF 95. (Security, 2010) People get
irritated by this, because no one wants people going through their personal belongings. Despite the
fact that this is a simple way to detect if someone is carrying a bomb, any other type of explosives
or anything else that could be dangerous boarding a plane.
In the beginning of November 2010 TSA added new screening procedures. The new screening
procedures were created because of the reactions of the Underwear bomber . That person
smuggled plastic explosives onto and airplane in December 2009. These procedures include the
backscatter X ray and the sliding pat downs. The backscatter X ray displays images of passenger s
bodies. During sliding pat downs officers screen passenger s breast, buttocks and genitals with
the back of their hand. All pat downs are done by a TSA officer of same gender of that passenger.
And if requested the procedure can be done in a private room. On November 23, 2010 TSA
officials said that some U.S government officials were

Lakshmi Child Prostitution
Being sold as a prostitute damages the individual physically. Many girls all over the world are
being tricked into thinking that they will have a good paying job. They do not know that they are
being sold for prostitution. Terrible actions happen by horrible people. Living in poverty and
seeking for a better future can lead them into thinking they will get a better job without knowing
what is really going to happen to the girls.
Before becoming a prostitute, Lakshmi is an innocent girl, but changes to becomes aggressive.

Female Soldiers In The Civil War
To what extent has feminism in the American Civil War led to feminism in today s Armed
Forces? One of the significant aspects of the American Civil War was the women who did
everything they could to support their side of the War, notwithstanding being a soldier on the front
lines. One of the important aspects of today s Armed Forces is the women who serve, they support
their country in every possible way, from working in the war office up to fighting in active combat
zones on the front lines. The women who fought in the American Civil War were not of importance
battle strategy wise, because the battles weren t influenced by the number of women on each side.

Heroism In Hamlet
The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, often shortened to Hamlet, is a tragedy written by
William Shakespeare at an uncertain date between 1599 and 1602. Set in the Kingdom of Denmark,
the play dramatises the revenge Prince Hamlet is instructed to enact on his uncle Claudius.
Claudius had murdered his own brother, Hamlets father King Hamlet, and subsequently seized the
throne, marrying his deceased brother s widow, Hamlet s mother Gertrude.
Hamlet is Shakespeare s longest play and among the most powerful and influential tragedies in
English literature, with a story capable of seemingly endless retelling and adaptation by others.
The play seems to have been one of Shakespeare s most popular works during his lifetime It has
inspired writers from Goethe and Dickens to Joyce and Murdoch, and has been described as the
world s most filmed story after Cinderella .
The story of Hamlet ultimately derives from the legend of Amleth, preserved by 13th century
chronicler Saxo Grammaticus in his Gesta Danorum, as subsequently retold by ... Show more

Sigmund Freud Jung s Suicide
The major disagreement between the two men was on sexuality or libido (human motivation)
(Psychology of the Unconscious). Freud asserted that sexuality was the motivation behind one s
actions. In Freud s Oedipal crisis, Freud notes that a body has repressed sexual desires for his
mother and jealousy towards his father during his psychosexual steps of development. As for
girls, the process is reversed; they have sexual desires toward their fathers and jealousy toward
their mothers. In all, Freud claims that a child s oppressed sexual desires will display itself as
defense mechanisms and expressions of anxiety. While that was the case for Freud, Jung thought
that Freud s ideas focused too much on sex. Indeed, Jung claimed that libido was a life

Black Bears And The Black Bear
A typical West Michigan backyard has tendencies to be a visiting place from some of nature s
finest species. A raccoon, opossum, or even white tailed deer is very likely. A new likely
species? A black bear. The imagination of seeing one of the most potentially dangerous species
is actually becoming a reality in many locations all over the area. Many have reported aggressive
tendencies from the black bear population. Reports of attacks are emerging throughout the state.
Some experts say there is no trend of black bears migration to more southern areas of the state,
yet others have projected that Indiana and Illinois will have some sort of black bear population.
For the moment, it seems as if we won t have to prepare ourselves for black bears, but the future
may hold new residents to the southern counties of Michigan. Black bears are being spotted
almost everyday in territories that are somewhat surprising. The concern for other species are
now taking place, and questions are being asked about the risk of other local species. Is there a
trend of black bears migrating south? Each year there are seems to be more evidence that black
bears are on the move to the southern part of the state. Michigan Radio reports that this a trend
for the past 5 to 10 years for young male black bears to roam south (As spring begins, para. 5).
Even though there are growing numbers of sightings, many can conclude they won t be established
in West Michigan for quite some time. If a time comes to

The Philosophies Of Athenian Democracy
The Greeks have defined democracy in its purest and simplest form as rule by the people. Today,
many governments have converted to the democratic system, but one notable example of a
democratic society is the city state of Athens; which is also the birthplace of democracy. This way
of ruling of, by, and for the people was so effective that it set the foundations for the democracies we
see today. Although Athenian democracywas essentially the stepping stones to the democratic
society we have today; there were some major discrepancies such as their political structure, their
restrictions on what constitutes a citizen, and their philosophies regarding war.
The Athenians political structure is one of the most significant contributions they made to
democracy. They formed three political bodies supposing that it would keep things orderly, and in
their eyes, fair. Their three political bodies consisted first of the assembly, or Ekklesia. The
Ekklesia were responsible for making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the evidence stated above, from the Athenian point of view, their political structure
was democratic. However, it seems as though that their interpretation of democracy was only
democratic among those who had political rights and were able to contribute to politics in
general. When a vast portion of a state is excluded from politics, it does not seem very
democratic. War also defies all principles on being a free, democratic state. The Athenian way of
voting on issues was probably the most truly democratic principle they demonstrated because
every citizen who was able to participate had a say. The Athenian s view on democracy could
have reached a higher potential if their system had fully utilized the skills of all its residents; such
as the women, the poor, resident aliens, and slaves; as well as adopt a more egalitarian philosophy
when it came to their political bodies and their stance on

