Mulcair –vs- Harper
Analysis of NDP comments made on policies
Economy/Trade Comments
Economy comments / Economic Club
1. Response 1 – Source -
http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/key-industry-and-market-indicators-for-may-2015-canada-and-north-america
a. Exports are down but that was driven by low oil prices. If you exclude oil then exports are up by 587. The majority of the increase is
led by food processing, Transportation Equipment and Forestry. How come Mulcair does not mention this in his speech? (see Slide
13)
b. Business investment is down, but that is led by low capital spending in the Oil Sands, but no comment, why? BMO is saying they
forecast spending in Q3 and Q4 - http://www.bmonesbittburns.com/economics/forecast/ca/cdamodel.pdf
c. GDP is down – GDP is down, but if you look at MFG, Utilities and retail sales then you will see they have been strong. Yet, Mulcair
does not mention these sectors, why?
http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/key-industry-and-market-indicators-for-april-2015-canada-and-north-america
d. Mulcair quotes household spending as such I will assumed he means retail sales. The retail sales are up 1.4% from April 2014 to April
2015, but no comment, why?
http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/key-industry-and-market-indicators-for-april-2015-canada-and-north-america
e. How come Mulcair does not mention the global economy? It seems like China and the EU are struggling, so how is that Harper’s
fault? http://www.marketwatch.com/story/as-chinas-economy-slows-innovation-accelerates-2015-06-16. The Chinese slowdown
has been happening for many months, but no comment, why? Canada and China have close 20B in combined trade, but no
comment (see slide #11) http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/federal-government-programs-canada
f. Mulcair says little on FDI and yet FDI drives exports -

Middle Class
Middle Class• I hear the same comments that Harper has killed the middle class when it is has been bad provincial policies led by various
provincial government that felt social policy at all costs is the solution to run their various budgets. Here are facts/videos
on the middle class - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqLDHQ-iJU8 (is this a lie? or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOl37VcG89c (is this a lie? - http://globalnews.ca/.../tax-cuts-since-2005-net.../ (is
this a lie?) or http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/taxation-policies (are my slides 8-11 wrong).
• I hear that the above information is wrong, but no one refutes that my information is wrong via providing facts that
support socialism is working in Canada.
• BTW: Hiking the corporation tax to 18-22% range will add 2-8% more to cost of your iPhone, iPad, Clothes, transit passes,
food, beer, wine, etc. http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/corporation-taxation-canada-44675640. BTW – Where
does Mulcair stand on Corporate tax? Oops, Mulcair cannot remember the rate:
http://www.canadianmanufacturing.com/financing/ndp-leader-mulcairs-corporate-tax-policy-needs-clarity-150026/. This
about month old and we still have no response on rates, why?

• Canada also has done well compared to its peers across the world -

• Canada is seeing shift up the ladder in terms of income/wealth, but no comment, why?
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/top-business-stories/canadians-scale-the-income-ladder-with-the-best-of-them

policies!

why?
Mulcair Job quality

• Questions that Mulcair ignores:
• Where does Mulcair comment on the skills gaps?
• Where does Mulcair comment on how automation has change how companies operate, i.e. eCommerce (online retail, EFT, etc.) or
advance manufacturing?
• Where does Mulcair talk about the fact provinces like Ontario have added university spots, but never align education with the
requirement of business?
NDP comments
• http://operationmaple.ca/leave-steve-2015-complete-list
• NDP likes to criticize Harper’s policies, but in many cases the comments are
either statement and/or opinion. It is rarity to see any opinion backup with
facts unless they are driven either by activist or union or personal belief when
it comes to policies

• It seems that Mulcair deflects comments from anti-oil sands people
when it comes to their tweets, right?

• Facts
• Facts
• Canada is ranked in the top 10 for oil
• Oil production supports the economy - http://www.cme-mec.ca/download.php?file=hnyxdi1h.pdf
• Oil production is about 2% of the GDP, but contributes to many facets of the economy (midstream, downstream, etc)
• Oil pipelines are safest mode to move oil –vs- rail
• Oil sands lack the capacity to expand oil
• Provinces like Ontario are pushing their green policies over oil for political reason. Ontario is worry about GHG from
pipelines as way to veto the East-West Pipeline
#88 The Harper government has "steered

• So, how are those fundamentals working for Ontario that the Minister of Finance says are strong? Let’s look at some
factors that drive business investment:
• Mining Regulations – Ontario is rank 28th
in the world for new mining investment, but not comment from Diaz or
Sousa, why? http://www.northernlife.ca/news/localNews/2015/03/20-mineral-strategy-Sudbury.aspx
• Hydro Rates – Chamber Commerce has said 1 in 20 companies will close in Ontario due to high hydro rates. Where is
Diaz on hydro rates?

