The storyboard outlines shots for a music video featuring soldiers from different eras singing the same song. It includes close-ups of the singers' mouths and faces, cutaways showing a knight, cowboy and soldier, and shots of the band performing. The reveal at the end shows that the singers and cutaway actors are all the same person, with the soldiers from different times singing the same lyrics. Rapid cuts will match the rhythm of the music and shots will get more energetic during louder parts of the song.
2. • Whilst the storyboards were made
to consolidate our current ideas making them
also gave us new ideas. One of these was to
have the lines in brackets sung by a
mysterious figure where you can only see his
mouth. The reveal at the end of the video will
be when all the actor remove the various
things masking their faces to show that the
soldiers from the different eras were the ones
singing the lines.
3. The first 3 shots show the cutaway actors in their own locations.
The first starts walking from the side of the shot and when the
drum like noise happens at 0:04 the shot cuts to the second
actor walking from the point the last left off. The same happens
for the third actor at 0:12. When the guitar starts the shot will
cut to a close up of the guitar for 2 seconds. Then a series of
rapid shot cuts from 0:20 to 0:23 matching the beat of the
music. When the drum-beat starts at 0:22 it will cut to the
drummer.
4. For the first line of the song there will be a close up on
the right side of the lead singer's face. For the next few
lines there will be a medium shot of the singer panning to
right. For the lyrics marked in brackets the shots here will
cut to an extreme close up of a mouth. The second group
of lyrics also have shots focused on the singer
5. Next there will be a high angle establishing shot
of the entire band. Then the shots will quickly
shift to the different performers ending on a
shot from behind the singer before fading to
white. The next shot will be at the start of the
chorus, the first of the cutaways. this is a close
up on the knight's eyes visible through the
helmet. This shot will be paralleled at the start
of each cutaway.
6. The camera will follow the knight's feet as he walks
forwards for a few seconds. Then there will be a shot
of the shield before shifting to a full shot of the
knight to end the cutaway on. The lyrics of the
chorus will have ended so the shot cuts to a
guitarist, then the drummer and then the other
guitarist.
7. The next shot will still be during the instrumental,
a two shot of the drummer and guitarist. the next
verse begins with a close up on the singer. After
the first line there will be another two shot this
time of the other guitarist and the singer to add
some variation. The second line of bracketed lyrics
will instead cut to the guitarist looking around
slightly confused listening to the voice.
8. From 1:44 the band will be more energetic to
match the pace of the song. This will be started
with a full band shot. After this there will be a
shot from a fig rig to get in amongst thee
performers. getting all these shots from different
angle will take multiple shoots. At the end of the
verse the camera will move and tilt downwards to
simulate falling before fading to white for the
second chorus.
9. As with the first cutaway the first shot will be a
close up of the actors face with only their eyes
visible. this time it will be a cowboy wearing a
bandana to cover his face. The same pattern will
e followed with the walking shot then a full body
shot. When the instrumental starts there will be
quick low angle shots of the performers with
instruments.
10. At 2:18 the shot will show the singer shouting
into the microphone followed by an extreme
close up of the mouth shouting his line. During
the instrumental there will a close up shot of the
fingers on the guitar strings, an over the shoulder
shot of the drums and head headbanging
followed by rapid cuts between the performers
matching the beat until 2:38.
11. 2:38-2:40 will show the singer for the shout he
does before again matching the rhythm to the
pace of the cuts until fading to white for the final
chorus at 2:52.
12. Continues with the high angle shots until 3:16 to
allow enough time for the ending. There will be a
two second shot of the knight removing the
helmet up to his eyes. Then the cowboy will be
shown removing the bandana before we see the
last man remove the gas mask revealing that they
are the same person as well as being the
secondary voice.