After I, again, emphasized that 9 million dollars would be kinda pushing my budget, Charlotte

lower price, it was actually Charlotte after I indirectly (?) bargained by merely acting as if though I
was uncomfortable with spending 9 millions dollars (although, again, I mistakingly was not).
Having read on Fisher s and Ury s positional bargaining section in Getting to Yes, I attempted to
use the alternative approach described as the principled approach (Fisher and Ury, 11). I was
able to effectively practice most of the relevant categories except for the invent options for
mutual gains part, as I did not develop multiple options to choose from (Fisher and Ury, 13). I

I were to push for anything lower that Charlotte would for some reason regret letting me go
below the 10 million dollars limit I assumed she had as well. Therefore, I was naively happy with

One True Hero in Ree DollyВґs WinterВґs Bone Essay
Throughout this semester we have analyzed many tales revolving around different heroes and
their accomplishments. Our first hero was Ree Dolly in an independent film called Winter s
Bone, she had to find her father in order to keep the land her family lived on. The next hero was
Chris McCandles from Into the Wild who was sick of living within the boundaries of normal life
and wanted to go somewhere where he could truly live. Then, we had Juror #8 from 12 Angry
Men who is put up to the task of persuading a jury to save a boy s life. Lastly, we have
Abdulrahman Zeitoun from Zeitoun who has to overcome the challenges of his ethnic background
to be free.
When you think of a hero you probably think of a person who is greatly admired for ... Show more

The other three men have responsibilities and motivations but nothing so burdening or meaningful
as Ree has. McCandles is out surviving in the wilderness by his own choice, meaning this wasn t
an unexpected turn in his life and he s alone so he has no one to worry about besides himself. He
is doing this just for himself, the only motivations he has are selfish.
Zeitoun s life is in danger and he got put in prison without any sort of warning but he s also alone;
he is concerned with getting himself out. He want to do this so he can see his family again but this
is another selfish motivation. His family will be safe with or without him, he won t be doing
them any greater good by seeing him. Juror 8 is trying to save the accused s life which is no
small feat, but he won t lose anything if he doesn t succeed; he is also trying to save just one
life. His motivations are never made crystal clear. He does state though that he doesn t think that
the boy should die unless there is not a shred of doubt that the boy could be innocent (Rose). A
fair justice system is a noble goal but in reality, it s not realistic, making his goal impractical. Ree
Dolly had to give the most for her cause. She faced her neighbors who wanted nothing to do with
her or her dad. She was beaten for asking questions that she had to ask. Thorton threatened to take
her life if she kept up with her pursuit of her father (Granik). But she still carried on despite these
obstacles, she was

Individuality in Whitman s Song of Myself Essay
Individuality in Whitman s Song of Myself
During a lecture in 1907, William James said the philosophy which is so important in each of us
is not a technical matter; it is our more or less dumb sense of what life honestly means. It is only
partly got from books; it is our individual way of just seeing and feeling the total push and pressure
of the cosmos (Bartlett 546) Individuality has been a prevalent theme in every type of literature for
quite some time. Whether it is a character discovering his/her individuality or the author expressing
his, literature is full of distinctness. The term individuality changes meaning with each person it
meets. That is what makes the dynamic word so great. Throughout particular works read this ...

He demonstrates being non judgmental, which is something people of his time do not understand,
let alone today in present time. He goes on later to say I resist anything better than my own
diversity, and breathe the air and leave plenty after me, and am not stuck up, and am in my place
(2756). Whitman feels that he has explored the world and the options around him and now has
found his place. He knows his inner self and it has guided him to the place he needs to be.
Whitman s ideas of individuality have totally transformed from the ideas of his predecessors.
Benjamin Franklin s idea of being an individual consisted of hard labor, good standing character,
and faith in God. Franklin was a hard worker who had toiled and labored since the day he was
born. His happiness was assured in the apprentice ships that he held early in life. Franklin
deemed success in work just as highly as good character. In his autobiography he states, I began
now gradually to pay off the Debt I was under for the printing house. In order to secure my credit
and my character as a tradesman (Franklin 803). The reader understands how important this is to
Franklin as well as how important it is today to people. God was always a steadfast character in
Franklin s life. In Poor Richard s Almanacs one of Franklin s maxims was God helps them that
helps themselves (723). This maxim epitomizes Franklin s ideas on

Tensions Between Science And Religion
Tensions between science and religion have recurred throughout history. The issues of what to do
with the remains of our ancestors are viewed differently by people. Some people believe that the
burial site should be left untouched. Among this group of people fall the Native Americans.
Archaeologists, on the other hand, think we should uncover the burial site to be able to discover
more about the history of the land from which the grave lies. The Native American Grave
Protection and Repatriation Act was signed into law on November 1990 by President George Bush.
This legislation is the result of decades of effort by American Indians to protect the burial sites of
their ancestors against grave desecration and to recover the remains of ancestors and sacred cultural
objects in the possession or under the control of federal agencies and museums. In November 1993,
museums holding certain Native American artifacts were required to prepare written summaries of
their collections for distribution to culturally affiliated tribes. In November 1995, museums were
required to prepare detailed inventories of their Native American collection. This act is historically
significant because it represents a fundamental change in social attitudes toward Native people by
museum curators, the scientific community, and Congress. Congress attempted to strike a balance
between the interest in scientific examination of skeletal remains and the recognition that Native
Americans have a religious and

office in 1904, Theodore Roosevelt was an individual in the republican Party, but as the country
began to spin out of control Roosevelt joined the new Progressive Party and saved the country from
a disastrous ending (685). Reformers set out to cleanse the country go its wrong doings. The
progressivism agenda included: an active government to right political, economic and social wrongs
(685). The activist only wanted the governments intervention for a short period of time then let the