• ORPP – Diaz/Unifor says he does support ORRP, right?

#129 Harper Shrugs as Foreigners
Snap up Canadian-Owned Companies.
• Investment Act - https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/ica-lic.nsf/eng/home
• The left never reads the investment act or how harper and his team have
turned mergers -
https://www.osler.com/en/resources/regulations/2010/canadian-government-rejects
• The article never touches on the fact business need the size to
expand which is why many mergers happen as part of the business
cycle – FYI – There are no company names, why?
• The article talks about CETA, but never once mention that resources
are the responsibility of the provinces, why?
http://ablawg.ca/2012/09/27/peter-lougheeds-section-92a/
#139 He trashed the idea of a voluntary CPP
when the Liberals proposed it, yet he now
proposes the same thing
• NDP proposes hiking CPP which would mean hiking taxes
• Harper is providing options are part supporting retirement savings
• NDP also never discusses the TFSA
• NDP never discusses that people are saving for retirement
• NDP never discusses the pooling plans, right?
#348 Income splitting. Making the rich,
richer and the poor, poorer
• Income tax splitting benefits a good portion of the population
• Tax cuts since 2006 have helped the low to middle class
• Income tax splitting helps income inequality
• NDP ignores tax changes since 2006, why?
353 Quietly dismantling our hard
fought-for Healthcare
• Harper continues to fund healthcare, but is tying it to GDP growth
• NDP never comments on the waste of healthcare dollars by provinces
• NDP never comments on funding being sustainable
• NDP never comments on the fact healthcare needs to embraced innovation
#121 Corporate Canada's cash in tax havens
exploded to $199 billion under Stephen Harper
• Many of you must have taken LPC or NDP economic course? I think you need to look at what is happening in the market. Companies may
be hoarding cash, but at some point they will be looking at re-investing that cash as their shareholders required more of return that 5-6%
on their investment.
• http://ww2.cfo.com/cash-management/2014/09/u-s-corporate-cash-holdings-drop-5/. Since you are too busy then let me paraphrase it for
you: “Corporate capital spending “has been rising pretty steadily since the end of the recession,” Forbes also noted:
• http://deloitte.wsj.com/cfo/2014/12/04/how-record-cash-reserves-influence-corporate-behavior/?mod=wsjcfo_hp_deloitte. Companies
are starting to spend moneys!
• Apple holds 10% of the cash reserves:
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/apple-still-on-top-as-us-corporate-cash-holdings-reach-173-trillion-2015-05-07
• Technology companies skewed the numbers: http://www.ft.com/fastft/319821/cash-hoarding-us-companies-hits-1.73-trillion. Capital
expenditures are up in 2014.
• Top 50 account for 63% of the total - http://ww2.cfo.com/cash-flow/2015/05/corporate-cash-hoard-hits-record-1-73-trillion/
• Canada needs infrastructure, like pipelines or port development or other infrastructure changes. So, why have provinces like Wynne
slowing pipelines expansion: http://www.ndp.ca/news/justin-trudeau-late-to-party-pipelines or
http://www.humboldtjournal.ca/news/butting-heads-with-eastern-provinces-over-energy-east-pipeline-1.1658820 or

#121 Corporate Canada's cash in tax havens
exploded to $199 billion under Stephen Harper
• Capital Investment
• My comments on cash flow is provide support that capital investment has been happening, but a slow pace. Companies
are slowing re-investing cash from balance sheet into areas like R&D, Capital Assets, share buybacks, dividends, mergers
and acquisitions.
• http://www.gbm.scotiabank.com/English/bns_econ/fxout.pdf. Companies that are focused on exports as such will be
looking at spending in capital equipment to support their growth
• Small to Medium Business Struggles - http://www.cfib-fcei.ca/cfib-documents/rr3349.pdf
• EI cuts: http://www.cfib-fcei.ca/english/article/6564-small-biz-job-credit-release.html

