I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Sean McConnaha, who taught in my
classroom at Hamilton Middle School from February 1 to May 7, 2013. During his twelve weeks
here, Sean taught five sections of eighth grade English and a sixth grade reading class.
Sean shows a natural aptitude for designing high-tech lessons that promote critical thinking. During
his first unit he taught my class how to design our own wikis, a lesson that turned out some of the
most amazing and advanced products my students created all year. He then taught a unit exploring
the science fiction genre. That unit culminated in a paper and speech exploring the science of our
near future. During these units he shared his own teacher website, where students could check
lessons and unit rubrics along with daily objectives.
My students loved Mr. McConnaha's willingness to choose fun and relevant research topics. He
excels at assessing the personalities of a class and modifying his lessons to fit their needs. Sean has
a great deal of common sense and intelligence; he conducts herself with professionalism and
poise. My students picked up on those strengths right away and were quick to treat him with
respect. They were all extremely sad to see him leave at the end of his instruction time.
In summary, Sean is a committed and competent educator. I believe he will be a valuable faculty
member for any school in need of a high quality teacher. I endorse his candidacy
