2. The plan Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. My cousin Deanna and I wanted o do something great for our mothers. We decided to bake and shop. We would bake red velvet cake and we each would buy them a shirt.
3. Red Velvet Cake We started baking. We added the ingredients 3 eggs 1 ¼ cup of water 1/3 cup of vegetable oil And then mixed it. The box said we need one 8-inch diameter pan.
4. Red Velvet Cake Our 8” diameter pan was 4” in height The cake turned out to be 1 ½ inch in height How much in volume is the cake? Hmm? 1 1/2” 8”
5. Red Velvet Cake Volume is base area x height base area ∏R2 Height, h = 1 ½ If the diameter is 8”, the radius is 4”. 4” x 4” is 16”. 16” x 3.14 = 50.24”. Now, we times 50.24 and 1.5 ( this is because 1 ½ equals 1.5). Which equals 75.36. Therefore the volume is 75.36 inch3. One job done!!! base area of cake
6. Shopping Next, we went to MACY’s because that was the place our mom’s buy their clothes. When we went there, we found many items were on sale. Mostly 20%, 25%, and 50%. Deanna had found the perfect one, and I found 3 items I thought my mom would like. The problem is I only had $20 dollars, which one cost the least? The original prices were $36, $40, and $29. The $36 was 20% off, The $40 was 50% off, and The $29 was 25% off. Now at first I thought that the $29 shirt cost less, but my dad corrected me, the $40 cost less. When I did the math I founded the $40 minus 50% is $20. $29 minus 25% is $21.75. $36 minus 20% was $28. 8 I ended up getting the $20 shirt.
