2. FRAGMENTATION OF THE BODY
Fragmentation of the body involves close ups of the body show such as( breasts, eyes, mouth, ears , the body
is then obscured by the objects in the surroundings.
We used the Rihanna video – S&M to portray this, in the pictures below starting from the bottom left, there is a
close up of Rihanna eating a strawberry and the background colour is red ,her lipstick is red, her nails are
red and the strawberry itself is red , the colour red conveys a sexual image. The centre image shows a
close up of Rihanna’s derrière in latex dress up lingerie which also portrays a sexual objectification within
the bedroom. The last image is a close up of Rihanna’s breasts the shot emphasise the breasts area, she
is also wearing almost see through clothing which matches her skin.

3. RITUAL CELEBRATIONS
Ritual celebrations involve parties on the beach, street,
black artist are usually happy in the video, but white artist
are usually demonist. We chose Chris Brown – Yeah 3x
because it involves people from the city dancing in the
street and having a good time. We also chose Drake –
HYFR which involves drake himself at his Bar mitzvah
which is a Jewish ritual celebration.

4. HORROR
The horror motif involves extreme
violence ,Hell ,War, Satan and
Monsters
We chose three videos and the first ne
was Lil Wayne ft Bruno Mars- Mirror
which depicts a image of lil Wayne
/Satan on the cross which reflects
Jesus on the cross and there is also
Satan on the left hand side. Below that
image we chose Run this town – Jay-z
ft Rihanna and Kanye west, the image
portrays The trinity of darkness as you
can see they are all dressed in black
and there is three of them. Lastly we
chose the game- Red nation where it
shows people in satanic masks , as
you can see the first image and the
last image has a similarity where they
both have red backgrounds and red
symbolizes hell and the devil.

5. OTHERS FEATURES IN MUSIC VIDEOS
There are various features that are used in
music videos such animations, shots ,
shots into bright light , sun , fire , breaks
into the narrative for the artist to sing,
clips from the film that songs featured in
and cross cutting from narrative to
concert footage. We chose Bruno mars-
You are amazing which consists of a
tape film being used to create an
animation of the female in the video,
There were many animations used
throughout the video. We chose
Rihanna’ video – Rude boy to portray
the use on animations within music
videos. There was also the use of
graphics for the words which say “RUDE
BOY” behind her playing the drums.

6. MYSTICAL AND MYSTERIOUS
The Mystical and mysterious motif involves the use of
gothic mansions , make believe places from the past or
fairytale lands and also post apoloyptic.
We have chosen the video on the right Kanye west – glory
this shows Kanye in a mysterious atmosphere were there
are mystical creatures that are half human and half animal
and he is standing in the centre of the mysterious place
with a halo on top of his head dressed in black. Another
example we choose was the Katy Perry video – California
Girls this conveys Katy in fairy like location where
everything is made out of candy, we can tell that this is
make believe.
