This document describes a study conducted to develop the first comprehensive interactive mobility model for travel within Venice. The researchers collected pedestrian count data from 29 bridges and boat traffic data. They also studied special events. An autonomous agent-based computer model was created that simulates pedestrian and boat movement. The model can be used to study impacts of city planning decisions and emergency evacuations. It provides Venetian planners with a tool to analyze situations that cannot be tested in the actual city. The study resulted in the first integrated model of pedestrian and boat traffic mobility throughout Venice.