Multiple groups consolidated to fight for reform. The economic down fall was too drastic that it
effected a significant number of people from several groups, among those included young
protestants, muckrakers, and socialist. Young protestants were passionate for righting moral
wrongs and up lifting human spirts. Being raised in a protestant home prompted their interest in
social actions. Even though many of them abandoned their religious pathway of becoming
ministries or missionaries they were still discouraged in the corruption in American politics and
the separation of rich and poor classes. Ida B Wells was a young protestant known as a muckraker,
whom worked in investigation journalism, her goal was to dredge up the muck in American
institutions. Ida B Well exposed John d Rockefeller as he had turned his Standard Oil Company
into monopoly. The govenor of New Year, theodore Rooseveltgained congresses attention by his
strong dedication, leadership and effort to rid the state of corruption and patronage. This type of
characteristics was exactly needed in a president during this time of movement. Roosevelt was

vice president. McKinley was shot during his term leaving Roosevelt in charge of the country. In
1902 Roosevelt used Sherman s antitrust act to break up the northern securities company. After this

Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs
Throughout human history people have sought to better themselves and ascend to higher levels
beyond what others thought possible. As many might say, life is more than just surviving, it is
about doing the things one dreams of, learning new things, mastering new skills, and being with the
people that one enjoys being with. On the contrary, not all people get to do any of those things. It
seems that the ultimate goal is self actualization and life fulfillment, yet why do people never seem
to reach that point?
Humanistic psychology is a value orientation that holds a hopeful, constructive view of human
beings and of their substantial capacity to be self determining (AHP). It focuses on the self,
experiences, and motivation systems unrelated to rewards or unconscious desires (McLeod,
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs). Abraham Maslow, one of the leading psychologists in humanistic
psychology, conceived the idea of the hierarchy of needs that revealed what motivates people to do
the things that they do. Similarly, Carl Rodgers later added that for a person to grow , they need an
environment that provides them with genuineness, acceptance, and empathy (McLeod, Carl
Rogers). In Maslow s hierarchy of needs one cannot get to the top without first starting from the
bottom and working upwards through each level. As can be seen in the diagram on page 2, from
the bottom up Maslow states that physiological needs must be met, then safety, love, esteem, and
self actualization. The key is

The Punch List Obligations Of A Construction Project Manager
The Punch List Obligations of a Construction Project Manager at Project Closeout
ABRAHAM J MAJU
(MPM 630 Project Closeout)

USA
Abstract
Most constructions contracts tends to be very specific in regards to the overall planned financial
budget of the construction work, the expected quality of the job output from the contractor as well
as the duration (time) that is allowed to complete the work. But it is very common that in most
cases, it would seem that all that would be required to closing out a construction or any other type
of a major capital project would be just to inspect it, accept it and see that the contractor is able to
receive all his entitlements and final payments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introduction
Constructions project management involves the direct and daily monitoring of all construction
activities and tasks, including all the construction methodologies that is being applied, as well as
the personnel that directs or guides the project through every single stage or phase of its life cycle.
It is pertinent to know that not all constructions jobs might not be successfully completed due to
some changed conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond control like the effects of nature and
differing site conditions. Some of the constructions projects get rejected or are abruptly cancelled
due to reasons best known to either the contractor or the client as the case maybe, but whatever
happens regardless. Proper and effective closure is always needed on all constructions projects.
According to the words of the author Joseph A. Griffin (2011) titled How to Close a Project , he
noted that Closing a project should be treated as an integral part of the project plan. The closing
process does not begin at the end of the project, but during the planning phase. Each step should be
carefully planned and executed as any other portion of the project . Propounding on the suggested
timeline for preparations of a project closeout, the authors Edward R. Fisk and Wayne D. Reynolds
(2014) in the Tenth Edition of their publications titled Construction Project Administration noted on
page 347, that The closeout period may actually begin several weeks to a month

With all that s happened in the turning tides of the political climate in Washington DC, I find a
misquote of an original Albert Einstein quote to be appropriate:
Everything should be as simple as it can be, but not simpler.
It s obvious we live in a divisive time. But lately I ve started to wonder if we live in an
oversimplified one as well. I wonder if our heightened emotions have mistakenly led us to believe
things were much more straightforward then they are. We feel so passionately about so much. And
the louder our voices get, the deeper our convictions go. We are certain unity is possible. (If only
the other side who could begin to see things our way.)
It s simple.
But it s not. For me, at least. And feeling this way has led to me feeling ... Show more content on

And that s okay.
Still, it does make it more lonely.
But the thing is, I m not convinced I am the only one. I think there are a lot of us. At least I hope
there are. I hope there is an undercurrent of insurgents who are not allowing a political party to
determine where we belong and what we believe. Who see the humanity in those who take the same
positions we do, and in those who are bitterly opposed. Who believe to simplify the cause is to
undermine the cause. And that to reduce the issues to the lowest common denominator is to reduce
the personhood of those who don t agree with us.
We are the new revolutionaries who know that nothing is as simple as it appears, that things are
more murky than maybe either side feels comfortable admitting, and that the act of not belonging
anywhere is in and of itself belonging and taking a stand somewhere. This too takes courage, self
reflection, and conviction. We are not copping out, selling out, or flaking out. We are leaning in,
we are tuning in, and we are giving in to something larger than our need to feel comfortable. We are
learning to live in the in between.
So. Is anyone with

