Structural Unemployment in the United States
Structural unemployment is the mismatch between the skill level of the unemployed and the available jobs. Structural unemployment is caused by external forces rather than the normal business cycle. This type of unemployment occurs when as a result of shifting economy that makes it difficult for certain groups of people to find employment. As compared to other types of unemployment, Structural unemployment is harder to correct. It can keep the rate of unemployment high even after a period of recession is over. It can also create a higher rate of unemployed if ignored for a long time by policy makers (Chen et al 247).
By looking at the history of the structural unemployment rate in the United States one can get a clear picture of what has transpired through the years. The country experienced the highest structural unemployment rate in 2005 which was at 5.1%. Since then the rate of structural unemployment has decreased significant to 4.55% in 2015 (Querci, 347). This has been attributed to improvement employment laws and significant growth in the United States economy. In 2005 when the rate was at its higher, the country realized the need to come up with appropriate measures to promote growth of the economy and reduce the rate of unemployment among its citizens.
There are two causes of structural unemployment. One of them is significant technological advancements in various industries (Vallas, 461). In most cases this is experienced in the manufacturing industry. Unskilled employees have been replaced by robots which are more effective. These employees must learn new skills more so get trained o how to operate computer systems for them to remain in the industry. They also have to learn how to operate the robots to perform the tasks they used to do. The second cause of structural unemployment in the country is trade agreements. Some of these agreements create unfavorable environment for some businesses making some organizations to move out of the country.
For instance, technological developments in the newspaper industry have created structural unemployment in the past few years. Most advertisers now opt to promote their products through web based advertising. People can now access news online rather than reading them from a physical newspaper. This caused significant layoff of newspaper employees such as printers, delivery route workers and journalists. This group of employees had skills that focused on the traditional news distribution methods. Their skills were therefore not required in the in the new approach to reporting. They had to get training again to acquire skills of how to use the new technologies for them to qualify for a job in the same area of specialty (Vallas, 462).
Another field that was significantly affected by technological advancements is farming. Many countries came into free trade agreements. This allowed global food organizations to acces.

Fixing Youth Unemployment
The Bureau Labor of Statistics (BLS) produces a monthly report concerning unemployment, and it indicates the state and strength of the economy. In October this year, the unemployment rate increased to 3.6% from 3.5% in the previous month (Tradingeconomics.com para 1). America has one of the most prolonged economic recoveries in its history, and despite the continual effort by the government to create jobs, full employment levels have not been reached. Unemployment has adverse consequences on the overall economy, and there is a loss of significant consumer spending. When unemployment levels rise, it can be financially destructive to an economy. Over two million youths are unemployed, and most have given up having permanent employment (Bls.gov para 8-9). Failure to have a stable job in early adulthood can have a significant impact on the lives of individuals. Young people complete college, begin searching for employment, and if they cannot find, they ultimately give up on being employed. Constant rejection and the state of the economy contributes to many unemployed youths in a country. It is, therefore, important for an economy to analyze the root causes of unemployment and fix the problem.
Understanding Youth Unemployment and its Causes
Unemployed people are those who do not have a job, have actively searched for work in the past four weeks, and are currently available for employment (Amadeo, para 1). BLS uses household surveys known as current population surveys to measure unemployment. It is a practice that has been conducted since 1940 when the government was responding to the Great Depression. The survey results help to understand the unemployment rates for different people in society like youths and adults. The unemployment rate among youths refers to the number of unemployed youths between the ages of 15-24 years when it is expressed as a percentage of the youth labor force. Figure 1 shows the fluctuating rates of unemployment from October 2018 to October 2019. In the US from April to June 2019, the unemployment rate rose by 615,000, and this increase was similar to the rise for the same period in 2018 (Bls.gov para 9). In July 2019, the number of unemployed youths was 2.1 million. Thus the government needs to identify causes and solutions to create employment opportunities such that all the youths contribute to the growth of the economy.

