PROJECT
To setup a web portal for the intranet facility of the hypothetical tech company LemonIT to
provide the users with an elegant and graphical way of sharing information in the form of text
and graphics.
It should also facilitate it's users to maintain a common calendar, make announcements, hold
discussions online and hence help the users to collaborate the work they perform with
individual teams and as a whole.

• Simple but powerful graphical application to create site collections without having to write

SITES - website designed to be a contributor,
to be able to change them, edit them ,
join in.
COMMUNITIES - helps you work with other people.
Share documents, work on them.
CONTENTS - keeps knowledge about immense amount
of contents and then helps u know when things
change. So, SharePoint gives a place to keep content.
So instead of keeping documents in local folders,
shared drives or emailing back and forth to people,
one can just upload.
SEARCH - with all such content, it gets difficult to
keep check. SharePoint is a massive super smart
search engine. It lets you search not only your
own content. But even people and does this securely.
So that no one gets access to what they shouldn't.
INSIGHTS - SharePoint brings all information
together. But not just together but to help
understand it better, presenting in a way that it
makes sense.
COMPOSITES - SP helps build on top of itself, no platform,
no OS can program can know what exactly you need.
SP is meant to be customized.

• But this is not necessarily a minus as foundation provides themes to give a more professional and elegant look
• Lots of code to integrate features various apps
• No need to code and also inability to embed css and js codes in the foundation version
ACHIEVEMENTS
• Only passive. But elegant and professional themes.
• Drag and drop applications

• Explain various types of SharePoint available
• Created site collection
• Site collection named LemonIT
• Look and feel
• Quick wizard to lay the foundation
Created 4 different User Groups, one for each project and classified the users created by Infrastructure Team
A team home page for each individual project
A common discussion forum
• Create Permissions for groups
• Granted selective access to the members of different groups to different parts of the website
• SPS Administrator has access to the entire web portal and can use available feature
• Group members have access to LemonIT home page but can only read
• Group members have access to their groups home page where they can contribute whereas
the group leader can edit also
• The Discussion forum is common to all where all registered users can contribute and share
RESULTS
WHAT WE UNDERSTOOD
• Managing the content base in large organization
• Strengthening the security by denying access to different classes of users to different parts of
a web portal A main page for LemonIT created by default
• A team home page for each individual project
•Roles that various network administrators play – We facilitate ABSTRACTION
