This document provides instructions for modeling an involute ZI worm in 3D CAD using SolidWorks. The steps include drawing the worm's base diameters and tangent, adding a sketch plane through the tangent, drawing a line at the lead angle on the base diameter, drawing a helix with the worm's lead pitch, and using a surface sweep to create the involute helix flank surface of the worm. It notes that this creates a theoretical surface and an actual produced worm would have a root protuberance from the manufacturing tool not represented in this basic model.
