Sasha is applying to join a trip to the Czech Republic. She introduces herself as an open-minded law student from Ukraine who is interested in experiencing Europe and practicing her Czech language skills. Sasha claims she can teach skills like bicycling and guitar playing quickly, though acknowledges she may not be able to do them herself. She is looking for an active and fun adventure before adult responsibilities begin and hopes to meet others interested in a reckless lifestyle.

1. *Because one photo wouldn’t be enough.
Hi! Hey! Hello! Ahoj!
This so-called self-presentation*
2. • The letter.
Wow! Congrats! You’ve finally found really motivated applicant! My name is Oleksandra
Kovalenko. For you and only it’s Sasha.
Why you should take me to the SU? The reason is that I’m open-minded, so open-minded
that I try to never narrow it:)
I heard you need a person who has a physical ability of not sleeping for several days while
being enthusiastic at the same time, this is totally my rhythm of life. I can do all the
extreme-conditions things like building a tent, lightning a fire, catching a fish with the
serious professional approach and to share it with the humanistic. There are some other
skills that should be helpful. I can teach how to ride a bicycle within one hour . I can also
teach how to play guitar within 30 minutes. And cook pancakes within 15. I can’t really
make it myself , but is it important?;)
I’m from Ukraine and the trip to Europe is kind of symbolic in a context of the Europe-
connected transformations in our society, would be great to know the point of view about
the situation in the country from outside and to bring this experience inside.
Another thing, you know, I’m a law student , so sometimes I’ve got things to do, that’s
why I don’t always manage to finish some activities. In fact, I'm interested in the trip to
Czech Republic for the reason I learnt a bit of a language this year, but ..how to say that..
I haven't succeed in it a lot.. So, Počkejte pro mě! I’m coming. Slibuji, že budu učit. You
see, I definitely need practice ;) Also, I have the special notebook with a nice photograph of
Prague for the memories so I'm all ready to go. And I already told my Grandma that I'll
bring her those waffles, so, please, do not disappoint her!
Sсope of my interests includes the wide range of music, films and dances. I enjoy a company
of the idea-makers while tasting cuisines.
I have only several summers left until the obligations of the grown-up life will come and I'm
waiting to meet reckless adventure-lifestylers, who are ready to rock this country. Don’t
worry , the architecture will be fine, nobody will get hurt. I’m honestly very starving for
the active rest and fun. Hope to see you soon!
3. If you are not impressed yet, here is my
photo in a basing suit. I was 14 then.
So, there is a risk that I look like that right
now
But you are not afraid of taking risks, aren’t
you?;)
