This document provides an introduction and outline for a presentation on cataloging music audiovisual materials using RDA. It introduces the Music Library Association and Online Audiovisual Catalogers, their relevant committees and best practices documents. The presentation outline covers work and expression-level metadata such as relationships between works, expressions, creators and contributors. It also covers manifestation-level metadata like publication information and physical description. Examples are provided to illustrate concepts.

Musical Meetups Knowledge Graph (MMKG): a collection of evidence for historic...Alba Morales
Knowledge Graphs (KGs) have emerged as a valuable tool for supporting humanities scholars and cultural heritage organisations. In this resource paper, we present the Musical Meetups Knowledge Graph (MMKG), a collection of evidence of historical collaborations between personalities relevant to the music history domain. We illustrate how we built the KG with a hybrid methodology that, combining knowledge engineering with natural language processing, including the use of Large Language Models (LLM), machine learning, and other techniques, identifies the constituent elements of a historical meetup. MMKG is a network of historical meetups extracted from ∼33k biographies collected from Wikipedia focused on European musical culture between 1800 and 1945. We discuss how, by providing a structured representation of social interactions, MMKG supports digital humanities applications and music historians’ research, teaching, and learning.

RDA (Resource Description and Access) is a new standard for describing library resources, designed to replace AACR2. Library staff, including public services, systems personnel, and catalogers, may have heard mention of RDA but not know much about it or how it will change their daily work. You may have many questions. What is RDA? We'll give a very little bit of history and theoretical background. What is this going to mean for catalogers, ILS managers, and users in the near term? What are the future implications, or, why are we doing this? What are the juicy bits of controversy in cataloger-land? And finally, Do we HAVE to? We'll talk for a while, have some activities that get you thinking, and find out your thoughts on RDA.

Permettez moi au cours de cette session de vous éclairer sur cette culture et également sur les coulisses de la création des musiques assistées par ordinateur (MAO), et de voir ensemble les relations intéressantes que l'on peut tisser avec nos pratiques du développement logiciel (Software Craftsmanship).
On a pu lire quelques analogies entre pratique des musiques jazz, somme toute une musique très classique, et la pratique du développement logiciel tel que nous la concevons tous ici ("agile" diront certain). Pourtant il y a bien des façons de faire de la musique et en tant que spécialistes de la programmation j'ai été étonné de constater que peu d'entre nous s’intéressent à la musique dite "électronique". Pourtant, dans ces musiques aussi, nous nous servons d'outils logiciels au service de notre inspiration et notre créativité. On retrouve l'approche incrémentale, la technique imposée par les machines, des patterns évidemment, mais aussi de la pratique répétée, de l'amélioration continue et la coopération quand nous formons des groupes collaboratifs.
Au cours de cette session, après les généralités d'usage, je vous montrerai un DAW (digital audio workstation) logiciel, très couramment employé, et pas que pour la musique électronique, j'ai nommé "Live 9" d'Ableton avec sa surface de contrôle dédiée: Push (une sorte de clavier multi-fonctions pour la musique). Live est également extensible grâce à Max MSP, une API de programmation qui permet de scripter/patcher ce logiciel sous bien des formes.

The site has constantly had to be upgraded and updated to reflect the changing internet technology over its 10 year history.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects.
