Editor's Notes

  1. Being in this room with such eminent educationists is quiet humbling. And many of you here have set up schools, started new curriculums. A SCHOOL IS MORE THAN JUST CLASS ROOMS OR BOOKS, ITS BOUT THE EXPERIENCES THAT THE TEACHERS BRING WITH THEM, THAT IS WHAT MAKES THE CURRICULUM ALIVE. Imagine a school run only by freshly minted teachers, who may be PhDs or Post graduates, but teachers with no experience. A lot of you must have recruited teachers from different cultures, parts of the country and the world in a bid to make the experience more global. But there is a wealth of experience that is being wasted because you are not being able to bring it to the classroom. This wealth belong to you, THE SCHOOL, and has been nurtured by you from Kindergarden, I am talking about seeds that you have sown, I’m talking about your Alumni. .
  2. A 96% scorer in CBSE who wanted to join IIT, he didn’t crack the JEE exam in the 1st attempt and like many others in his batch, got compelled with the trend and dropped a year. He doesn’t know right now that only 3% of those who drop out make it to IIT in the 2nd attempt. Debang, then joined JEE Coaching, preparing for the uphill climb again. Even though he fell in the category of 97% of students who didn’t make it in the 2nd attempt, he thankfully did fill out forms for other colleges as well in the 2nd attempt. He his now studying in VIT. Imagine, If Debang could connect with a senior and understand that only 2 % students make it to the IITs in the first attempt and 3% in the second attempt, then he would be able to have a realistic skill assessment and also understand the need to create back up options and apply for admission in other colleges as well the first time around and not waste a year.
  3. Ananya, who prepared and studied hard for her SAT, applied to USD because she had heard about the scholarships they offer. She cracked University of Denver with a scholarship of ………….. However, did not join USD! She was unaware of the hidden fees that she still had to pay for Rs. 10,00,000 which her parents could not afford. Unfortunately, she did put all her eggs in one basket, and did not apply to other colleges. Leaving her with no other option but to drop a year. Even if a student gets a 100% scholarship, it doesn’t mean free education. It takes someone who ahs been there and done that to talk about the implicit cost of an education abroad. Imagine if Ananya had a senior who could talk to her and advise her to create back up options well in advance, she would have save a year….
  4. Across 400 schools in the country, we have seen, the avg drop out rate is 24% i.e. 1 in 4 students is dropping out, not because they wanted to self explore…. They didn’t get the right guidance. You have stories like this in your school every year. Every year, students drop out How can you bring the experiences of one batch and translate it to your following batches? We are wasting a wealth of experiences, this is your wealth….just like you bring in unique teacher experiences, are you bringing in unique real and first hand experiences … This is possible. enable juniors to find and connect with relevant seniors to mentor their juniors at the click of a button.