This document summarizes the key findings of a survey of HR professionals about the top workplace trends they foresee over the coming years. It identifies the top 10 trends for 2011, which include issues like rising healthcare costs, federal healthcare legislation, global competition, and the retirement of Baby Boomers. Compared to past surveys, more economic and political issues were cited as important trends. The document also lists the most common actions organizations are taking in response to these trends, such as linking employee performance to business goals and increasing productivity expectations. Finally, it discusses how demographic shifts, especially the aging workforce and the rising Millennial generation, will impact the workplace going forward.
This document discusses the growing economic insecurity faced by many Americans due to factors such as long-term unemployment, declining incomes, and rising healthcare costs. It notes that over 20% of Americans experience a major loss of income each year, higher than in previous recessions, and that nearly half would struggle financially within two months of a loss of income. This economic uncertainty has implications for businesses, lowering productivity and increasing health issues among employees. It poses challenges for human resources departments in terms of employee engagement, training, and career development programs in an environment where job security and traditional incentives are diminished.
The document discusses increasing unemployment rates and reasons for unemployment. It notes private sector employment has been negative for 10 years, with 8 million jobs lost during the recession. Unemployment duration and rates are at record highs. Reducing unemployment will require stimulating all three engines of the economy - consumers, businesses, and government - as each are currently struggling. The document proposes a non-profit jobs program as a potential "fourth engine" to reduce unemployment.

Need a reply 1
Amy Simons is an aunt to my mum. Amy passed on May 31, 2020, while surrounded by all her family members after a long fight with colon cancer; she was 48.
On December 21, 1972, Amy Simons was born in Redbone, Alabama, to the late Hadley and Pauline Simons. According to the story I was told by my mum, Amy was a wonderful and selfless person. She was the third child of four after Christine Simons, Reuben Simons, and her older sister to Raphael. The majority of her childhood and teenage years were in Alabama before relocating to New York for her college education at New York University. During her term in the school, she met Joshua, whom they bore their first child Fredrick in 1990. She deferred for one year before resuming and completing her Human Resource Management degree. They got married in 1991, after which they relocated back to Huntsville, Alabama. They opened a bakery in 1993 and were well known by the local community. She gave birth to her second child Diana in 1995; during this period, she began complaining about stomach discomfort. The medical assessment resulted in her having an operation that corrected the issue. In 1999, the Simons family relocated out to Redstone, Alabama, where they resided until Joshua's premature death in 2016.
After his death, she developed complications that were unidentified by numerous physicians. However, after consulting an oncologist in 2018, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. She underwent various sessions of chemotherapy and radiation therapy that extended her life. The affected parts of her colon were surgically removed, allowing her to recover without issue. However, cancer reemerged more aggressively; she died in hospital due to complications caused by the COVID-19 virus. Though her final months were trying and difficult, she maintained a positive attitude recognized by most community members who knew her. The notion was also shared by her doctors, who stated that she never complained and was always optimistic. Similar notions are expressed by the local law enforcement agents who were her close friends. Her baking skills further made her more popular, with the local police department being her primary market.
Amy was a driven and steadfast mother and member of the Redstone community. Her actions were focused on ensuring her children had all their requirements before focusing on others. Her role as the local “mum” made the locals cherish her personality. Her baking skills intrigued and captivated people from various counties and states. With her demise, she leaves behind two children and five grandchildren. Fredrick Simons is aged 31 years, with three children: Jackeline Simons, Chloe Simons, and Ryan Simons. Her daughter Diana aged 26, is married to Geoffrey Green with two children Brenda Green and Brian Green.
Amy’s main objective was to make her children and community happy; therefore, in memory of her desire, her bakery will host a commemo.