• US Corporate Taxation http://taxfoundation.org/sites/taxfoundation.org/files/docs/TaxFoundation_ITCI_2014.pdf.
Obama would like to change the Corporate Tax Rates:
http://www.taxjusticeblog.org/archive/2015/04/good_-_and_bad_-_ways_to_fund.php#.VU316vlVhBc. Obama is looking
at changing the rates which then would influence how Deferred Income taxes are reporting as such it would drive up
income tax payable to Obama and his government.
Economic Club/Jobs
• Mulcair talks about job quality and youth unemployment, but again in summary. Let’s look at facts
• Ontario has increased the # of spaces for university students, but did they ever aligned those with jobs of
the today and the future?
http://static1.1.sqspcdn.com/static/f/1493895/25691274/1416506638937/Final+Skills+Shortage+CFCM+October+201
• Harper has provided funding for skills and university/college education via social transfers -
http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/provincial-transfers-and-program-spending, There is
approximately $4B more for CST, but no comment. We all know the provinces control delivery of post-
secondary as such why is Mulcair not call out for his statements. It seems like healthcare or other areas it
can all be solved with more money, right? (See slide 3)
• If you have a bad provincial policies that drove out business, i.e. hydro rates -
http://www.thestar.com/business/2014/02/26/ontarios_big_industries_plead_for_lower_hydro_rates.html
or no emphasis on the skills trades then you start seeing issues with the youth.
• I do not buy his comment that 2/3 of jobs created since 2008 are part-time jobs.
http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/key-industry-and-market-indicators-for-may-2015-canada-and-north-ameri
. See slide 108. If you look were we are now then you will see that many new jobs are in the trades,
manufacturing, construction, etc. These aforementioned jobs pay more than minimum wage – see slide
110.
• Mulcair is doing fear mongering with facts that are less than factual. It is too bad that I was not in
attendance as I would have drilled him on his comments.
Mulcair / Job creation
• Mulcair’s comment/Economic Club
Comment on Jobs:
•Since 2010 there has been 722K full-time jobs and 118K part-time jobs created in Canada. So, 86% of the new jobs are full-time. So,
where is the 80% number you quoting coming from in terms of its accuracy?
•The main sector of growth are the following sectors
• Accommodation/food services approximately 98K
• Healthcare approximately 249K – this ties to more money being spent on healthcare by provinces to support need for
additional services
• Professional jobs approximately 170K
• Construction approximately 220K – does this not benefit skill trades and tied to the housing market being solid in Canada
• Where are the numbers that support this calculation?
• Where are the comments on FIT (
http://www.therebel.media/trudeau_advisor_gerald_butts_green_energy_policies_cost_ontario_300_000_jobs_admits_liberal_think_tank
. NDP wants to push for more green, right?
Program Spending
Mulcair and Seniors
• Mulcair comment – Seniors
• Comment:
• How is Mulcair going to pay for these changes? CPP is payroll tax as such will Mulcair being
hiking payroll taxes?
• OAS was never designed to be the only source of income
• CD Howe -
http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canadians-are-saving-enough-for-retirement-says-c-d-howe-study-1
. It seems to me that Mulcair is trying to pander for votes without real facts. If seniors are
struggling it has more to do with bad provincial policies –

Veterans Affairs
• Mulcair quotes/comments –
• Comment
• Mulcair’s comment are vague as he says nothing on what will be done to support vets.
• Vets in general have been treated fairly with some following through cracks. The Vets affairs continues

Corporate Tax
Corporations also pay into EI and CPP along with other taxes.
•Fact 1 – Pension Funds own shares in companies - http://www.cppib.com/en/public-media/news-releases/2015/CPPIB-year-end-2015.html

•Fact 3 - Social Programs - http://www.fin.gc.ca/afr-rfa/2014/afr-rfa-eng.pdf. In 2013-2014 Federal government transfer 42.4B to the
provinces to support Social Services and Healthcare. Corporation direct taxation (Corporation Tax/EI/Duties) accounts for 1/3 of interprovincial
transfers. So, do you still dislike corporations?) http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/corporation-taxation-canada-44675640

http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/irving-shipbuilding-holds-job-fair-in-fort-mcmurray-to-lure-oil-workers-east-1.3141636
•Fact 5 – Canada has very competitive corporate tax rates compare to G-8, but is down on the list when it comes to OECD.

