2. Moieciu, sometimes misspelled Moeciu, is a
commune in Braşov County, Transylvania, Romania,
consisting of the villages of Cheia, Drumul Carului,
Magura, Moieciu de Jos (residence), Moieciu de Sus
and Cave.
In recent years, much rural tourism has
developed in the area, a favorable factor being the
proximity to Bran Castle.
The commune of Moieciu is one of the three
administrative communes that make up Bran Zone:
• Bran,
• Moieciu,
• Fundata.
3. It was precisely because of its special importance, after the
occupation of Transylvania by the Hungarian kingdom, that it
ordered the construction of Bran Castle as a point of guard and
defense in the passage of Bran.
The climate of the area is temperate continental, with heavy
winters, shorter and cooler summers, with varying precipitations
that fall all year round and with irregular winds. The
hydrographic network is well developed, all the rivers of the
commune being tributary to the tributary river Bârsa affluent of
Olt.
The commune of Moieciu is located in the Barsa Country,
which is nothing but the south-eastern extremity of the
largest intra-mountain depression in Romania - Brasov
Depression - and occupies the south-eastern extremity of
the county with the same name. Facing the city of Braşov,
Moieciu commune is situated 28 km on the road connecting
Braşov to Campulung Muscel and Piteşti
