Smartphone fpga based balloon payload using cots componentseSAT Journals
Abstract
This paper describes a low cost architecture of multi sensor remote sensing balloon payload design for prototyping student’s micro-satellite payload project. Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) components are being used to implement the payload instrumentation. COTS components provide high processing performance, low power consumption, high reliability, low cost and are easily available. The main architecture of the system consists of commercially available Smartphone, FPGA (field-programmable gate-array) and microcontroller connected together along with sensors and telemetry systems.
Presently available smart phones are combination of multiple advanced sensors, different communication channels, powerful operating system and multi-core processors with large non-volatile memory. This also supports high resolution imaging devices for remote sensing application. The smart phone is interfaced to a microcontroller to expand its I/O to interface sensors and FPGA. FPGA supported high speed onboard parallel processing needs and complex controls. Flexible configurations for data acquisition system is provided using built-in A/D converters, counters and timers available in FPGA and microcontroller. The proposed system is an experimental balloon payload for monitoring atmospheric parameters like temperature, humidity, air pollution etc. This can also monitor city traffic, agricultural field and city landscape for security and surveillance.

This article explains about development of Internet of Things (IoT) based decision support for vehicle drivers using GPS and GSM modules. This project is helpful to avoid the road accidents by maintaining the proper speed limit at different locations such as school zones, hospital regions and so on. Initially an admin database is created with a web server. The data base contains six parts such as S.No, longitude1, latitude1, longitude2, latitude2, speed limit. The web server has been implemented with a PHP page which provides a connection to the databases allowing web clients to send queries to data base. A PC application is distributed among local guides; they can provide speed limits of the allocated regions. A GPS receiver is used to provide the vehicle’s location and a GSM module is configured as GPRS to provide internet connection through mobile data. An Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) is used to display the speed limit of the vehicle’s location. Arduino UNO (At mega 328P) board is used to interface all the components. The instructions to the vehicle drivers are given by using OLED display when the location is tracked by GPRS, and also an alarm sounds at extreme conditions.

Design of field programmable gate array-based data processing system for mul...IJECEIAES
A global positioning system (GPS) sensor is needed for a ballistic/moving object to do position tracking. In previous study, a multi GPS processing system was made using several microcontrollers and data processing cannot be done simultaneously. Therefore, it was considered as ineffective system. In this research, field programmable gate array (FPGA)-based data processing system for multi-GPS receiver was proposed. The proposed system was designed to reduce root mean square error (RMSE). There are two main processes in the proposed system which work in parallel, i.e. data parsing and data processing. Raw data from GPS receiver was collected and calculated to get average value, then sent it through serial communication to show result. Experimental results confirm the RMSE value of the proposed system is smaller than the conventional one. The RMSE for latitude, longitude, and altitude decrease by 38.46%, 58.28%, and 24.80%, respectively.
Serial interface module for ethernet based applicationseSAT Journals
Abstract The introduction of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) which includes thousands of logic gates has made it feasible to prove specific software function on the particular hardware. This reduces the design time and the execution time and makes the embedded system to respond faster as a real time system. This paper serial interface module for Ethernet based Applications deals with the Study and the implementation of the Tri-mode Ethernet Media access control (TEMAC) which is present in the FPGA core. The Virtex-5 FPGA supports the 10Mbps, 100Mbps as well as 1000Mbps but in this paper contains the implementation of 1000Mbps (1Gigabit bits per second) data transfer rate. This project basically deals with communication established between the FPGA core and the PC. The IP core is interfaced with its transceiver module and communicated to the PC using Ethernet medium. The communication established is verified by interfacing the FIFO and the UART VHDL codes to the TEMAC IP core present on the Virtex-5 FPGA. The result at each module is verified on the Chipscope pro analyzer and the packet transmitted from FPGA to the PC is verified on the Wireshark software. Key Words: FPGA, Ethernet, TEMAC core , and Gigabit.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

1. UB-SEDS Flight Computer Development Flight Test
Overview
UB-SEDS has been working on the development of custom electronic suit of rocketry flight
computer equipment for the use in both our current level of High Power rockets, and future
high power rockets. Currently, we are entering the testing phase for the core unit, which is a
basic flight computer, and are also in the development phase for attachments for GPS and
direct telemetry, with hopes of finishing all three by early May. With flight testing, we hope to
gain data on the flight readiness of the system. This includes both sensor data, unit stability
under real world flight conditions, and accuracy of the unit. Configuration on the design is
currently modular, with software being setup to accommodate multiple linked or unlinked
units. A single integrated unit is possible if desired for the payload. Total payload mass is
estimated to be under 500g. Below is a summary of the various devices we would like to flight
test. With the GPS Attachment, any flight profile is suitable for the flight computer, although a
parabolic or semi-parabolic would be ideal.