•Mulcair has no understanding of tax policies, especially the impact of rates. It seems to me that Mulcair is trying to play to low informed
voters as saying he is savior for middle class, right?
•BTW: Canada has one the best middle class in the world, but no comment from Mulcair, why?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V7JDvyAIvk. This is rant without any real facts when it comes to the middle class. Here are links of
middle class: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqLDHQ-iJU8 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOl37VcG89c. So, are these links on
Canada middle class lies? If so, then prove me wrong with actual facts that support middle class. There are issues with the middle class, but
that is driven by bad provincial policies, i.e. carbon tax/pricing, health premium, hydro rates, etc.

Corporate Tax
•NDP Supporter, Here is simple question for you "Defend Mulcair's policies to where the
private sector supports the hiking of taxes". It is simple request that to this date has not
been defended with any valid links from the Chamber of Commerce or CFIB or CAPP or
CME or other trade/business association. It seems to me that Mulcair is the one that is
inconsistent with his comments. Right? Mulcair tells unions he hates corporate welfare,
right?

. So, are these comments lies and if so then defend why these comments are lies. All I have
seen is people say “Mulcair will look at average rates with OECD”, but little else in
statement. The fact is Canada ranking overall for taxation is 23 within OECD, but Mulcair
never mention this ranking, why?

• Healthcare - http://thechronicleherald.ca/canada/121141-premiers-ottawa-to-cut-health-funding-by-36b-over-10-years. – Cost $3.6
• Infrastructure – Gas Tax (http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/mulcair-promises-to-give-cities-extra-cent-from-gas-tax-1.2410101) – Cost $1.5B
• OAS changes - http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/taxes/is-old-age-security-truly-unsustainable-1.1145910) – this costs does not kick in
until 2023 – The rebel comment http://www.ggfl.ca/blog/publications/new-rules-for-old-age-security-and-canada-pension-plan. The
annual costs could be $12B
• Other programs like R&D could add another $500M to $1B (see mulcair’s speech - http://www.ndp.ca/news/tom-mulcairs-speech-
economic-club-canada)
• *** I estimated the above would cost $11B. So, how is Mulcair going to raise the money for his spending?
• The analysis is based on the annual Report - http://www.fin.gc.ca/afr-rfa/2014/index-eng.asp
• Canada’s corporate taxation (see page 11 of the annual report) which will show $35B at average rate of 15%
(http://www.kpmg.com/Ca/en/IssuesAndInsights/ArticlesPublications/TaxRates/Substantively-Enacted-Tax-Rates-General-
Corporation.pdf). So, if we can estimate $1.5B on average per % rate in corporate tax. Let’s say that Mulcair increases corporate tax by 4%
to bring it to 19% then he would see $6.0B.
• Mulcair could bump the GST up as an option and that would bring in $5B estimated (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-
labrador/economist-wade-locke-says-hst-hike-easiest-fairest-way-to-increase-revenue-1.2975815)
• Mulcair could cut military spending (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32bySE5UMw4)
Mulcair Platform Cost
•Income tax Splitting - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/taxation-policies or http://www.adamsandassociates.ca/latest-news/vern-
krishna-income-splitting-is-fair-financial-post/.
•So, how is mulcair going to fund his platform? It seems to me tax hikes are the only way, right? The onus is on Mulcair to provide support of
his plan including proper costing, especially how he said he would keep corporate tax rates competitive with OECD. Yet, Canada has some
highest corporate tax rates within OECD (see slide 17 - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/corporation-taxation-canada-44675640). FYI
– I tried to explain that if you hike corporation tax then business will respond with their own gap action as part of targeting their net income
either for shareholders (pension funds) or private owners. There is also issues with plugging income back into a business as such if you hike
rates then business are less likely to plug earnings back into their business. I show the impact of corporate tax rates using AB (see slide 15 -
http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/alberta-49372634), but was criticized that business will not raise prices. It just goes to show you
how little left knows about pricing. We could highlight the fact is under mulcair’s plan then you are likely to see 8-10% increase in your iPhone
or iPad or new clothes or food or PS4/XBOX games, etc.

