2. Chess
I had the idea to make the DPS theme a chess board. The idea is that the
two bands are making moves, although ironically not trying to defeat each
other, but merge together to create something special. I will use a picture
of a chess board for the background image, then use chess pieces around
the pages to add character. Whilst chess isn’t related to music, the
connotations it can bring interlink with the ideas of theme, which are
discussed in the next two slides.
3. Colour Scheme
The colour scheme will be a sepia effect throughout, to which the golden
effect of the images will be the key colour. Elsewhere, the DPS's main colours
will be black and red. I will include black and red chess pieces around the
pages and the title will be split between the two colours;
e.g. - Submotion vs Cinematic.
The use of red symbolises a number of different things. It could mean
warning or danger, yet it could also mean the opposite, being love and
warmness. The use of red characterises the collaboration between the two
bands in the article for my DPS.
Black could symbolise anything from power, elegance, formality, death, evil,
and mystery. I believe the use of black in my article means mystery, as the
two bands are mysterious and create amazing new sounds. They are also
elegant, with some formality due to the nature of the songs as well.
4. DPS - Title
A screen shot of the title for my double page spread:
Here, the ‘VS’ in red
separates ‘Submotion’ and
‘Cinematic’ from each
other.
The background of the
DPS has a chess board,
The use of two red chess which has been made
pieces plays true to the 90% transparent to make
theme, a black chess piece the foreground look
has it’s place else where clearer. There is a tint of
on the DPS. yellow as well to keep in
line with the sepia theme.