Payback Period: The payback period refers to the amount of time it takes to recover the cost of an investment. Simply put, the payback period is the length of time an investment reaches a break-even point. The desirability of an investment is directly related to its payback period. Shorter paybacks mean more attractive investments. The payback period is the cost of the investment divided by the annual cash flow. The shorter the payback, the more desirable the investment. Conversely, the longer the payback, the less desirable it is.
Net Present Value: Net Present Value (NPV) is the value of all future cash flows (positive and negative) over the entire life of an investment discounted to the present. NPV analysis is a form of intrinsic valuation and is used extensively across finance and accounting for determining the value of a business, investment security, capital project, new venture, cost reduction program, and anything that involves cash flow.
Internal Rate of Return: Internal rate of return (IRR) is the discount rate that makes the net present value of all cash flows (both positive and negative) equal to zero for a specific project or investment.
IRR: What Is It Used For?
The internal rate of return is used to evaluate projects or investments. The IRR estimates a project’s breakeven discount rate or rate of return, which indicates the project’s potential for profitability.
Based on IRR, a company will decide to either accept or reject a project. If the IRR of a new project exceeds a company’s required rate of return, that project will most likely be accepted. If IRR falls below the required rate of return, the project should be rejected.
IRR Formula?
You can use the following formula to calculate IRR:
0 (NPV) = P0 + P1/(1+IRR) + P2/(1+IRR)2 + P3/(1+IRR)3 + . . . +Pn/(1+IRR)n
Profitability Index Definition: Profitability index method measures the present value of benefits for every dollar investment. In other words, it involves the ratio that is created by comparing the ratio of the present value of future cash flows from a project to the initial investment in the project. The Profitability Index Method is often times compared similarly to the Net Present Value Method for their close proximity. One should use caution when utilizing both the NPV and profitability index methods in tandem. Often times, it has been found that both methods can rank projects in a different way. One project could possibly be ranked number 1 for one of the methods while it ranks dead last in the other. Use digression when using both in tandem.
There is relationship between profitability index and net present value method. If profitability index >1, the NPV is positive. If profitability index <1, NPV is negative. The profitability index is a relative measure of an investment’s value while NPV is an absolute measure.

Nature GeNetics VOLUME 46 | NUMBER 10 | OCTOBER 2014 1 0 8 9
A suite of forces and factors, including mutation, recombination,
selection, population history and gene duplication influence patterns
of intraspecific genetic variation. Distinguishing which factors have
shaped sequence variation across a genome requires extensive whole-
genome sequencing of multiple individuals, which has only recently
become tractable1. Most large-scale whole-genome resequencing
studies have focused on model and domesticated species1–5. However,
extensive sequencing of natural populations holds great promise for
advancing understanding of evolutionary biology, including identify-
ing functional variation and the molecular bases of adaptation. Recent
work in a number of species has identified genomic regions that show
signatures of positive selection, suggesting that such regions contain
loci that control adaptive traits4,6–8. Relatively few studies, however,
have combined genome-wide scans with phenotypic data to determine
whether computationally identified selected regions influence adap-
tive phenotypic variation5,9–13. Genome-wide studies of large natural
populations combined with phenotypic measurements are necessary
to determine which factors shape patterns of genetic variation within
species and, therefore, enhance understanding of adaptation.
With large geographic ranges spanning wide environmental gradi-
ents and a long history of research showing local adaptation14, forest
trees are ideal for examining the processes shaping genetic variation
in natural populations. Forest trees cover approximately 30% of ter-
restrial land area15, provide direct feedback to global climate15 and
are often foundation species that organize entire biotic communities
and biogeochemical systems16,17. Clearly, biotic and abiotic interac-
tions have influenced population sizes and distributions of forest
trees, leaving diagnostic signatures in the genomes of present-day
populations14,18,19. A deeper understanding of the evolutionary and
ecological forces that shaped these patterns will offer insights and
options for ecosystem management, applied tree improvement and
accelerated domestication efforts20.
Black cottonwood, Populus trichocarpa Torr. & Gray, is a dominant
riparian tree that has become a model for the advancement of genome-
level insights in forest trees21. The sequencing of 16 P. trichocarpa
genomes revealed widespread patterns of linkage disequilibrium (LD)
and population structure22 and extensive genecological studies have
revealed a high degree of adaptive phenotypic variation in growth,
vegetative phenology and physiological traits such as water-use effi-