Exports are down but that was driven by low oil prices. If you exclude oil then exports are up by 587. The majority of the increase is led by food processing, Transportation Equipment and Forestry. #121 Corporate Canada's cash in tax havens  exploded to $199 billion under Stephen Harper  • Many ofyou must have taken LPC or NDP economic course? I think you need to look at what is happening in the market. Companies may be hoarding cash, but at some point they will be looking at re-investing that cash as their shareholders required more of return that 5-6% on their investment. • http://ww2.cfo.com/cash-management/2014/09/u-s-corporate-cash-holdings-drop-5/. Since you are too busy then let me paraphrase it for you: “Corporate capital spending “has been rising pretty steadily since the end of the recession,” Forbes also noted: • http://deloitte.wsj.com/cfo/2014/12/04/how-record-cash-reserves-influence-corporate-behavior/?mod=wsjcfo_hp_deloitte. Economic Club/Jobs • Mulcairtalks about job quality and youth unemployment, but again in summary. Let’s look at facts • Ontario has increased the # of spaces for university students, but did they ever aligned those with jobs of the today and the future? http://static1.1.sqspcdn.com/static/f/1493895/25691274/1416506638937/Final+Skills+Shortage+CFCM+October+201 • Harper has provided funding for skills and university/college education via social transfers - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/provincial-transfers-and-program-spending, There is approximately $4B more for CST, but no comment. We all know the provinces control delivery of post- secondary as such why is Mulcair not call out for his statements. It seems like healthcare or other areas it can all be solved with more money, right? (See slide 3) • If you have a bad provincial policies that drove out business, i.e. hydro rates - http://www.thestar.com/business/2014/02/26/ontarios_big_industries_plead_for_lower_hydro_rates.html or no emphasis on the skills trades then you start seeing issues with the youth. • I do not buy his comment that 2/3 of jobs created since 2008 are part-time jobs. http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/key-industry-and-market-indicators-for-may-2015-canada-and-north-ameri . See slide 108. If you look were we are now then you will see that many new jobs are in the trades, manufacturing, construction, etc. These aforementioned jobs pay more than minimum wage – see slide 110. • Mulcair is doing fear mongering with facts that are less than factual. It is too bad that I was not in attendance as I would have drilled him on his comments.

So, 86% of the new jobs are full-time. So, where is the 80% number you quoting coming from in terms of its accuracy? •The main sector of growth are the following sectors • Accommodation/food services approximately 98K • Healthcare approximately 249K – this ties to more money being spent on healthcare by provinces to support need for additional services • Professional jobs approximately 170K • Construction approximately 220K – does this not benefit skill trades and tied to the housing market being solid in Canada • Where are the numbers that support this calculation? • Where are the comments on FIT ( http://www.therebel.media/trudeau_advisor_gerald_butts_green_energy_policies_cost_ontario_300_000_jobs_admits_liberal_think_tank . It seems to me that Mulcair is trying to play to low informed voters as saying he is savior for middle class, right? •BTW: Canada has one the best middle class in the world, but no comment from Mulcair, why? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V7JDvyAIvk. Corporate Tax •NDP Supporter,Here is simple question for you "Defend Mulcair's policies to where the private sector supports the hiking of taxes". It is simple request that to this date has not been defended with any valid links from the Chamber of Commerce or CFIB or CAPP or CME or other trade/business association. It seems to me that Mulcair is the one that is inconsistent with his comments. Right? Mulcair tells unions he hates corporate welfare, right? http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/tom-mulcair-targets-freeloader-corporations-in-speech-to-teamst . •Jason Myers (CME) and others have called out Mulcair for his inconsistency with corporate tax http://www.cme-mec.ca/?lid=JCKNC-E742G-1W6JA&comaction=show&cid=HRH7K-9UE34-ACUS8 or http://www.canadianmanufacturing.com/financing/ndp-leader-mulcairs-corporate-tax-policy-needs . So, are these comments lies and if so then defend why these comments are lies. All I have seen is people say “Mulcair will look at average rates with OECD”, but little else in statement. The fact is Canada ranking overall for taxation is 23 within OECD, but Mulcair never mention this ranking, why? http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/corporation-taxation-canada-44675640

