Once, Miss Crow stole a piece of cheese.
Mr. Fox saw Miss Crow fly over with the cheese in her beak.
“I want that cheese,” thought Mr. Fox.
When Miss Crow landed upon a branch of a tree, Mr. Fox sat down beneath the tree and called,
“Good Day, Miss Crow!
How well you are looking!
How bright are your eyes!
How glossy are your feathers!”
Miss Crow was soooo pleased! She loved to be flattered.
“I am sure your voice is even more beautiful than your feathers,” continued the clever Mr. Fox. “Won’t
you sing a song for me, O Queen of Birds?”
Miss Crow was so very pleased that she could hardly sit still she lifted her head high, closed her eyes,
and opened her beak to sing: “CAW-CAW-C-CAW-W-W……….
Instantly, the cheese fell to the ground, right in front of Mr. Fox, who picked it up at once.
“Thank you Miss Crow,” he said to the unhappy bird.
“In exchange for your cheese, I will give you a piece of advice: Never trust a flatterer!
Once upon a time, there lived an old lady crow. She was very mean and ugly. One day, Miss Crow stole a piece
of cheese.Soon, she flew on to a branch to eat it. Mr. Fox noticed what Miss Crow had done.Under the tree, Mr.
Fox, who wanted the cheese for himself, came up and spoke politelyto her. "Oh, Miss Crow, how pretty you are!
What a lovely beak, what awesome feathers you have! What sweeteyes! If only you could sing, you would be
the mostbeautiful bird in the world!" Very pleased to hear all of this aboutherself,Miss Crow hopped on the
branch and gave a loud croak to show that she could sing.Of course, the momentshe opened up her beak, the
cheese dropped down, and Mr. Fox caught and ran away with it, laughing loudly.
