1) Building a Christmas tree out of recycled plastic bottles that was built by 12th grade students and recognized in the local newspaper.
2) An 8th grade project to build a model landfill to learn about landfill operations and biodegradation.
3) A "Twist" project by 10th graders promoting energy efficiency through surveys and informational sessions with primary school students.

It includes the Basilica containing the tombs of the children, the Holy Trinity Church constructed in 2004-2007, a museum dedicated to the Fatima apparitions where visitors can experience recreations, and the Chapel of Apparitions. The Museum of the Life of Christ opened in 2007 and features 210 wax figures depicting scenes from Jesus' life in 33 scenes through a modern architectural design. While tourism improves the local economy and creates jobs, it can also result in too many visitors and high prices.

Alfredo Roque Gameiro was a Portuguese painter and designer skilled in watercolor painting. He produced many works depicting the sea and coastal areas between 1916-1924. These include "Sea", "Adraga Beach", and "Marine Cave". Gameiro won numerous awards including gold medals from the Salon de Paris in 1900 and the International Exhibition of Rio de Janeiro in 1908. He was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1923.
