Dr Simon Duffy spoke in Dorset to disabled people, families, supporters, community and social workers and commissioners in an event sponsored by iDirect. In this talk he described a range of innovations that - despite a hostile public policy environment - are restoring community life. He explored the kind of approach to public policy that would help us empower citizens and create inclusive communities.
Can national policy address the problems of deprived neighbourhoods? What have been the successes and failures? This presentation illustrates a few of the issues - for some context, see my post here: http://livingwithrats.blogspot.com/2010/04/not-as-broken-as-you-might-think.html

Globalization: The Dark View By Swati NagpalSwati Nagpal
The presentation emphasizes on the negative aspects of Globalization by considering various economic, environmental, political and socio-cultural aspects. Socio-Cultural aspect has been taken as a primary parameter to present the view. Some solutions have been suggested as a way forward.

While studying at the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management, the primary focus was to develop MVP’s (minimum viable products) for possible and real-world business entities. Studio Visível was a concept predicated on the idea of local artisans connecting with local enthusiasts: the success and impressions the artists in our community leave. Our mission on this project was to create an atmosphere of artistic and interactive, social sophistication while increasing community awareness and support to local artisans. In short, we wanted to build an entire community arts festival under one roof.
As we mature; we realize that our SWADHARMA i.e. choicest activity in our life; is to explore and manifest; the hidden unity of the universe; and the harmony and complementarity; in the already existing organizations and institutions; through the study and practice; of Total Stress Management i.e. superliving, (the core of which is NAMASMARAN).

My presentation is based upon the book Bowling Alone: The collapse and Revival of American Community by Robert Putnam. I plan to draw on ideas and illustrations from the book in order to present how community involvement has declined in America over the last 50 years, why this trend is happening, and why reviving community is important. Finally, I will discuss why Ignite Phoenix is an important step towards reviving our sense of community and urge the audience to bridge the gap from virtual community involvement to physical involvement.

The amount of usability testing tools on the market is just staggering and now there's even more for testing on mobile devices. How do you know where to start or what to use? In this session, I'll share my experience with testing different mobile apps and websites and review some of the more popular tools and methods that are available for conducting usability testing on mobile devices (remotely and in-person).
