Multiple disabilities refers to a combination of conditions that significantly impact a student's ability to learn and achieve success academically. Students with multiple disabilities typically have severe physical, cognitive, and communication impairments and require extensive support across many skill areas, though their intelligence can be average or above. Their disabilities impact intellectual functioning, motor development, adaptive skills, sensory impairments, and communication skills. Effective teaching strategies for students with multiple disabilities include developing individualized education programs through a multidisciplinary process, using assistive technology, augmentative and alternative communication devices, peer tutoring, and tangible symbol systems.
As part of the presentation “Inclusive educative gaming: a holistic view”, ViPi was presented on Friday 13 at 15.15 to 16.30 in room G2 Cailliau in the session “Video Games for Learning” at the Media and Learning event.
The event took place at the Flemish Ministry of Education Headquarters (Hendrik Consciencegebouw, Koning Albert II-laan 15, 1210 Brussels).
The ViPi KA3 LLL project (511792-LLP-1-2010-1-GR-KA3-KA3NW) has been partially funded under the Lifelong Learning program, subprogramme KA3 ICT. This presentation reflects the views only of the author(s), and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.
Mobile learning is a new educational technology and introduces both exciting capabilities and complexity into the learning design process, but with very few guidelines. ADL’s MoTIF project will explore new types of learning and design approaches that take advantage of the capabilities of the mobile platform. The MoTIF project will result in interventions such as strategies, materials, products, and guidelines as solutions to the problems, but will also advance our knowledge about the characteristics of these interventions and the processes involved in designing and developing them. This survey report is the first step in the design-based research approach and will drive the needs assessment for the project. The survey report will reveal the MoTIF project objectives as well as highlight other relevant findings from the data collected from the 831 survey respondents from around the world.

You are a teacher who has a few students that require you to differentiate your instruction. Three have been diagnosed with ADHD, while one has an auditory disability, and requires a special device in order to hear. In addition, you have a number of students that have mild learning disabilities that impact all areas, especially reading and writing. As you prepare for the school year, you ask yourself, "What resources do I have in order to help me meet my students' needs?"
Virtual hrd and ePortfolios: Higher Education to Workforce ContinuumElisabethEBennett
Presented at AAEEBL July 2012, this presentation discusses ePortofolios as a microcosm of Virtual HRD. Medical Education is used as an example of the continuum. Conclusions include ethical issues and potential pitfalls when ePortfolios are used for multiple purposes for multiple stakeholders.

Producing Instructional Videos Through Collaborative-Action Research for Peop...Ann Davidson
This paper discusses a collaborative action research we conducted with a group of four interveners and five young adults with an intellectual disability, who were taking part in a government service provider program. The research aimed at developing abilities to become autonomous using video. A group of five young adults with intellectual disabilities used instructional videos on iPods for a duration of ten weeks, to try to develop the abilities needed for autonomous living such as cooking, using a stove, using a washing machine and keeping oneself safe. We will present the results from a questionnaire we designed specifically for the project, which had the sole purpose of identifying the needs of participants in terms of social integration abilities, along with the iterative process of the video production and validation. In addition this paper will provide reflections about the experience to identify directions for future research.