Mulcair Platform Cost •The NDP is making the following promises • Daycare (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/mulcair-pitches-plan-for-15-a-day-child-care/article21086778/) – Cost $5B (PQ program failed, right? http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-daycare-fees-to-climb-to-20-per-day-for-highest-earning-families-1.2841994) • Healthcare - http://thechronicleherald.ca/canada/121141-premiers-ottawa-to-cut-health-funding-by-36b-over-10-years. – Cost $3.6 • Infrastructure – Gas Tax (http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/mulcair-promises-to-give-cities-extra-cent-from-gas-tax-1.2410101) – Cost $1.5B • OAS changes - http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/taxes/is-old-age-security-truly-unsustainable-1.1145910) – this costs does not kick in until 2023 – The rebel comment http://www.ggfl.ca/blog/publications/new-rules-for-old-age-security-and-canada-pension-plan. The annual costs could be $12B • Other programs like R&D could add another $500M to $1B (see mulcair’s speech - http://www.ndp.ca/news/tom-mulcairs-speech- economic-club-canada) • *** I estimated the above would cost $11B. So, how is Mulcair going to raise the money for his spending? • The analysis is based on the annual Report - http://www.fin.gc.ca/afr-rfa/2014/index-eng.asp • Canada’s corporate taxation (see page 11 of the annual report) which will show $35B at average rate of 15% (http://www.kpmg.com/Ca/en/IssuesAndInsights/ArticlesPublications/TaxRates/Substantively-Enacted-Tax-Rates-General- Corporation.pdf). So, if we can estimate $1.5B on average per % rate in corporate tax. Let’s say that Mulcair increases corporate tax by 4% to bring it to 19% then he would see $6.0B. • Mulcair could bump the GST up as an option and that would bring in $5B estimated (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland- labrador/economist-wade-locke-says-hst-hike-easiest-fairest-way-to-increase-revenue-1.2975815) • Mulcair could cut military spending (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32bySE5UMw4)

Mulcair Platform Cost •Incometax Splitting - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/taxation-policies or http://www.adamsandassociates.ca/latest-news/vern- krishna-income-splitting-is-fair-financial-post/. •So, how is mulcair going to fund his platform? It seems to me tax hikes are the only way, right? The onus is on Mulcair to provide support of his plan including proper costing, especially how he said he would keep corporate tax rates competitive with OECD. Yet, Canada has some highest corporate tax rates within OECD (see slide 17 - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/corporation-taxation-canada-44675640). FYI – I tried to explain that if you hike corporation tax then business will respond with their own gap action as part of targeting their net income either for shareholders (pension funds) or private owners. There is also issues with plugging income back into a business as such if you hike rates then business are less likely to plug earnings back into their business. I show the impact of corporate tax rates using AB (see slide 15 - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/alberta-49372634), but was criticized that business will not raise prices. It just goes to show you how little left knows about pricing. We could highlight the fact is under mulcair’s plan then you are likely to see 8-10% increase in your iPhone or iPad or new clothes or food or PS4/XBOX games, etc.

It seems you call me a troll, right? The only reason people call me a troll is they cannot defend their opinion with facts, right? Let me crunch a few things based on the below links – Since 2010 there has been 722K full-time jobs and 118K part-time jobs created in Canada. So, 86% of the new jobs are full-time. So, where is the 80% number you quoting coming from in terms of its accuracy? The main sector of growth are the following sectors Accommodation/food services approximately 98K Healthcare approximately 249K – this ties to more money being spent on healthcare by provinces to support need for additional services Professional jobs approximately 170K Construction approximately 220K – does this not benefit skill trades and tied to the housing market being solid in Canada Summary: The bulk of jobs are in areas that pay good salaries. http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/labor93a-eng.htm. The only sector that would see the bulk of minimum wage would be accommodation/services. • #32 http://petition.ndp.ca/veterans There have been extensive and considerable improvements in services, programs and benefits for most veterans. I personally find that these infographics are helpful ways to provide context when folks resort to that sort of thing. http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/news/vac-responds/info-graphics/before-after-nvc http://globalnews.ca/news/1687415/additional-200m-announced-for-military-mental-health-programs-over-6-years/?hootPostID=6f2d83f608f12062709f617ae1ba4b98 http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/about-us/reports/departmental-financial-statements/2013-14#s20 http://thechronicleherald.ca/opinion/1251141-leger-veterans%E2%80%99-anti-tory-operation-could-backfire http://www.nationalnewswatch.com/2014/12/09/harper-partially-disowns-veterans-charter-as-opposition-demands-fantino-resign/#.VIewsjHF_Mq http://www.veterans.gc.ca/pdf/deptReports/rpp/2014-2015/vac-acc-web-pdf-eng.pdf http://lethbridgeherald.com/commentary/letters-to-the-editor/2014/12/27/veterans-story-being-misrepresented/ RPP – Vets - http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/about-us/reports/report-on-plans-and-priorities http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/veteran-affairs-canada http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/military-spending-for-canada http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/provincial-transfers-and-program-spending     In 1997-1998 the federal government spent 1.9B on veterans affairs (https://www.fin.gc.ca/budget95/fact/facts.pdf and actually cut $232M from the 1994-1995 budget. The Conservatives are now spending $3.5B on veteran’s affairs (http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/about-us/reports/departmental-financial-statements/2013-14#s30).   So, I went the veterans affairs site and review the statement of operations as such I was able to see funding from 2007-2008 started at $3.2B and now is at $3.5B in 2013. On average the federal government increase expenses by about 2% per year over that time frame.     It hard to go back to LPC era as information is fragmented as such difficult to fine. However, the evidence that I have found was the Federal Government recognized a problem in 2001 as such was looking at the funding for Veterans Affairs (http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/about-us/reports/five-year-plans/2001-2006/2004-update). There was no details on any funding increases within the document.   I welcome links that support the LPC actually improve benefits and/or lives of veterans!   I am not saying more should not be done as there are some concerns with the delivering of the current programs. LPC is not about solution, but creating the fear that Conservatives are bad for Canada and little else!   Source: http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/veteran-affairs-canada http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/military-spending-for-canada http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/provincial-transfers-and-program-spending   Here is what has happen since the new minister took over the office: BTW: The new minister of vets banned a radical group as they were not about solution, but smearing the government. FYI - I have spoken to vets via different blogs and they said the programs are good to them. Vets have said they like to see some changes, but they have gotten the care they required. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/erin-o-toole-veterans-affairs-minister-moves-to-address-complaints-1.2993985/ or http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/conservatives-unveil-new-benefits-for-injured-veterans-caregivers-1.2284395

