Moieciu commune is located in Brașov County, Romania and consists of 6 villages. According to the 2011 census, the population was 4,892, mostly Romanian and Orthodox. Rural tourism has grown in the area due to its proximity to Bran Castle. Bran Castle is a national monument located near Brașov, commonly known as Dracula's Castle though Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure Bram Stoker's Dracula was based on, only had tangential associations with it and Stoker's descriptions do not match the actual castle. Vlad the Impaler was the ruler of Wallachia between 1448-1476 and was known for his brutal acts of war, including impaling his enemies.