Oppression Of Women In Pakistan
The portrayal of women in the Middle East, specifically in Pakistan, women face discrimination on
a regular basis and struggle to obtain equal rights in comparison to men in Pakistan. Some of the
reasons women are oppressed in Pakistan because of the dominance and control men have over
women. Since the government doesn t utilize the opportunity to protect women and uses religious
defenses as an excuse to treat women poorly, women continue to be treated like second class
citizens. Oppression of Women in Pakistanbegan after independence in 1947 and continues to
negatively impact women today. Women face inequality in being protected by the government,
unequal education, and political representation. The British controlled India and began to exploit
Indians for their use of raw materials. Britain established power by controlling trade and created the
East India Company. Britain Westernized India and influenced Muslims and Hindus to collaborate.
Conflicts arose when the majority, Hindus, had more political power and influence over Muslims.
Upon trying to gain more political power the Muslim League was established and met on December
1906 to discuss ways to improve and support political representation of Muslims(Ahmed 110). A
Muslim activist, Jinnah, used his power in Congress to encourage other Muslims to establish more
representation in government. Religious conflicts and tension became prominent when the Indian
National Congressbegan to favor Hindu movements and Hindu nationalism spread across India.
During the 1920 s after the Muslim League tried to band with congress to challenge Britain
control, Britain favored Hindu culture and dismissing the needs of Muslims(Admed 110).
Disregarding Muslim needs provoked fear of oppression insinuating Muslims to rebel. Acts of
rebellion occurred until a meeting was established to form a political compromise between peace
activist, Gandhi, and the Muslim League to achieve more equal opportunities for Muslims.
Muslims were unable to achieve a compromise because they still had insufficient power in India in
comparison to the Hindu population. Without a compromise the Muslim activists strived to gain
political power through separating powers in India because many were

The Concept of Blood Atonement behind Judaism and...
The idea of using blood of a living creature, (typically an animal s) in order to blot out
immorality, or better known as sin, can be traced back to the roots of primal civilization.
Specifically in Judaism, the ritual started in which an animal was sacrificed in order to cover the
sins of a person or multiple people. As we presently observe the traditions of Judaismwe do not find
any sign of animal sacrifice, with an exception of orthodox Jews. While on the other hand,
Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (FLDS) will be found to zealously observe blood atonementin
their practices today. The significance and importance that was placed in blood atonement, through
animal sacrifice, no longer has the same affect in Judaism traditions because of... Show more

One story in the Bible that might draw to the assumption that Yahweh required human sacrifice is
the account of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his son Isaac. God stopped Abraham,
with knife in hand, from sacrificing Isaac. Deuteronomy 12:31 further supports that Judaism
culture did not regard human sacrifice as virtuous: You must not worship the Lord your God in
their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates.
They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.
Even though animal sacrificing was a center tradition of Judaism, it ceased in the year 70 A.D.
after the Roman army had destroyed the Jewish temple in Jerusalem (Dumbrell). Deuteronomy says
thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest : But in the place which the LORD
shall choose in one of thy tribes Thus the custom of animal sacrificing could no longer continue in
the culture of Judaism. Regardless, there were other ways in

The Effects Of Tobacco Smoking
Although free of nicotine, marijuana smoke certainly pollutes the lungs. And since tobacco
smoking has been linked to respiratory injury, cancer, emphysema, heart disease, complications
of pregnancy, low birth weight, and other ills, it makes sense to worry whether smoking
marijuana might prove equally harmful (Mack and Joy). Marijuana joints have been shown to
deliver at least four times as much tar to the lungs as tobacco cigarettes of equivalent weight.
This difference is due to the lack of filters on joints and because marijuana smokers typically
inhale a larger volume of smoke and take it more deeply into the lungs than tobacco smokers do.
Marijuana smokers also tend to hold smoke in for a time before exhaling, exposing the lungs to
even greater levels of cancer causing agents. Clinical studies suggest that people who smoke
marijuana are more likely to develop respiratory illnesses than are nonsmokers. A survey of
outpatient medical visits at a large health maintenance organization (HMO) found that marijuana
users were more likely to seek help for respiratory illnesses than people who smoked tobacco (Mack
and Joy). While cannabisis harmful to the brain and lungs of the user, it is also harmful to the ones
around the user. It has been shown that the effects of using cannabisare similar to those of alcohol
and benzodiazepines and include slowing of reaction time, motor incoordination, specific defects in
short term memory, difficulty in concentration and particular

Unethical Advertising
Advertising to children should not be considered unethical or be deemed related to childhood
obesity as there are many factors that play into obesity that are being denied or overlooked if the
blame is put on advertising. Often, advertising is merely used as the scapegoat. Further, the primary
intent of advertisingfood is to increase brand awareness; not to increase consumption. As defined
by the Merriam Webster Dictionary, advertising is the action of calling something to the attention
of the public, its purpose is not to force individuals to perform an action, rather just make their
product/service more known ( Advertising ). According to Kant s Duty Based Ethics, since the
intent of advertising is not to increase obesity in the consumers , it cannot be deemed unethical.
Overall, research shows that most children under the age of 6 cannot distinguish between
programming and advertising; therefore, this further attests to advertising not being harmful to
kids and their health. In general, excess weight gain in young people is similar to those in adults,
including factors such as a person s behavior and genetics. Therefore, there should not be a focus
on advertising to kids alone; if there needs to be more regulations with advertising in terms of
advertising to kids, then regulations should be made in advertising to adults as well.
Obesity is considered a disease that is derived from having too much body fat. The extra weight
can be from bone, muscle, fat, and/or body water (Obesity: Medline). In any case, the disease is
present when the weight of the person is greater than what s considered healthy for his or her
height. Although advertising food to kids may contribute to the rate of obesity in America, it is
proven that it is not the only factor and certainly is not the most prominent. There are a number of
other factors that can contribute to obesity in an individual.
Obesity is a condition that some individuals may not have any control over as it may be caused by
their genetic makeup. A countless number of studies have established that the different forms of
obesity tend to be generated within a family. According to the Center of Research at the University
of Laval, the risk of obesity is 2 to 8 times

