The Mystic Krewe of Nyx is a Mardi Gras Krewe made up of women from diverse backgrounds. Each October, they volunteer with Rebuilding Together New Orleans to complete home repairs for low-income homeowners who cannot afford repairs. This year, 15 Krewe of Nyx sisters spent two days repairing Ms. Darlene's home, a recently widowed single mother, by painting, repairing siding, weatherizing windows, and landscaping. The repairs have made Ms. Darlene's home brighter, safer, and more energy efficient. The Krewe of Nyx enjoys volunteering and sees how their work can change lives, and they hope future funding will help serve more homeowners in need.

2. The Mystic Krewe of Nyx is a Mardi Gras Krewe that
unites women of diverse backgrounds for fun,
friendship, and the merriment of the Mardi Gras
season.
To foster teamwork and camaraderie for Nyx sisters, we
serve each October with Rebuilding Together New
Orleans during the annual October Build. Rebuilding
Together New Orleans improves the quality of life for
low-income homeowners through home repair and
community revitalization and have served over 1300
homeowners since 1988.
This year 15 Mystic Krewe of Kyx sisters served 16 hours
during two days, completing home repairs at Ms.
Darlene’s home in the Algiers neighborhood. Ms.
Darlene is a single mother, recently widowed, who did
not have the financial or physical ability to make
needed repairs to restore her home.

4. The Mystic Krewe of Nyx painted the exterior, repaired
siding, weatherized windows, and landscaped for Ms.
Darlene. She now has a brighter, safer and more
energy-efficient home along with a new confidence
and 15 new friends!
The Mystic Krewe of Nyx is looking forward to partnering
with Rebuilding Together New Orleans every October
for years to come. Serving with RTNO, the Nyx sisters see
how much just a few hours on a weekend can change
a family’s life and we learned new skills. We already
have a waitlist for next year and can’t wait to serve
again!

6. Rebuilding Together will utilize any funding granted to
them by the Super Service challenge to serve more lowincome homeowners who don’t have the resources to
make needed repairs.
For Nyx sisters, we have a heart for single mothers like
Ms. Darlene and we hope the money will serve another
single mother next year so she can focus on raising her
children, not stress over how to make repairs to her
