2. Summary
Combining reactive visuals based on sound
input, and a thematic surface environment for
displaying these visuals, we intend to
highlight the relationship between individual
and environment.
Using the Canadian arctic frontier as a frame
of reference, we hope to illustrate the
importance of a rediscovery with nature
through artistic and technological platforms.

The Inuit name for the Polar Bear is
"Nanuk", meaning "an animal worthy of
great respect."

Sight: a surfaced-mapped, sound-
responsive video projection.
Sound: audience-generated sound inputs
(voice, cellphone, etc.) initiate visual
effects via a microphone.
Surface: a cubist design sculpture based
on the image of a Polar Bear.

12. Surface
The cubist design of the sculpture is based directly
off the image of a Polar Bear. Abstracting this image
and working with deduction of design we arrive at a
multi faceted sculpture, creating a symphony of flat
surfaces and hard edges. This abstracted surface will
then be animated by the mean of projecting
mapping.
The sculpture materiality will be constructed out of
MDF board and painted to matte finish white.
Dimensions of the work will be approximately 6ft
tall by 9.5ft wide.

The act of projecting mapping will see the
surface of the sculpture bombarded with video/
graphics/ text relating to the fragile
environment theses colossal mammals call
home. With ethos to environmentalism.