Nature VS Nurture
Abstract
Nature vs Nurture is one of the oldest arguments known to the Psychology genre. For those who do not know; simply put, the underlying question is, can behaviors be inherited? Initially, upon answering the question without any regard to the actual research and experiments done in this field a conclusion was drawn that Nature outweighs Nurture and that the behaviors of men are innate in that they are inherited genes that have influence over our behaviors. Upon further investigation and deeper insight, it is of my belief that the behaviors of men are based not solely on the behavior of their parents and their genetic makeup but also, by socioeconomic, traditional, educational, religious, and many other external factors. This paper will demonstrate the multiple schools of thought and their perspective on behaviorism, specifically when it comes to the argument of Nature vs Nurture. These perspectives will be used in order to justify the position that was previously stated, that the behaviors of men are influenced not only by their biology but also by their upbringing and multiple external factors.
Nature versus Nurture is one of the oldest debates within Psychology. It is concerned with the extent to which aspects of behavior are a product of either inherited (i.e., genetic) or acquired (i.e., learned) characteristics. Previous to delving into this topic I took the stance that Nature outweighed Nurture and that human behaviors were innate in that they were solely influenced by one’s genetic makeup. After vigorous research on the topic an attempt to take the stance that aspects of behavior are a product of inherited characteristics. Most people no matter what their upbringing and socioeconomical positions are prone to specific types of behaviors due to their genetic makeup. Within this argumentative essay, the attempt to write about Nature vs Nurture taking the perspective that human behaviors are derived from a combination of the two. The plan is to investigate multiple schools of thought in regards to the topic in order to prove the theory which was previously stated; human behaviors are a product of both genetic and environmental influences.

Need a one response for each discussion post in 50 to 75 words
Discussion post 1

The sequencing of 16 P. trichocarpa
genomes revealed widespread patterns of linkage disequilibrium (LD)
and population structure22 and extensive genecological studies have
revealed a high degree of adaptive phenotypic variation in growth,
vegetative phenology and physiological traits such as water-use effi-
ciency and photosynthesis23–25, suggesting that local adaptation is
prevalent. To date, candidate gene–association analyses have revealed
loci with significant effects on phenotypic traits26,27. However, thus

