• Inflation Rate (2021):
4.09%
According to an article on
Reuters, the rise of food and
energy prices in Nepal
pushed their annual inflation
rate to a near 6 year high
just as the country was
recovering from lost tourist
dollars during the peak of
the pandemic.
15. INFRASTRUCTURE
Nepal has limited
infrastructure but
arrangements to expand by
2030 are underway.
Construction is in progress
to enhance hydropower,
irrigation, and highways and
build new airports, railways,
highways and cable cars.
There are also plans to build
"smart cities" with modern
hospitals, energy-efficient
apartments and electric
vehicle charging stations as
well as bring high-
speed broadband internet to
100% of the population.

REGULATIONS
To film in Nepal, one must apply through the
ministry of information and communication of
Nepal in accordance with the Motion Picture
(Production, Exhibition, and Distribution) Act,
2026 B.S.
Multiple documents are required to be sent
including a letter from a local coordinator,
authorization letter, application form, film
script, crew member
details, itinerary, equipment list, and possible
consent letters from certain organizations if
filming in specific areas.
20. COVID-19
Impact and
Restrictions
• Movement Restrictions: There is currently no
restriction for movement within Nepal. Local and
private transportation are easily available.
• Everyone is encouraged to avoid gatherings and
follow strict measures to prevent spread of COVID-
19. Violations of local orders may result in penalties.
• Fines for Mask Non-Compliance: Failure to wear a
mask outdoors may result in arrest and a fine.
Information about penalties has yet to be published.
• Some shifts in certain sectors of the economy, but
comparative to other countries, 2020 was not a
reasonably bad year for Nepal's economy.
• Numerous countries suffered more substantial
losses. The tourism sector was the hardest hit,
decreasing by around 70%.
• The unemployment rate rose from 3.1% to 4.7%.

22. Why Nepal?
Nepal is a country of incredible natural beauty with the most spectacular
mountains on Earth. Home to the Himalayan mountains, it features the
world's 14 highest mountain peaks including the tallest in Mount Everest,
known locally as Sagarmatha. The country offers a gorgeous setting for
mountaineering, hiking and filming.
