Gandhi was a man of immense faith who believed in achieving independence for India through non-violence and truth. He was influenced by Hindu texts like the Bhagavad Gita and believed in concepts like non-possession and equality. In South Africa, he faced discrimination which led him to fight for civil rights through non-violent protests. He established ashrams in India and South Africa to model self-reliant communities based on his principles of non-violence, equality, and simplicity. Gandhi led the non-cooperation movement and campaigns of civil disobedience against British rule. Hindu sacred text Bhagvat Gita greatly influenced him and hence he took an oath of purifying
himself by the concepts of Aprigraha- Non Possession and Samabhava- Equality and he
developed ideas of 'Ahimsa' and started his belief of achieving freedom through non-violence.

'Phoenix Settlement' (inspired by the book "Unto this Last" by John Ruskin) An ashram
as a model of a non-segregated community—where people, whether white, black or
‗coloured‘, could live together without conflict; where the values he respected would be
put into practice—equality, tolerance, dignity of labour, simplicity and self-reliance.
A settlement with the Ideologies that inspired him in Bhagvat Gita wherein the dwellers
could eliminate ones needless possessions and create a society in which equality and
faith prevailed.
8. Sabarmati ashram that focused on similar principles as the Phoenix settlement but had an
added component of liberating India from colonial rule.
9. SATYAGRAH – ―TRUTH FORCE‖
In his book "Hind Swaraj Enroute- that is a critique of colonialism and western civilization" , He
explains that the universe is run by two forces that are the 'soul force' and the 'truth force' which can
be described in detail as the force of Love.
10. The international hero received a grand welcome in his homeland
where he finally decided to return after his struggles and triumphs
in South Africa.
11. He was one of the magnetic leaders who took an active part
in the Indian freedom struggle.
12. Gandhi is Revered for bringing ethics into the political aspects of
the country and he is considered to be a man of principles
unmatched. A man who never demands of others what he did not
first demand of himself.
13. "As soon as India Accepts the Doctrine of the
sword my life as an Indian is finished. It is
because i believe in a mission special to India.“
" I therefore venture to suggest to my learned
countrymen that so long as the doctrine of non
cooperation remains non-violent, so long there is
nothing unconstitutional in the Doctrine."

15. He was arrested at Sabarmati Ashram for Sedation of young India and sentenced to a 6
year Imprisonment at the 'Great Trial' in Ahmadabad court.

was a young Hindu Nathuram Godse.
