An electrical short circuit is the most common cause of accidental fires and occurs due to over current, insulation failures, human contact or over voltages. 100% of electrical short circuit fires are caused by the poor knowledge or carelessness of electricians. A regulated power supply is important for electronic appliances to provide constant DC power, which is typically achieved through an AC-DC converter using a rectifier, filter capacitor and regulator IC. The project designed a 12V power supply with a short circuit indication add-on circuit to detect shorts, immediately switching off the power supply to protect components.
