Professional Experience
Royal Navy – Weapons and Electrical Engineer. (22nd
April 2012 – Present)
Selected Accomplishments and experience:
• Passing out of phase 1 training.
The training was a 10-week intensive course consisting of high demand for physical fitness, very
high attention to detail regarding the kit and equipment that was provided to us, very strict
timekeeping schedules and a strong teamwork ethic.
Upon completing this training course I was given the mark of (A-) which is regarded as a very
good pass.
• Passing out of phase 2 training.
The training was a 32-week course which concentrated more on the professional side of my career
in the Royal Navy. This course was split up into many different academic classes which are stated
in my qualifications I achieved.
• Joining my first ship.
2. Upon completing phase 2 training I was drafted to Plymouth to join my first ship (HMS Montrose)
The transition from training to actually using the skills I had learned in class onboard a warship
proved to be a very easy evolution, proving that the training that I had received to be of the very
highest quality.
Joining my first ship gave me the chance to proceed with my career task book which contributed
towards my NVQ Level 2. I completed my career task book under the time required.
Onboard HMS Montrose I embarked on a 7-month operational tour of the Middle East and Syria in
which we spent a lot of time at sea patrolling high risk piracy areas, working a 12 on 12 off shift
pattern for 2 months straight was a very demanding time but gave me extensive knowledge and
experience of what was required of my position within the Engineering department.
My time onboard also gave me extensive experience in: Fault finding, Earth testing, PAT Testing
(portable appliance testing) and general engineering duties which included jobs to be completed
on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. These jobs ranged from de-rusting upper deck Comms
equipment right through to dismantling and reassembling large pieces of machinery for its
monthly check.
I was a duty roundsperson in which I had to check all of the running equipment within the
Weapons engineering department on an hourly basis, making sure the equipment was running to
its maximum capability while also being part of the immediate response fire and emergency team.
Frankland Tree Services – Grounds man/Trainee Climber (2008-2012)
Selected accomplishments and experience.
• In my time working for Frankland Tree services I worked in and around the Cheshire area on
private jobs on people’s properties, mainly pruning or completely removing trees.
This required very fine attention to detail, there were many dangers involved with this job so
teamwork was key to everybody’s safety as well as the preservation of the client’s property.
• We also had contracts with local councils doing vehicle clearance on the street trees and hedges
which threw up a whole host of different challenges because of the nature of the job, working on
very busy highways.
• The company had a remove 1 plant one policy so we mainly had contracts with Trafford council
planting street trees in residential areas, working closely with the general public regarding the
location of the trees as to not obstruct anyone’s parking areas, this proved to be challenging
sometimes as not everybody could see what we were trying to achieve, this gave me some great
customer service experience.
