We’re really excited about a new integration product: Laserfiche Connector. LF Connector lets you leverage Laserfiche in your other line of business applications.
LF Connector simplifies integrations, allowing anyone to connect their external line of business applications with Laserfiche. The core point of integration is imageEnabling - Bring up documents in Laserfiche, based on what's currently shown in your external application.
Using the information displayed in your external application, you can: Run searches through the Laserfiche desktop Client, Web Access, and WebLink; Launch Scanning through the Laserfiche desktop Client and Web Access, auto-populating name, path, and field values; or Launch an external application, allowing you to make use of the displayed information in any way you might want to, such as passing parameters into an application you've developed with the Laserfiche SDK. Users can launch Laserfiche Connector either through an icon overlay - which I'll show you in a minute - or a pre-defined hotkey.
Laserfiche Connector is compatible with Web, windows desktop, and Java runtime applications. A full list of confirmed applications can be found in the help files, constantly updated as we get feedback from our resellers and beta customers.
Social BPM Preview: Moving on from Connector, I’m excited to talk about a brand new Laserfiche application – Laserfiche Social BPM. So, what is this new product?
What is Social BPM: At its core, Laserfiche Social BPM is a collaboration website. It gives employees in your organization a central place to ask questions, discuss topics, and make announcements. How many of you have used Laserfiche Answers? For those of you who haven’t, Laserfiche Answers is our online community site where Laserfiche users can share ideas, ask questions about the process, and share resources. I highly recommend you check it out. It’s a very active and helpful community.
With Social BPM we’ve made the engine underlying Laserfiche Answers available to your organization, and we hope it provides you with a way to have discussions about your internal business processes. We are actively working on expanding and growing this product. The core features are fully tested and available to you (it’s not a beta), but it’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of where we’re hoping to take this product.
Share Internal Information: Let’s see what it looks like. As you can see, if you are familiar with Laserfiche Answers, you are already going to be familiar with this website as well. The collaboration website is a place to gather organizational knowledge in one location. You already put all your documents in Laserfiche, so why not put your organizational knowledge in Laserfiche as well – all of the conversations on this site can also be backed up to your repository for archiving.
Our own development team has been actively using it to discuss our new features and provide information to employees. Here you can see that Sierra has posted information on how to access meetings remotely. Since Laserfiche has offices all over the world you can see this information has been accessed a lot and is greatly appreciated.
Discuss and Decide: The User Education team at corporate has been using Social BPM to talk about our own internal processes. Here we see a discussion about which software we should use to create white papers. People had several comments and ideas. When we reached a solution, we were able to mark it as the Answer and it moved to the top of the comments section. I really like this feature because before solutions would get hidden in email threads. I was also able to subscribe to this thread so I didn’t have to check the site several times a day for updates.
Email Notifications: Instead, I got email notifications on my schedule.
Embedded Document Viewer: One of the coolest things about Social BPM is that you can view attached documents inside social BPM. While you’re discussing and asking questions, you can upload relevant publically accessible documents to the thread. Here I’m looking at a Word document, and I can see all the content, zoom in, continuously scroll, and download it if I need to. Along the right I can see the discussion right next to the document. [Pause here] Note that this feature is for publically accessible documents that are relevant to the discussion, the documents can be archived with the conversation in the repository, but while they’re on the Social BPM site the documents are not governed by Laserfiche security.
We're currently exploring adapting this viewer into some of our other web products as well, so hopefully that's something I can show you in a future release.
Laserfiche Social BPM is great for sharing organizational knowledge and sharing ideas, but it also really shines by letting you share information about processes.
FAQs Next to Forms: With an eye toward discussing processes, we’ve brought Social BPM into Laserfiche Forms. Here you can see questions, answers, and information about the form, right where you need it – next to the form. All those questions like, how much can I expense for meals on my expense reports, how quickly will my request be processed, what happens after I submit the form, who do I contact about X? are answered here. If I have a question that’s not answered here, the Ask Question button brings me to Social BPM. Once my question has been answered, it’ll appear here so other people can benefit from the knowledge. This is a great way to address common questions directly on the form; users no longer have to guess or try to track down a specific person to find the answers.
We’re really excited about a new integration product: Laserfiche Connector. LF Connector lets you leverage Laserfiche in your other line of business applications.
Quick fields has intelligent processing, routing, metadata, etc.
Large toolkit that allows for very through image processing so that documents are captured clean and crisp.
Case file with several different document types. Sketches, cover page, pictures taken from the field, etc.
You can tell Quick fields to distinguish between different documents and then begin processing accordingly. This could be image clean up or pulling off key pieces of information for indexing and routing.
Maybe we want slightly different metadata on each of these documents…
Because case files are fairly standardized we can teach Quick fields to read the specific types of documents we’re bringing in. Once identified, it can grab metadata, name, classify, and store documents in the correct location.
Quick Fields Agent
Makes Quick Fields “hands-off”
Optimizing Laserfiche performance
Let’s you shift your workforce from people who are associated with scanning and move them to something more productive. Process, clean up, and file away. You don’t have to have someone sitting at a desk monitoring sessions. Your junior investigators have more important things to do.
*FLESH THIS OUT IN TERMS OF CASE MANAGEMENT*
Eliminate redundant data entry, do a lookup or pull data from an external database
What’s it good for?
Batch processing
Automating data entry &classification
Centralized processing
This is what a typical session might look like…
There are various components to the session I design on the left and the document viewer is front and center
Laserfiche regional user groups meet two to four times per year. They generally cover the latest/greatest or most interesting aspects of Laserfiche. Ideally, these groups are hosted and run by users. Ask users if any of them are interested in running and/or hosting future User Group meetings. They’ll have support from Sales (regional/district/account manager) as well as Marketing if they decide to run it as they get up and running.
Have users sign up for our Laserfiche Group on LinkedIn. More information regarding User Groups can also be found at the site listed above. This is mainly a networking event for Laserfiche users to share ideas and talk about what’s new with the product.
