This document summarizes a study on the prevalence of Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) infection in the Indian poultry industry. Serum and choanal swab samples were collected from commercial layers, broiler parents, and broilers across different regions in India and tested for MG using ELISA and isolation methods. The results showed high seroprevalence of MG antibodies in flocks across all regions, ranging from 70-85%. Isolation methods found MG in 10-18% of individual samples. Prevalence was highest in layers and broiler parents. The study concludes MG infection is widely distributed and causes significant economic losses, warranting strategies to control its impact on the poultry industry.