Dbq For The Giver
Can a perfect society be perfect for everyone? The Giver is a novel that was written by Lois Lowry.
She got the idea from her father who was suffering from memory loss. This made her think, what
would it be like to live in a society where all pain was gone? And thus The Giver came to be. Is The
Giver a utopiaor a dystopia? It is a dystopia because of releases, limited choices, and the lack of
knowledge. First of all, let s start by saying that The Giveris a dystopia because of the releases or
deaths that they perform. According to Document D, To his surprise, his father began very
carefully to direct the needle into the top of the new child s forehead, puncturing the place where
the fragile skin pulsed. The newborn squirmed, and wailed faintly. This is the part in the book
where Jonas s father injects the newborn twin with a shot that killed him. They killed the twin just
because he was a twin. That is just so cruel and inhuman. This shows that in The Giver, they kill
innocent people like that newborn twin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was decided by the Committee of Elders that people could choose wrong and that would be bad.
But, sometimes wrong choices are needed to make the person learn and become a better person

Plato s Summary Of The Soul-City In The Republic
Plato s analogy of the Soul City in the republic proposes to examine justice at the communal level
instead of at the individual level. He does this due to the complexities that come with the individual.
It is difficult to observe encompassing ideas such as justice through something that is not fully
understood by the individual itself. Comparatively, the political community is created by the
individual which allows for better understanding, making it a better agent for this examination. This
analogy created by Platois of foundational importance for areas of academia where logic plays a
part. This analogy creates 2 important precedents in the field of philosophy. The first is the

He does this in an attempt to identify similarities between justice of the individual and justice of the
community. After some attempts to observe existing cities, Plato realized that the cities which
existed at that time were not fully just, rather they had elements of justice and injustice, making
them inadequate settings to examine. To accurately examine justice in the city, they decide to speak
in the hypothetical and create an ideal city. This imagined city contains unequivocal goodness and
justice. Plato speaks about the virtues that exist in the ideal city: wisdom, courage, moderation, and
justice. These virtues become directly related to the individual. Wisdom is the virtue of the ruler,
courage the virtue of the soldier, moderation the virtue of the producer. This is where the idea of
the soul city analogy starts to come full circle as Plato claims that in order for these virtues to exist
in the city they must exist in the individual with connected virtues. To do this he breaks down the
individual soul into three parts. The intellect connected to wisdom, the spirit connected to courage,

The Power Of Rock N Roll Changed Society
The Power of Rock Older generations complain today that music these days just does not
compare to music of the past, that the music we listen to today has no class and makes us
rebellious. Ironically enough, they were told the exact same thing themselves when they were
young, along with the generation before them. Rock N Roll changed the fabric of society for
nearly a century, having evolved from music that was already controversial in itself. As a result,
a generation of youth that was either considered rebellious or showed signs of delinquency or
rebellion by riots formed. The entire world slowly began to feel the impact of Rock N Roll,
each nation having their traditions and morals slowly evolving as a result of the music. Rock N
Roll drastically changed society everywhere because the youth at the time all began to question
authority, parents and adults all became conflicted on how the music would change them and
racial integration became more commonly accepted as a result of the music. Of course, music of
any kind has the greatest impact on the youngest of any generation. Once Rock N Roll became
more popular during the evolution of the genre, adolescents began to act in ways never before
seen or expected from adults. A new hive mind mentality started to form among youth of all ages
of 12 and older, with all of the youth dressing the same way that many parents would not approve
of. All of the girls tended to wear tight and revealing skirts and skin tight pants while

Femininity Depicted Throughout The Hebrew Bible
According to the late great mongolian marauder Genghis Khan The greatest happiness is to scatter
your enemy, to drive him before you,to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him
shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters. Genghis Khan, much like
the Hebrew Bibleduring certain points, regards women as objects. However, to write the Hebrew
Bible off as fully misogynistic would not do the ancient texts justice. From Genesis to Judges 2,
the Hebrew Bible objectifies women, uses them as scapegoats, but during certain points rises
them to the level of highly admired Prophets and warriors. This essay attempts to explore the
various undertones of femininity depicted throughout the Hebrew Bible. The story of the
Concubine of a Levite in Judges 19 20 may be one of the harshest examples of female
objectification throughout the Bible. The story takes place during a period without a monarch. It
begins with the Levite Husband leaving his home to fetch his concubine who fled to her father s
home in Gibeah. This story showcases the brutal rape of a nameless woman. The author of Judges
19 20 is a somewhat contested issue. Although rabbinic Sages believed that the book was written by
the prophet Samuel, modern biblical scholars note that the work was not written by just one author.
Many of these scholars believe that this was the work of Deuteronomistic redactors. However the
positive expectations from the monarchy, the lack of

Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven And The Black Cat
Although now seen as the father of the modern horror story, Edgar Allan Poe was previously
viewed as a drunken failure. Within Poe s writings much of his own life riddled with guilt,
anxiety, alcohol, depression and death shines through resulting in works that appear unrelated
yet once dissected prove similar. This is true for Poe s works The Raven and The Black Cat .
Poe s examples of gothic fiction share the use of the color black and a rapid digression of the
narrator s sanity while seemingly unveiling Poe s internal pain. Despite these similarities, Poe s
works also differ immensely. The Black Cat focuses around death while The Raven is fixed
around discovering the reasoning for a bird s arrival. Moreover, gothic themes seen within The
Raven do not necessarily remain constant when compared to The Black Cat . At the beginning
of Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven and The Black Cat the narrators begin to explain their side of the
story calmly, maintaining their composure and sanity. Yet, as both stories progress Poe s main
characters quickly unravel and spiral into frantic, unstable beings. Initially, the man depicted
within The Raven believes a visitor is knocking on his door, a rational and typical thought upon

