Hannah Morse evaluated the rough edit of her music video and identified several changes she wants to make to improve the overall look. She wants to adjust filters, brightness, and contrasts on many shots to give them a vintage feel and match the upbeat style set by the music. Hannah also plans to combine some shots using split screens and may retake or replace a few low-quality or blurry shots. Her goal is to enhance visual consistency and quality through these edits.

1. Evaluation - Hannah Morse
I am going to evaluate and analysis the good and bad points of the rough edit of my music video. I
am going to decide what things I could change to make the overall look of the music video better.
0:15 to 0:19 – I want to change the filter of this shot to give it a grainier and vintage feel to it.
0:21 to 0:23 – I want to also change this filter to make it have a vintage feel to it and also make the
contrast brighter.
0:37 to 0:45 – I would also like to change the filter of this shot to also give it a vintage feel to it.
0:56 to 1:01 – I would like to put these two shots together as a split screen diagonally.
1:03 to 1:05 – I want to change the contrast on this shot to make it brighter as it’s a bit too dark on
the face.
1:06 to 1:13 – I will be using a split screen vertically, as the shot on the left fades out the one on the
right will fade in. This will continue for 8 different shots.
1:14 to 1:21 – I want to change the contrast of this shot and make it brighter as it is too dark
compared to the other shots in the video. I may also change the filter to give it a vintage feel to it.
1:26 to 1:30 – I am going to make this to shots into a vertical split screen so you can see them both
at the same time.
1:34 to 1:41 – This shot may have to be re-done as it isn’t very good quality and is a bit blurry.
1:42 to 1:43 – I want to change the filter of this shot so that it is brighter which means I will also
change the contrast of it.
1:54 to 1:58 – I will change the filter of this shot by giving it a vintage feel to it which gives it a bit less
contrast.
2:04 to 2:08 – I want to change this shot so that it is 3 vertical split screens of the same shot but each
section will be at a different contrast. For example, the first one will be at low contrast whereas the
last one will be at a high contrast.
2:11 to 2:13 – I am going to make the contrast on this higher so that the shot is brighter and matches
the one before this.
2:28 to 2:37 – All of this shots I am going to change the contrast of them by making them brighter as
they are too dark compared to the other shots previously.
2:39 to 2:40 – I want to change the contrast of this shot by making it brighter so that it fits with all
the previous shots of being bright and sunny.
2:43 to 2:47 – With this shot I want to make it into three vertical split screens with each one being a
different contrast or filter.
2:52 to 2:55 – This shot might be replaced with another shot that is similar as the one that has been
used here isn’t very clear.
2. Evaluation - Hannah Morse
2:56 to 2:59 – I want to change the filter of these shots by giving them a vintage feel to it and also
may be changing the contrast to make them brighter.
3:00 to 3:06 – This shot may have to be re-taken or taken out as it is a bit too dark to be used and
blurry.
3:07 to 3:10 – I am going to change the contrast of these shots to make them brighter as they are
too dark and don’t fit in with the other shots.
3:11 to 3:15 – I want to change the filter of this shot to match all the other ones that have a vintage
feel to it. For example, like the other scenic shot at the beginning of the video on the train.
3:43 to 3:50 – I also want to change the filter of this shot to match all of the other scenic ones to give
it a vintage feel to it. As well as this I might change the contrast to make the shot look brighter.
Overall, I think that my rough copy of my music video has quite an upbeat and happy feel to it. The
reasons for this mainly to do with the music but also the way I have put my shots help with this. You
can see this by the way I have cut my shots in time with the music which makes it flow better. I also
think that the various types of shots that I have been used throughout help with the overall feel of
the music video. For example, some of the handheld shots that have been used show the audience
that it’s meant to be seen as a ‘day in the life’ and not necessarily to be classed as ‘professional’
music video.
In comparison to this, I have given some shots that I would like to change to make the overall look of
the music video better. By doing this it will help to improve the way that it is presented and showed
to an audience. For example, some shots may need to be re-taken due to them not being good
quality or too dark. Instead of taking the time of re-shooting them I could try and change the
contrast which I have shown above in my description of changing various shots. Another thing I have
mentioned a lot is the filter. I would like to change a lot of my shots filter to something kind of
vintage. By doing this to the majority of shots or the same kind of shots will give the music video
some consistency as well as making it look better. I would also like to edit some split screens into the
music video.
