Mona Lisa is a famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci of Lisa Gherardini. Da Vinci used a technique called sfumato to softly blend colors, leaving some areas like the fingers on her left hand unfinished. The painting was stolen in 1912 but recovered after 10 years. It has suffered some damage over time from being thrown at and has been analyzed using advanced lighting techniques to study its layers. It is now valued at over $5 billion and housed in the Louvre museum in Paris.