  • 2. A True Authority Figure One Tiger Passed On To the people of Boston or who those this concerns: bullying declares the strength or effect to scare someone, cyberbullying involves tormenting, harassing, or threatening of a young person using the internet or technology devices. Individuals who become bullied are two to nine times more likely to consider committing suicide ( Cyber BullyingFacts ). My condolences go to those impacted by the tragic loss. A situation like this couldn t have ended any worse, however it should have resolved less painfully by authorityfigures. Throughout Phoebe Prince s story a true authority figure appears to be missing entirely. Phoebe Prince, 15 years old, moved from County Clare in Ireland to South Hadleylooking to continue enjoying the teenage life. Only to come to find out, students in a little town could cause a wake of pain. The bullying became strong and ruthless. Some peers called her the Irish slut on social network sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). She constantly struggled with people in school knocking items out her hands, things thrown at her, and received threatening text messages. In the middle of January, Phoebe hit rock bottom. She became tormented and terrorized in the school library and hallways. That same day, Phoebe walked home from school and then suddenly, one of the instigators threw a Red Bull can as she drove by. Phoebe came home and hung herself in the stairwell defeating her pain. It didn t stop there. Students continued to post harshful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Project Plan And Workflow For Complete The Final Video Project Methodology: In this chapter, I present the project plan and workflow I used to complete the final video. In the last part I discuss other software programs used to accomplish other tasks in the post production stage. Production Workflow: The process to complete the insertion of a CG into a life footage is the same as a media production workflow. The matchmoving process is part of an animation workflow which is part of the production workflow. To achieve the final footage there is need to incorporate inherit workflows together. Video Production Workflow: To create a film, the process need to follow the basis of the media production workflow. Figure 1: Video production Process Preproduction: This is the beginning of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the main focus of this project. After my research into the matchmoving workflow, I decided to create an adaptation of a workflow that will suit this project. Figure 2: A basic VFX workflow showing the production stages. I decided to combine the production workflow and the basic matchmoving workflow so as to accommodate changes during the project. In figure1 below it shows a basic animation production workflow with the corresponding video production stages and figure2 is a basic matchmove workflow with the different production stages. The incorporation of CG into a live footage involves a large scale of processes. Figure 3: A basic Matchmove workflow showing production stages.
  • 4. In a simple VFX scene, the animator is responsible for the 3D creation, a visual artist is responsible for the composite and the key role is played by the matchmover who create the CG camera from the real camera and ensure others have the generated CG scene to work with. The matchmoving usually happens early in the production workflow. Figure 4: Adapted Workflow for the project. I was able to derive this workflow for the insertion of the 3D into the live action footage. The production is divided into 3 stages as a normal video production process. Pre Production: I decided to have this into 2 stages. The first stage was a plan of the video sequence plot. The evaluation stage is a part of the matchmoving process but doesn t ... • 6. Separation Of The Proteins Involved Separation of the proteins involved in both species blood and serum revealed that each was composed of a major protein. A prominent protein in the rabbit blood was found accumulating at approximately 13kDa, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. It was concluded that this protein was most likely hemoglobin, given the weight and large amount present in all blood due to its necessary function of transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body. Hemoglobin is a tetrameric proteinof about 64.5 kDa, consisting of two chains and two chains which breaks down into each subunit having an approximate weight of 15kDa (Yu et al, 1997). This was in correlation with the data present in Figure 1, given that the major protein present in rabbit blood was approximately 13kDa, which would be the subunits that make up hemoglobin. We hypothesized that similar proteins would also be present in bovine blood, yet the major band present in this sample was located at much higher molecular weight of approximately 45 kDa. Potential causes in weight differences could be the longer amino acid sequence present in rabbit hemoglobin, 170 amino acids, versus the 145 amino acids present in bovine hemoglobin, yet this would result in bovine being further down on the gel versus what is actually shown (Altschul et al, 1997). Given the data obtained, potential misidentification of hemoglobin appearing as the main protein present or possible error in lane one (rabbit blood), could explain the anomaly in ... TSA has two companies make different kinds of locks that can be opened and relocked by special tools and information by the manufacturer. A positive side to this note is that if a passengers TSA approved lock is missing they can file a claim with form SF 95. (Security, 2010) People get irritated by this, because no one wants people going through their personal belongings. Despite the fact that this is a simple way to detect if someone is carrying a bomb, any other type of explosives or anything else that could be dangerous boarding a plane. In the beginning of November 2010 TSA added new screening procedures. The new screening procedures were created because of the reactions of the Underwear bomber . That person smuggled plastic explosives onto and airplane in December 2009. These procedures include the backscatter X ray and the sliding pat downs. Set in the Kingdom of Denmark, the play dramatises the revenge Prince Hamlet is instructed to enact on his uncle Claudius. Claudius had murdered his own brother, Hamlets father King Hamlet, and subsequently seized the throne, marrying his deceased brother s widow, Hamlet s mother Gertrude. Hamlet is Shakespeare s longest play and among the most powerful and influential tragedies in English literature, with a story capable of seemingly endless retelling and adaptation by others. The play seems to have been one of Shakespeare s most popular works during his lifetime It has inspired writers from Goethe and Dickens to Joyce and Murdoch, and has been described as the world s most filmed story after Cinderella . Today, many governments have converted to the democratic system, but one notable example of a democratic society is the city state of Athens; which is also the birthplace of democracy. This way of ruling of, by, and for the people was so effective that it set the foundations for the democracies we see today. Although Athenian democracywas essentially the stepping stones to the democratic society we have today; there were some major discrepancies such as their political structure, their restrictions on what constitutes a citizen, and their philosophies regarding war. The Athenians political structure is one of the most significant contributions they made to democracy. Individuality in Whitman s Song of Myself Essay Individuality in Whitman s Song of Myself During a lecture in 1907, William James said the philosophy which is so important in each of us is not a technical matter; it is our more or less dumb sense of what life honestly means. It is only partly got from books; it is our