Martin Luther King Jr. was an excellent student who started university at age 15. He married Coretta Scott and they had 4 children together. His campaigns against segregation and for equal civil rights are now commemorated on the US federal holiday MLK Day, celebrated annually on the third Monday of January. Some of his most famous speeches include "I Have a Dream" and "I've Been to the Mountaintop", where he advocated for a future where all people could live freely regardless of race. He was assassinated in 1968 by James Earl Ray.
