5. The Group Managing Director and founder of
Peninsula Group, Peter Done shared on a Forbes
leadership article a really good tip for making
work meetings productive: establish a chair.
A chair can be allocated to keep control of the discussions. For
example, if the meeting gets stuck on one point or some
people are dominating the conversation, the chair is
responsible for moving the agenda on or including the quiet
attendees in the conversation. Moreover, it is responsible for
avoiding arguments during the meeting. Adding, one of the
members of the chair will be writing down the important
points shared at the meeting.
1. Have a chair to keep discussion under control.
Keep the meeting
as productive as
possible
6. Victor Lipman, principal of Howling Wolf Management
gives us this useful tip on a Forbes article:
Ask yourself objectively:
-Do all of these people really need to attend?
-Who can receive a brief email summary or
quick call afterwards?
Try to reduce your attendee list and make a more productive
meeting by leading and talking to a small group of people. Large
groups are harder to handle, plus some of the times, companies
make the big mistake on asking everybody to attend a meeting
where the topics to discuss are not even for all the department’s
matter.
2. Be picky on the attendee list. Don’t make it too crowded
7. 3. Lead to productive dialogues.
The leadership coach and the President of Paradigm Pursuits,
Cindy Pogrund, gives the following recommendation published
in a Forbes article.
During a meeting, avoid making monologue, so include the attendees. By
doing this, not only will they feel part of the company because they can
share their ideas, but it can also reduce the times of repeating yourself
over and over again.
Cindy says that if at a meeting you get to the point where you feel you
are repeating yourself a lot, ask for a specific response to those who seem
a little bit lost. Be assertive with your questions and answers; always be
polite.
Avoid repeating yourself over
and over again
