Topic; Solid State
What is Solid state?
●
Solid is a state of matter in which the constituent
particles are very closely packed together.
●
A solid is that state of matter which has a fixed shape,
mass, and volume.
Properties of Solids
●
Solid has a fixed shape and a fixed volume.
●
Solid cannot be compressed.
●
Solids have a high density.
●
Force of attraction between the particles in a solid is
very strong.
●
The space between the particles of solids is negligible.
Interparticle in Solids
●
Interparticale force of
attraction is highest.
●
Interparticale space is
least.
●
The molecules of solid
are attracted together and
vibrated at thier fixed
position.
Examples of Solids
bricks and other building materials, like concrete,
wood and glass;
dry ice or frozen carbon dioxide;
ice;
most metals;
most minerals;
rocks; and.
salt.
