sięga 1431, kiedy to za panowania Bolesława V, księcia
opolskiego, w dokumencie nadającym grunty i zezwolenie na
zbudowanie karczmy Mikołajowi Czenarowi, po raz pierwszy
została wymieniona nazwa Zawiercie. W XV w. następuje rozwój
hutnictwa żelaza (kuźnice). Od XV do XIX w. Zawiercie miało
wielu właścicieli. Na przełomie XIX i XX w. utrwaliły się dwie
nazwy Zawiercia: Zawiercie Duże – rozmieszczone wokół drogi
biegnącej do Poręby i Zawiercie Małe – położone po prawej
stronie Warty przy drodze wiodącej do Marciszowa. Pod
względem administracyjnym Zawiercie Małe było wsią – gromadą
przynależną do gminy Kromołów. Funkcje administracyjne w
Zawierciu pełnili sołtysi w ramach samorządu gminnego.