individual way of just seeing and feeling the total push and pressure of the cosmos (Bartlett 546) Individuality has been a prevalent theme in every type of literature for quite some time. Whitman feels that he has explored the world and the options around him and now has found his place. He knows his inner self and it has guided him to the place he needs to be. Whitman s ideas of individuality have totally transformed from the ideas of his predecessors. Benjamin Franklin s idea of being an individual consisted of hard labor, good standing character, and faith in God. Franklin was a hard worker who had toiled and labored since the day he was born. Archaeologists, on the other hand, think we should uncover the burial site to be able to discover more about the history of the land from which the grave lies. The Native American Grave Protection and Repatriation Act was signed into law on November 1990 by President George Bush. This legislation is the result of decades of effort by American Indians to protect the burial sites of their ancestors against grave desecration and to recover the remains of ancestors and sacred cultural objects in the possession or under the control of federal agencies and museums. In November 1993, museums holding certain Native American artifacts were required to prepare written summaries of their collections for distribution to culturally affiliated tribes. In November 1995, museums were required to prepare detailed inventories of their Native American collection. • 24. Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Throughout human history people have sought to better themselves and ascend to higher levels beyond what others thought possible. As many might say, life is more than just surviving, it is about doing the things one dreams of, learning new things, mastering new skills, and being with the people that one enjoys being with. On the contrary, not all people get to do any of those things. It seems that the ultimate goal is self actualization and life fulfillment, yet why do people never seem to reach that point? Humanistic psychology is a value orientation that holds a hopeful, constructive view of human beings and of their substantial capacity to be self determining (AHP). It focuses on the self, experiences, and motivation systems unrelated to rewards or unconscious desires (McLeod, Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs). Abraham Maslow, one of the leading psychologists in humanistic psychology, conceived the idea of the hierarchy of needs that revealed what motivates people to do the things that they do. Similarly, Carl Rodgers later added that for a person to grow , they need an environment that provides them with genuineness, acceptance, and empathy (McLeod, Carl Rogers). In Maslow s hierarchy of needs one cannot get to the top without first starting from the bottom and working upwards through each level. As can be seen in the diagram on page 2, from the bottom up Maslow states that physiological needs must be met, then safety, love, esteem, and self actualization. The key is ... I wonder if our heightened emotions have mistakenly led us to believe things were much more straightforward then they are. We feel so passionately about so much. Oppression Of Women In Pakistan The portrayal of women in the Middle East, specifically in Pakistan, women face discrimination on a regular basis and struggle to obtain equal rights in comparison to men in Pakistan. Some of the reasons women are oppressed in Pakistan because of the dominance and control men have over women. Since the government doesn t utilize the opportunity to protect women and uses religious defenses as an excuse to treat women poorly, women continue to be treated like second class citizens. Oppression of Women in Pakistanbegan after independence in 1947 and continues to negatively impact women today. Women face inequality in being protected by the government, unequal education, and political representation. The British controlled India and began to exploit Indians for their use of raw materials. Britain established power by controlling trade and created the East India Company. Britain Westernized India and influenced Muslims and Hindus to collaborate. Conflicts arose when the majority, Hindus, had more political power and influence over Muslims. Upon trying to gain more political power the Muslim League was established and met on December 1906 to discuss ways to improve and support political representation of Muslims(Ahmed 110). A Muslim activist, Jinnah, used his power in Congress to encourage other Muslims to establish more representation in government. Religious conflicts and tension became prominent when the Indian National Congressbegan to favor Hindu movements and Hindu nationalism spread across India. During the 1920 s after the Muslim League tried to band with congress to challenge Britain control, Britain favored Hindu culture and dismissing the needs of Muslims(Admed 110). Disregarding Muslim needs provoked fear of oppression insinuating Muslims to rebel. Acts of rebellion occurred until a meeting was established to form a political compromise between peace activist, Gandhi, and the Muslim League to achieve more equal opportunities for Muslims. And since tobacco smoking has been linked to respiratory injury, cancer, emphysema, heart disease, complications of pregnancy, low birth weight, and other ills, it makes sense to worry whether smoking marijuana might prove equally harmful (Mack and Joy). Marijuana joints have been shown to deliver at least four times as much tar to the lungs as tobacco cigarettes of equivalent weight. This difference is due to the lack of filters on joints and because marijuana smokers typically inhale a larger volume of smoke and take it more deeply into the lungs than tobacco smokers do. Marijuana smokers also tend to hold smoke in for a time before exhaling, exposing the lungs to even greater levels of cancer causing agents. Clinical studies suggest that people who smoke marijuana are more likely to develop respiratory illnesses than are nonsmokers. A survey of outpatient medical visits at a large health maintenance organization (HMO) found that marijuana users were more likely to seek help for respiratory illnesses than people who smoked tobacco (Mack and Joy). • 31. Unethical Advertising Advertising to children should not be considered unethical or be deemed related to childhood obesity as there are many factors that play into obesity that are being denied or overlooked if the blame is put on advertising. Often, advertising is merely used as the scapegoat. Further, the primary intent of advertisingfood is to increase brand awareness; not to increase consumption. As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary, advertising is the action of calling something to the attention of the public, its purpose is not to force individuals to perform an action, rather just make their product/service more known ( Advertising ). According to Kant s Duty Based Ethics, since the intent of advertising is not to increase obesity in the consumers , it cannot be deemed unethical. Overall, research shows that most children under the age of 6 cannot distinguish between programming and advertising; therefore, this further attests to advertising not being harmful to kids and their health. In general, excess weight gain in young people is similar to those in adults, including factors such as a person s behavior and genetics. Therefore, there should not be a focus on advertising to kids alone; if there needs to be more regulations with advertising in terms of advertising to kids, then regulations should be made in advertising to adults as well. Obesity is considered a disease that is derived from having too much body fat. The extra weight can be from bone, muscle, fat, and/or body water (Obesity: Medline). In any case, the disease is present when the weight of the person is greater than what s considered healthy for his