The document describes the Min-Novation project, which brings together mining sector stakeholders to promote innovative approaches to mining waste management. It establishes pilot units in Estonia, Finland, Poland and Sweden to test recovery of waste from oil shale, coal and other mining. The Estonian unit will be a mobile crusher to process oil shale waste rock into aggregate or backfill. The Polish unit will crush and screen coal mining waste to recover products. The Finnish unit will characterize and modify materials using analytical techniques. Updates on the project are available through the website, newsletters and upcoming conference.