Guess basic research is not skill with the LPC!   Assad wants to work with Iraqi forces to stop ISIS: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/isis-bashar-al-assad-wants-syria-iraq-cooperation-counter-islamic-state-threat-1493393   Really? How about we have radicals with their own beliefs as such will force those beliefs on to other people? The root cause of everything goes back to people that have own view of religion. ISIS is the Nazis of this generation. You can spin things all you want back to Harper, but the reality is your post lacks the historical context of the issues facing today's world. FYI - Why don't you speak to a Christian in Syria to see what he/she thinks of ISIS? Why don't you speak to Egyptians that live in fear due to their beliefs? Many countries do not protect the minority with charter of rights like Canada. So, you comment have no business being posted unless you are prepared the root cause of terrorism! FYI - Kate, You are about quick hits, right? Are you taking direction from the NDP/LPC?   Wow! It is funny that countries we allow people come here to live in peace do not have the same charter of rights! I am all about people practicing their religious belief as long as they are not forced on to people. ISIS and similar group are forcing their radical belief on to people by killing those that are not with them in terms of support. History as seen many groups like Jonestown Jhttp://history1900s.about.com/od/1970s/p/jonestown.htm or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Branch_Davidians or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boko_Haram or other groups. ISIS is committing genocide, but nothing is said, why? The world has taken out radicals in the past as such ISIS is just another group that is threat to world peace!     Tre, What secret trials? If you are on trial for a crime then there is evidence to support the charges! It is funny how people think that police are knocking on your tomorrow to arrest you. Police will build a case before they arrest anyone. How many of you watch police dramas like Miami Vice, CSI, etc.? Do you not see what happens in those shows? I guess fear and emotion supersedes people's comprehension to actual facts of the C-51!   NDP/Tim Friessen, https://bccla.org/2015/03/8-things-you-need-to-know-about-bill-c-51/.   The government is protecting pipelines, dams, etc. They are not restricting the right to protest, but will watch people that make these types of protest. FYI – Terrorist said they would attack the fabric of the country.   The government will watch traffic including comments and affiliation. The government will only respond after a particular pattern is shown to be threat to safety - http://www.660news.com/2015/06/09/winnipeg-man-arrested-on-terrorism-suspicion-remains-in-custody/. Do you not think people should be accountable for their actions including support of known terrorist or groups?     The government wants to prevent potential terrorist acts as such expanding what is term to acts of terrorism is the right approach. http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/suspect-in-attack-on-2-soldiers-in-quebec-had-become-radicalized-pmo-1.2062419. So, why is not expanding actions of people not appropriate?   Freedoms are protected, but more monitoring will come into place. People are reading too much into freedom of speech being denied http://ktvharris.com/2015/06/02/billc51-facts-myths-fears/   The government is protecting who is being monitored as way to not let suspects know that is the case. Police put people under surveillance all the time, but nothing is said, why? https://www.priv.gc.ca/information/guide/vs_060301_e.asp . FYI Cameras are being used in business or intersections. Technology is used all the time to help solved cases, but nothing is said, why? http://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/rsrcs/pblctns/2013-vltn-crm-prvntn-prgrm/index-eng.aspx. What is wrong with coordinating of information/sharing info? Interpol and/or other police forces share info, right? http://www.interpol.int/INTERPOL-expertise/Databases   The expanded on the options is a good thing as it will give police time to check out a person. Police will have built a case, but this allows them options like psychology profiles and/or other assessment. Part of the role of police is prevent crime or terrorist actions.   CSIS should have expanded roles as their tools are designed to look for terrorism trends/actions. RCMP and local police do not have the manpower/skill to monitored terrorism act as such need another agency to support these actions. I see better coordination between CSIS and RCMP. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2015/03/27/does-bill-c-51-reflect-reality-for-canadians.html   Are you familiar with social media analytics? It seems to me you actions are already being followed by marketers, right? So, do you have issues with marketers? If so, then ditch the cell phone, facebook, internet, etc (http://www.business2community.com/social-media/social-media-analytics-going-evolve-2015-01099021)
