2. Overview
My further education and career thus far have given me the opportunity to both learn and put into practice various aspects of teamwork
and people management/leadership skills.
Successfully achieving an Honours Degree in Outdoor Leadership allowed me the opportunity to both study and become more involved
in my passion of outdoor recreational activities. This enhanced my learning of both soft skills in the classroom along with the hard skills
necessary to be safe in a demanding outdoor environment.
As my personal skills developed so did my instructional and teaching abilities. Upon achieving the MLTB SPA (Single Pitch Award) I was
able to teach and demonstrate skills, on single pitch crags and at indoor climbing walls, to individuals and groups ranging from complete
novice to minimal experience. I have consolidated these skills working with school groups and scout groups helping to make climbing an
enjoyable and safe learning experience for all involved.
Coupled with the learning process of a rope access technician working in a variety of challenging roles through various industry sectors,
I now have a broad range of skills including surveying a project and assessing its requirements, writing detailed method statements and
rescue plans through to the successful implementation of those plans. I have been involved in both working to the method statements I
have prepared and also handing them over to another team for them to successfully carry the job through to completion. I am equally at
ease dealing with clients and helping to assess their needs as I am to working with my team and contractors undertaking the task in
hand.
I have PCN qualifications in two disciplines; this has allowed me to become a useful addition to teams in terms of inspection. I am
competent at carrying out both MPI and UT (thickness checking) inspections and am well versed in both the reading of and preparation
of isometric drawings.
Due to the nature of offshore work I am also very adept at managing a workload to make the best use of weather conditions and limit
down time.
General
I am a meticulous and ambitious Level 3 rope access technician with over seven years of experience in a supervisory role. I am
technically adept, with a detailed knowledge/understanding of rope access techniques and procedures with an enthusiastic and
hardworking outlook.
