Nanyang Technological University School of Art Design and Media Building Scie...Adila Zaas
Nanyang Technological University's School of Art, Design and Media building utilizes various passive design strategies to create a thermally comfortable environment for occupants. These include a curved green roof that absorbs heat from Singapore's intense sun and helps cool the building, a central courtyard with fountains and cascading water, and high-performance double glazed glass curtain walls that minimize heat transfer. The building's orientation, materials, landscaping and ventilation were carefully designed according to climate analysis to provide natural lighting and thermal comfort without mechanical cooling.
Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, known as Le Corbusier, was a Swiss-French architect who designed the Chapel of Notre Dame du Haut in Ronchamp, France between 1950-1955. The chapel is located on a hilltop site with scenic views and featured expressive curved and textured concrete walls that give it an organic appearance. Inside, daylight filters through narrow slits in the walls to create a dramatic play of light and shadow throughout the space. The chapel demonstrates Le Corbusier's experimentation with form and light in his later works.

Tadao Ando is a renowned Japanese architect born in 1941 in Osaka. He is self-taught and known for his minimalist concrete designs that emphasize simplicity and empty space. One of his most famous works is the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth from 2002, which consists of five floating pavilions surrounded by a large reflecting pond. The museum makes heavy use of concrete, steel, glass and natural light to blur the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces and integrate the artwork with its natural surroundings.
This document summarizes Jean Nouvel's Institut du Monde Arabe building in Paris. It provides background on Nouvel and his philosophy of merging insider and outsider perspectives. The Institut du Monde Arabe was a collaboration between Arab countries and France to showcase cultural fusion. Nouvel's design features two volumes around an inner courtyard, with distinctive north and south facades made of aluminum, glass and intricate windows. The building utilizes light, space and circulation elements like a glass atrium to create varied interior effects.
The document discusses the Bauhaus movement, an influential art and design school that operated in Germany from 1919 to 1933. It provides a brief history of the Bauhaus, covering the periods when it was located in Weimar, Dessau, and Berlin. Key characteristics of the Bauhaus style are simplicity, minimalism, open floor plans, and an emphasis on functionality and new technologies. The document also examines the use of color, lighting design, and outdoor/indoor connections at Bauhaus schools. It lists some of the influential teachers and provides examples of Bauhaus furniture design and materials.
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe born Maria Ludwig Michael Mies; March 27, (1886 – August 17, 1969) was a German-American architect. He was commonly referred to as Mies, his surname. Along with Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius and Frank Lloyd Wright, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of modernist architecture. Mies was the last director of the Bauhaus, a seminal school in modern architecture. After Nazism's rise to power, with its strong opposition to modernism (leading to the closing of the Bauhaus itself), Mies emigrated to the United States. He accepted the position to head the architecture school at the Armour Institute of Technology (later the Illinois Institute of Technology), in Chicago
He worked in his father's stone carving shop and at several local design firms before he moved to Berlin, where he joined the office of interior designer Bruno Paul. He began his architectural career as an apprentice at the studio of Peter Behrens from 1908 to 1912, where he was exposed to the current design theories and to progressive German culture. He worked alongside Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius, who was later also involved in the development of the Bauhaus. Mies served as construction manager of the Embassy of the German Empire in Saint Petersburg under Behrens.
Ludwig Mies renamed himself as part of his transformation from a tradesman's son to an architect working with Berlin's cultural elite, adding "van der" and his mother's maiden name "Rohe" (the word mies means "lousy" in German and using the Dutch "van der", because the German form "von" was a nobiliary particle legally restricted to those of genuine aristocratic lineage. He began his independent professional career designing upper-class homes.
sought to establish his own particular architectural style that could represent modern times just as Classical and Gothic did for their own eras. He created his own twentieth-century architectural style, stated with extreme clarity and simplicity. His mature buildings made use of modern materials such as industrial steel and plate glass to define interior spaces, as also conducted by other modernist architects in the 1920s and 1930s such as Richard Neutra. Mies strove toward an architecture with a minimal framework of structural order balanced against the implied freedom of unobstructed free-flowing open space. He called his buildings "skin and bones" architecture. He sought an objective approach that would guide the creative process of architectural design, but was always concerned with expressing the spirit of the modern era. He is often associated with his fondness for the aphorisms, "less is more" and "God is in the details".
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help alleviate symptoms of mental illness and boost overall mental well-being.
The Azuma House was one of Tadao Ando's earliest works. It is a concrete box split into daily living spaces around a central open-air courtyard. The courtyard acts as a hub, separating the living room from the kitchen/dining area and bathroom. Upstairs, bedrooms are located on either side of the courtyard, accessible by a bridge. The house shows a blind facade to the street with only a door indicating use of the space within.
Al Hamra Firdous Tower is a 412.6m tall skyscraper located in Kuwait City, Kuwait. It has 77 floors of office and retail space, making it the tallest building in Kuwait. The unique twisting geometry was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill to maximize views while minimizing solar heat gain. The solid south facade features limestone cladding to reduce solar radiation, while transparent north facades offer panoramic Gulf views. The tower's sculptural form reflects the local landscape and won several international architectural awards.
Bernard Tschumi designed the Parc de la Villette in Paris between 1984-1998. The park houses cultural venues like a symphony hall, cinema, and science museum. Tschumi's master plan features a grid of "follies", or abstract steel structures, intended to disrupt expectations of a traditional urban park and encourage exploration. The park's design emphasizes movement through space and embodies architectural deconstructivism by lacking historical references and changing in response to visitor use.
The document discusses architectural concept development. It defines concept and explains why it is important for designs to have a clear concept. It then provides examples of how to develop concepts through inductive/deductive reasoning, considering needs and symbolism. The document outlines dimensions a concept should address and ways to translate concepts visually and verbally, such as through sketches, models and drawings.

Le Corbusier was a pioneering modern architect from Switzerland who developed five key principles of modern architecture. Some of his most notable works that exemplified these principles included the Villa Savoye built in 1931, which featured pilotis supporting the structure above the ground level and a roof terrace. Another work was the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts built in 1963 at Harvard, which inverted the five principles by expressing them on the exterior rather than interior of the building. Both works featured open floor plans, horizontal windows, and detached facades not bound by the structure.

Arazinin tekirdağ yönü girişi'nde at ve eşek kiralama noktası konumlandırılmıştır.

ması temel ilke olarak benimsenmiştir. Üzerinde yaşadığımız toprakların zenginliğinin yaşatılması,yaşanması amacı ile ;
her açıdan izlenebilir hale getirmek amaçlanmıştır. Kullanılan rampalar sayesinde engellilere de kullanım kolaylığı sağlanmıştır.
4.1.3. MALZEME VE STRÜKTÜR
-Tüm mimari ( kapalı-yarı açık-açık ) mekanlar gerçekleştirmek üzere ; -CLT Ahşap / cam / taşıyıcı / bölücü, -Ahşap panel / duvar / pano duvarı, kullanılması önerilmektedir. Tüm sistemde, çok
önemli zorunluluklar olmadıkça ''beton'' kullanılmayacaktır. Yapıların tamamında bölgesel malzemelere çağrışım yapmak için geleneksel anlamda ahşap kullanılması önerilmiştir. -Toplumu
lik anlamında zahmetli bir is haline gelecektir.

Çelik olarak kolonlarda HE 600 A, kirişlerde ise
HE 400 A kullanılmıştır.