  • #38 http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/thomas-mulcair-canada-has-no-place-in-this-war http://www.vanguardcanada.com/2015/07/13/mulcairs-military/ Here is what I told Jack Harris on the Military   FYI – Jack Harris never responded to my email, why?   Dear Mr. Harris,   What is the NDP commitment for the Military? It seems to me you will cut military spending like the CF18 replacement and/or frigate contract, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32bySE5UMw4 Where does Mulcair stand on the Military? http://www.vanguardcanada.com/2015/07/13/mulcairs-military/     Facts   Fact 1 - Harper has put money back into the Military after years of neglect under the LPC - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/military-spending-for-canada (see slide 4).  I bet you argue the % spent of GDP on the military is lower than previous period. right? http://www.tradingeconomics.com/canada/gdp. GDP is now close to 2 trillion from 1B in the 1990s. So, in absolute dollars there is now $18B spent on the military.  http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/about-reports-pubs-report-plan-priorities/2015-toc.page      Fact 2 - Harper is replacing equipment that is old and prone to breakdowns - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/six-cyclone-helicopters-delivered-as-part-of-tories-miltary-spending-spree/article25046506/ or http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/new-canadian-warships-to-be-designed-and-built-over-30-years-in-26b-project. Will you honor these purchases?  If not, then you should be telling PQ, ON, NS and BC that will not see a boost from spending that their jobs are in jeopardy. It seems Ms. Leslie and Mr. Davies provincial areas are the ones at risk when it comes to jobs losses, right?  I should remind you that Mulcair's speech "http://www.ndp.ca/news/tom-mulcairs-speech-economic-club-canada" quotes "Aerospace is a good example. If President Obama can go to China to help seal the deal for Boeing, I will go to world’s largest aerospace trade events - England’s Farnborough, or Le Bourget in Paris to fight for our crucial aerospace sector.” Harper - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/canada-china-agree-on-series-of-deals-haul-fall-short-of-2012-trip/article21513359/. Yet, no comment, why?    Fact 3 - Harper has set up funds to support Aerospace, but no comment by the NDP, why https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/ito-oti.nsf/eng/h_00022.html or http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2014/12/07/ottawa_investing_millions_in_pratt_and_whitney_maintaining_and_creating_1500_jobs.html. Does your party even look at existing programs? http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/federal-government-programs-canada       Fact 4 - the new frigate and/or purchases benefit the aerospace/defense industry which is key area for Quebec, but no comment, why? https://www.defenceandsecurity.ca/media/article&id=273&t=c. Yet, the defense industry pays very good wages? So, why not come out say what your party will do with the military?   Fact 5 - Harper never said he would put armed soldiers in the cities. Harper did say he wanted the Military more agile, right? http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/soldiers-with-guns-in-our-cities-in-canada-turns-out-paul-martin-was-right. NDP is great at twisting words around to their favor, but the problem is they are low on facts and heavy on emotion, right? http://www.citynews.ca/2015/04/21/by-the-numbers-2015-federal-budget/   Fact 6 - Canada's military has roles to play in natural disaster or NATO/UN mission. Canada needs to prepare to honor any commitment of NATO. It seems to me that neither the NDP nor LPC seems to understand Canada's role within NATO and/or UN, why? I guess it is all about emotion and not the facts, right?     It is funny how the NDP talks a great story, but never backup its statements with actual facts that align to reality.    Regards, Paul Young
