Re: Recommendation for Brian Smith
Dear Hiring Manager:
I was immediately impressed with Brian Smith’s enthusiasm, communication skills and
technical background when I hired him as a Network Administrator. During the two years
Brian reported to me he consistently demonstrated all of the qualities and technical skills
that confirmed him as my first choice during the initial hiring process.
Brian is reliable, dedicated and eternally upbeat. His ability to work with upset, confused,
and pessimistic customers is absolutely unrivaled. At Minnesota Lawyers Mutual, Brian
was asked to oversee a variety of technologies and learn them quickly. Not only did he
succeed, he flourished. We quickly felt comfortable with Brian tackling any systems
issue that came his way. If he didn’t know the answer, he knew where to look, who to
contact, and how to find a resolution. He exudes a sense of ownership and responsibility
that is rare in IT.
Where others falter while working with vendors and consultants, often allowing them to
pass-the-buck or not deliver, Brian does not. He’s not afraid to ask hard questions to
make sure that problems are fully resolved and that he is satisfied he knows what
happened and why.
It quickly became clear after hiring Brian how valuable he was to our team. Very rarely
do we in IT hear praise for the jobs that we do. Not so with Brian. To this day I’m taken
aback at how many people, on an almost daily basis, told me what a huge asset Brian
was. Brian is that rare individual who absolutely puts his heart into everything he does
and puts the company’s needs before his own in every decision he makes.
There are many IT candidates available to fill support positions today with varying
technical proficiencies. Technical skills are not a rare talent. That said, I have never met
a single person better at dealing with people than Brian Smith. Whether it’s internal staff,
executives, or customers, I’ve never felt more at ease than when Brian was helping them.
I can’t recommend Brian enough for any position he’s applying for. If you have any
additional questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Sincerely,
Clint W. Lechner