Structural Unemployment in the United States
Structural unemployment is the mismatch between the skill
level of the unemployed and the available jobs. Structural
unemployment is caused by external forces rather than the
normal business cycle. This type of unemployment occurs when
as a result of shifting economy that makes it difficult for certain
groups of people to find employment. As compared to other
types of unemployment, Structural unemployment is harder to
correct. It can keep the rate of unemployment high even after a
period of recession is over. It can also create a higher rate of
unemployed if ignored for a long time by policy makers (Chen
et al 247).
By looking at the history of the structural unemployment
rate in the United States one can get a clear picture of what has
transpired through the years. The country experienced the
highest structural unemployment rate in 2005 which was at
5.1%. Since then the rate of structural unemployment has
decreased significant to 4.55% in 2015 (Querci, 347). This has
been attributed to improvement employment laws and
significant growth in the United States economy. In 2005 when
the rate was at its higher, the country realized the need to come
up with appropriate measures to promote growth of the economy
and reduce the rate of unemployment among its citizens.
There are two causes of structural unemployment. One of
them is significant technological advancements in various
industries (Vallas, 461). In most cases this is experienced in the
manufacturing industry. Unskilled employees have been
replaced by robots which are more effective. These employees
2. must learn new skills more so get trained o how to operate
computer systems for them to remain in the industry. They also
have to learn how to operate the robots to perform the tasks
they used to do. The second cause of structural unemployment
in the country is trade agreements. Some of these agreements
create unfavorable environment for some businesses making
some organizations to move out of the country.
For instance, technological developments in the newspaper
industry have created structural unemployment in the past few
years. Most advertisers now opt to promote their products
through web based advertising. People can now access news
online rather than reading them from a physical newspaper. This
caused significant layoff of newspaper employees such as
printers, delivery route workers and journalists. This group of
employees had skills that focused on the traditional news
distribution methods. Their skills were therefore not required in
the in the new approach to reporting. They had to get training
again to acquire skills of how to use the new technologies for
them to qualify for a job in the same area of specialty (Vallas,
462).
Another field that was significantly affected by
technological advancements is farming. Many countries came
into free trade agreements. This allowed global food
organizations to access markets that have traditionally been
reserved for small-scale farmers. This put them out of business
as they did not have enough financial muscles to compete with
global food corporations that sold their products at a lower
price. Such people had to abandon their farms and head to the
urban areas to search for work. This created structural
unemployment for a long time until they were retrained and
absorbed in the manufacturing industry.
In 2008, the country experienced financial crisis which left
many people without jobs. It is estimated that more than eight
million people lost their jobs (Arango et al., 24). In 2009,
housing was suppressed by a wave of foreclosures affecting the
phase of expansion of the business cycle. This led to more than
3. half of the jobless people to stay unemployed for more than six
months. This is because their experience and skills were
outdated and therefore they could not get employed. The older
jobless people were the most affected by this development.
While young people faced difficulties in getting employed, they
were not out for long as compared to the older group.
Young people either went back to school to acquire more
skills or found out low paying jobs. The unemployed duration
for the young people was 19.9weeks which was bad enough but
better as compared to that of older jobless people. People aged
between 54 years and 65 years were out of job for 44.6 weeks
which is almost 12 months. Those above this age group took a
period of 3.9 weeks to get a new job (Querci et al., 348).. This
forced many people in this group to get an early retirement.
There are various reasons as to why older people are more
affected by structural unemployment as compared to the young
people.
One of the reasons was because older people worker in
industries such as newspapers that were highly affected by
technological advancements. Older people were also less likely
to go to school and learn new skills to allow them get employed.
The new job opportunities were paying less than half what they
used to earn and therefore they were not willing to take them.
There was also age discrimination that was unacknowledged.
Employers believed in the young people because they had skills
to use new technologies and were also willing to take lower
pay. Older people owned their homes and therefore were less
likely to move in search of a new job.
Structural unemployment affects all US citizens by
increasing income inequality. This is because the older jobless
people do not have adequate technical skills to secure
themselves a job. The industry moved on without them leaving
them in the state of unemployment. This creates a mismatch
between the jobs being created and them. Multiple studies
support this ideal. Most companies are unable to find talented
and skilled employees. Most old people depend heavily on
4. Medicare and social security than they would if they were
employed. Most of them start drawing social security at the age
of 62 rather than waiting until when they are 65. This weighs
heavily on the federal budget (Chen, et al., 247).
Whenever unemployment gets high, the federal government
comes up with strategies to create jobs. The major approach
used by the government to create jobs is by making changes in
both monetary and fiscal policies. However, politics play a
major role in determining which approach should be used. The
Federal Reserve Bank controls the monetary policy. The Fed
helps in various ways to stimulate the economy for more jobs to
be created. One way to achieve this is to lower interest rates in
the overall economy making it cheaper for businesses and banks
to borrow money. The main aim is to encourage business to
expand and banks to banks to invest stimulating the economy
creating job opportunities.
The other approach is increasing the availability or amount
of money in circulation. This is normally achieved by busing
and selling financial tools such as bonds or treasury bills (Chen,
et al., 249). Businesses are able to hire more employees and
banks are able to invest more enters the economy. If these two
approaches are not able to contain the situation, the government
employs various fiscal policies to be able to reverse the
economy and allow businesses to be able to hire more people.
Some of the things that the government can do include cutting
task for businesses, hire people to provide services such as
infrastructure maintenance or even increase government
spending in specific sectors.

Structural Unemployment in the United States
Structural unemployment is the mismatch between the skill
level of the unemployed and the available jobs. Structural
unemployment is caused by external forces rather than the
normal business cycle. This type of unemployment occurs when
as a result of shifting economy that makes it difficult for certain
groups of people to find employment. As compared to other
types of unemployment, Structural unemployment is harder to
correct. It can keep the rate of unemployment high even after a
6. period of recession is over.
These employees
must learn new skills more so get trained o how to operate
computer systems for them to remain in the industry. They also
have to learn how to operate the robots to perform the tasks
they used to do. The second cause of structural unemployment
in the country is trade agreements. Some of these agreements
create unfavorable environment for some businesses making
some organizations to move out of the country.
For instance, technological developments in the newspaper
industry have created structural unemployment in the past few
years. Most advertisers now opt to promote their products
through web based advertising. People can now access news
online rather than reading them from a physical newspaper. This
caused significant layoff of newspaper employees such as
printers, delivery route workers and journalists. This group of
employees had skills that focused on the traditional news
distribution methods. Their skills were therefore not required in
the in the new approach to reporting. They had to get training
7. again to acquire skills of how to use the new technologies for
them to qualify for a job in the same area of specialty (Vallas,
462).
