Editor's Notes

• #3 High school connection- I’ve taken some technology classes here at CHS and have always had an interest in animation. So, for my Culminating Project I chose to reasarch stop-motion animation and make a stop-motion video.
• #4 As for my previous experience, I have made a few stop motion videos before but they were never as long as the one I made for my culminating project and it didn’t have any music playing throughout the videos either. Also, Unlike my culminating project, I had help on those ones and never really did one by myself.
• #5 Now, As for my research, I researched how to use windows movie maker, How to make stop motion videos, How to become an animator, The history of stop motion and how to make a storyboard.
• #6 According towindows.microsoft.com, I learned how to import and add music to my video in windows movie maker. As for how to clip a video and exporting clips, I also got it off of windows.microsoft.com.
• #7 According to wikihow.com, You need to first, Get objects use in your movie. It can be legos, clay, etc.
• #8 The second thing I got off wikihow is to set up the objects in a particular position and within the "set.“ Then, Place your camera in front of the "set" that you are going to take photos of.
• #9 Then Take a single photo of the object in the selected position. After that, Move the object bit by bit, in very small movements each time you take a photo.
• #10 Then,Import the pictures into the desired video editing program. Edit it into a video, Add music and basically do whatever you want with the video, Then export it as a video.
• #11 According to wikihow.com, You can pursue a degree in fine arts or animation. Whichever degree you choose, you should be sure the school has respected animation classes that will teach you about 2D and 3D animation in your program. As for Specialties, There are many in animation like gaming, mobile media, special effects, website animation, TV animation, etc.
• #12 Also, According to animationcareerreview.com, There are colleges here in washington state where you can get a degree in animation like the art institute of seattle, DigiPen institute of technology, etc.
• #13 What I got off the website known as wikipedia, Stop motion animation has a long history in film. It was often used to show objects moving as if by magic.
• #14 According to wikipedia,The first instance of the stop motion technique can be credited to Albert E. Smith and J. Stuart Blackton. They created the stop motion technique in animaiton.
• #15 What I got from wikipedia is that sometime later, there was another well known animator known as Willis O' Brien. His work on The Lost World (1925) is well known, but he is most admired for his work on King Kong (1933), a milestone of his films made possible by stop motion animation.
• #16 Another thing from wikipedia is that O'Brien's protege and eventual successor in Hollywood was Ray Harryhausen. After learning under O'Brien on the film Mighty Joe Young (1949), Harryhausen would go on to create the effects for a string of successful and memorable films over the next three decades. These included It Came From Beneath The Sea (1955), Jason and the Argonauts (1963), The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973) and Clash Of The Titans (1981).
• #17 From what I’ve learned on wikihow.com on storyboarding, You need to do it before you start filming the video. It allows you to get a good Idea of what the video is suppose to be like. It requires you to draw pictures (usually frame by frame) of what’s going on. Also, if possible if there’s writing space, You can also write describing on what’s going on in the video.
• #18 Now here are the steps I did to make the video
• #19 Here’s my storyboard
• #21 My supplies
• #23 My filming setup
• #25 Me editing it
• #29 And now for the official video
• #31 One of the lessons I learned from this is to always keep a consistent lighting during the film. Another is how to edit it and add music. A third lesson on what I learned during this experience is how to become an animator. I also learned how to make a stop motion animation by myself. Finally, I also learned how to make a storyboard.
• #32 As for what I could do in my future with these kinds of skills, I could get a career in animation. I could also just make another video for fun and used what I learned from making this video and apply it to any future videos of mine.
• #39 Now for some questions.
