In 1498 Portugal established
small trading posts around the
area.A trading post is a store or
small settlement established for
trading generally in a closed off
place.They were used to displace
Arabic commercial and
hegemony. Finally, when they
took over, Mozambique started to
use them.

$10-23.5 billion is stolen from the global economy each
year. $35 million of that comes from Mozambique. This loss
in money comes from illegal fishing throughout Africa. The
government of Mozambique ratified the FAO Port State
Measures Agreement which states that people are not
allowed to do unregulated fishing(not that it will stop
them:)They are the 3rd African State to ratify the Port State
Measures Agreement(PSMA).Twenty-Five parties have to
sign the agreement before it will go into effect.
4. European Influence By: Nishka Kumar
In 1498, Portuguese discovered Mozambique, and colonized it. First, it was trading
settlements, then colonization. The portuguese introduced their own customs to
Mozambique.

wildlife-crime.aspx
Monday July 6th, Mozambique destroyed
2434.6 kg of ivory and 86 pieces of rhino horn
weight 193.5Kg. This burn shows that
Mozambique is getting tough on wildlife crime
and is prioritising conservation and wildlife
protection.Mozambique is implementing
several measures to crack down on wildlife
trafficking. This was the world’s first major
destruction of seized rhino horn. Mozambique
will not tolerate poachers, traffickers and the
organised criminals which employ and pay
them to kill our wildlife and threaten our
communities.

6. Mozambique: Mdm Criticises Mayor of Nampula Current Event Summary
Maputo — The opposition Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM) has criticized the mayor of
he northern city of Nampula, Mahamaudo Amurane, himself a senior MDM figure, for attacking the
arty over corruption.A week ago, Amurane accused the MDM of waging a campaign to damage
is image, The MDM wanted to denigrate him, he claimed, “because I will not do deals with
orruption”.According to a report in Monday's issue of the independent daily “O Pais”, the MDM
as now responded, criticizing Amurane for attacking the party as a whole rather than naming the
ndividual members responsible for the alleged campaign against him. After a meeting in Maputo
n Sunday, chaired by MDM leader and mayor of Beira Daviz Simango, MDM parliamentary deputy
Silverio Ronguane told reporters “we have no doubt that the way in which our colleague presented
is arguments was unfortunate, because he accused the entire MDM”.This dispute erupted in late
anuary when the Nampula delegation of the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption
GCCC) ordered the detention of 11 staff of the Nampula Municipal Council, including the city
ouncilor for finance, on charges of falsifying documents. Seven were arrested, and the other four
ave gone into hiding. All 11 worked in the Nampula City single attendance counter (BAU), which is
upposed to smooth the path for businesses applying for licences, permits and the like.
According to the GCCC, those detained were involved in a scheme to forge invoices, receipts and
ther documents, and pocketed the money paid by users of the BAU.According to “O Pais”,
Amurane led this drive against corruption, and provided key information to the GCCC. Relatives of
hose arrested demonstrated outside the Nampula provincial prison, where they were being held,
nd some claimed that the money stolen had gone into the pocket of Amurane himself, for a house
e was supposedly buying in Portugal.Amurane said it is true that his children are in Portugal -
ut he told reporters he is renting a house for them out of his own money, and these payments
ave nothing to do with the municipality. He could show reporters invoices for this rent.Ronguane
aid the MDM leadership agrees with the way Amurane had handled corruption in the municipality,
nd urged the central government to follow his example.“We are also against these members (of
he MDM)”, he said. “The Mayor of Nampula went further, he showed who they are, and now they
re detained so that the institutions of justice can investigate whether they did indeed commit this
rime of corruption”.Ronguane added that, while “impunity reigns” in much of the country, when it
omes to corruption, “we in the MDM have been able to admit that we have some corrupt people
mong us”.The MDM Sunday meeting was held to discuss preparations for the 2018 municipal and
019 general elections. Ronguane said the MDM feels the need to prepare well in advance.“We're
ow on the countdown to 2018”, he said. “Obviously any party that wants to win must prepare”.
The mayor of Mozambique was accused of attacking the party over corruption. He states
“,because i will not do deals with corruption”.

Villagers had been trying to illegally siphon fuel from the
truck on Thursday when the explosion happened, according to the
government. But provincial officials said the accident occurred

caught fire after being struck by lightning.

8. Mozambique is Developing

Literacy Ratehttps://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-
8#safe=strict&q=literacy+rate+in+mozambique&*
In 2013, the literacy rate was 87.4% which
is not bad, but they should be a little bit higher. In
ages 15-24 only 67.15% can read. They should
increase the literacy rate in the youth. This
shows a sign of the education to the youth. This
shows that Mozambique is still developing, and
need to put more effort in the education.
The Literacy rate needs developing,
but that's not all, the health of Mozambique is
just another thing to worry about.
Healthhttps://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-
8#q=health+in+mozambique&*
Main health issues start with the
young. The young are in serious danger with all
the diseases. sleeping sickness, tuberculosis,
cholera and leprosy. The biggest threat is
malaria. This definitely shows that Mozambique
is developing, and is in need to fix the health in
their country.
9. Mozambique Is Developed By:Minerva

10. Prediction on Mozambique future
The approx. life expectancy for a human is 41.2 years at birth. All hospitals are around where people live so it is
easy to get around to the hospital when you need to.The health rate in the chart below has gone up and down
majorly and as of 2013, the health rate has increased. This is why I think the health will get better.