or her height. Although advertising food to kids may contribute to the rate of obesity in America, it is proven that it is not the only factor and certainly is not the most prominent. There are a number of other factors that can contribute to obesity in an individual. • 32. Dbq For The Giver Can a perfect society be perfect for everyone? The Giver is a novel that was written by Lois Lowry. She got the idea from her father who was suffering from memory loss. This made her think, what would it be like to live in a society where all pain was gone? And thus The Giver came to be. Is The Giver a utopiaor a dystopia? It is a dystopia because of releases, limited choices, and the lack of knowledge. First of all, let s start by saying that The Giveris a dystopia because of the releases or deaths that they perform. According to Document D, To his surprise, his father began very carefully to direct the needle into the top of the new child s forehead, puncturing the place where the fragile skin pulsed. The newborn squirmed, and wailed faintly. This is the part in the book where Jonas s father injects the newborn twin with a shot that killed him. They killed the twin just because he was a twin. That is just so cruel and inhuman. This shows that in The Giver, they kill innocent people like that newborn twin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the end, they both settled the conversation with this, Definitely not safe, Jonas said with certainty. What if they were allowed to choose their own mate? And chose wrong? • 34. Plato s Summary Of The Soul-City In The Republic Plato s analogy of the Soul City in the republic proposes to examine justice at the communal level instead of at the individual level. He does this due to the complexities that come with the individual. It is difficult to observe encompassing ideas such as justice through something that is not fully understood by the individual itself. Comparatively, the political community is created by the individual which allows for better understanding, making it a better agent for this examination. This analogy created by Platois of foundational importance for areas of academia where logic plays a part. This analogy creates 2 important precedents in the field of philosophy. The first is the permission to compare large ideas and forms regardless of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does this in an attempt to identify similarities between justice of the individual and justice of the community. After some attempts to observe existing cities, Plato realized that the cities which existed at that time were not fully just, rather they had elements of justice and injustice, making them inadequate settings to examine. To accurately examine justice in the city, they decide to speak in the hypothetical and create an ideal city. This imagined city contains unequivocal goodness and justice. Plato speaks about the virtues that exist in the ideal city: wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice. These virtues become directly related to the individual. Wisdom is the virtue of the ruler, courage the virtue of the soldier, moderation the virtue of the producer. This is where the idea of the soul city analogy starts to come full circle as Plato claims that in order for these virtues to exist in the city they must exist in the individual with connected virtues. To do this he breaks down the individual soul into three parts. The intellect connected to wisdom, the spirit connected to courage, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Power Of Rock N Roll Changed Society The Power of Rock Older generations complain today that music these days just does not compare to music of the past, that the music we listen to today has no class and makes us rebellious. Ironically enough, they were told the exact same thing themselves when they were young, along with the generation before them. Rock N Roll changed the fabric of society for nearly a century, having evolved from music that was already controversial in itself. As a result, a generation of youth that was either considered rebellious or showed signs of delinquency or rebellion by riots formed. The entire world slowly began to feel the impact of Rock N Roll, each nation having their traditions and morals slowly evolving as a result of the music. Rock N Roll drastically changed society everywhere because the youth at the time all began to question authority, parents and adults all became conflicted on how the music would change them and racial integration became more commonly accepted as a result of the music. Of course, music of any kind has the greatest impact on the youngest of any generation. Once Rock N Roll became more popular during the evolution of the genre, adolescents began to act in ways never before seen or expected from adults. A new hive mind mentality started to form among youth of all ages of 12 and older, with all of the youth dressing the same way that many parents would not approve of. • 41. Femininity Depicted Throughout The Hebrew Bible According to the late great mongolian marauder Genghis Khan The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you,to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters. Genghis Khan, much like the Hebrew Bibleduring certain points, regards women as objects. However, to write the Hebrew Bible off as fully misogynistic would not do the ancient texts justice. From Genesis to Judges 2, the Hebrew Bible objectifies women, uses them as scapegoats, but during certain points rises them to the level of highly admired Prophets and warriors. This essay attempts to explore the various undertones of femininity depicted throughout the Hebrew Bible. The story of the Concubine of a Levite in Judges 19 20 may be one of the harshest examples of female objectification throughout the Bible. The story takes place during a period without a monarch. It begins with the Levite Husband leaving his home to fetch his concubine who fled to her father s home in Gibeah. This story showcases the brutal rape of a nameless woman. The author of Judges 19 20 is a somewhat contested issue. Although rabbinic Sages believed that the book was written by the prophet Samuel, modern biblical scholars note that the work was not written by just one author. Many of these scholars believe that this was the work of Deuteronomistic redactors. However the positive expectations from the monarchy, the lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven And The Black Cat Although now seen as the father of the modern horror story, Edgar Allan Poe was previously viewed as a drunken failure. Within Poe s writings much of his own life riddled with guilt, anxiety, alcohol, depression and death shines through resulting in works that appear unrelated yet once dissected prove similar. This is true for Poe s works The Raven and The Black Cat . Poe s examples of gothic fiction share the use of the color black and a rapid digression of the narrator s sanity while seemingly unveiling Poe s internal pain. Despite these similarities, Poe s works also differ immensely. The Black Cat focuses around death while The Raven is fixed around discovering the reasoning for a bird s arrival. Moreover, gothic themes seen within The Raven do not necessarily remain constant when compared to The Black Cat . At the beginning of Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven and The Black Cat the narrators begin to explain their side of the story calmly, maintaining their composure and sanity. Yet, as both stories progress Poe s main characters quickly unravel and spiral into frantic, unstable beings. Initially, the man depicted within The Raven believes a visitor is knocking on his door, a rational and typical thought upon hearing a knock. The main character s mental health begins to slip when he yells and believes to hear in the empty doorway, his dead wife, I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, Lenore! , (Poe 1).
