Intro:
Discuss
What is a collage? What materials can be used to make a collage? Is
a collage two-dimensional or three-dimensional?
After the group discussion, students write a short definition of what
they think collage is or develop a group definition.
Activity
Pupils create a collage using the definition of collage as a starting
point. Give pupils no restrictions in terms of size and materials.
Discuss the individual collages- scan / photograph.

“Roy Arden’s ‘Sweeper’ is a collage made from all of the remnants
swept from the floor of his studio. After making their collage, pupils
sweep up the area they have been working in and make a new
collage from those pieces. How does the experience differ? Which
way of working do they prefer?”

Art room prepared with different still life set ups for students to
photograph. Close ups and wider shots. Students also photograph
empty wall space in north wing.
Images are saved on Art Shared for teacher to print before next
lesson.
2 Work from previous lesson is printed- Students use this and images
from food magazines to collage new compositions.
3 Final collages are completed, photographed / scanned.
Discuss work in relation to Letinsky’s intentions.
