Migrating any codebase can be a daunting task. Where do you start? At Netflix we recently overhauled our entire codebase for the website to React and Node.js. Our goal was to migrate to a new codebase to iterate at a faster pace, but during migration we didn’t want to slow down innovation on new features. Along the way we learned how to improve the process and make sure we didn’t negatively impact the user experience. I'll be sharing a few tips and learnings to help make your next migration easier and more effective.

ASOS has been improving its world for the last 8 years. It has grown from 2 teams in 2008 to over 50 in 2017, increased revenues massively in the same period and then embarked on a major re-architecture of its codebase with a large emphasis on cloud. This talk is about how we have approached the evolution of DevOps during that period – some of the mistakes we have identified and how it’s so not about tools but people, getting good people to care about Platform Engineering and engendering that behaviour in to teams.
Cypress
Cypress is a testing tool that allows for fast, easy, and reliable testing of anything that runs in a browser. It differs from other tools in that it does not use Selenium, focuses on end-to-end testing, works on any front-end framework, uses only JavaScript for tests, and runs much faster than other options. Cypress tests the application as a real user would and allows debugging of test flows. It also supports plugins, common commands and assertions, and has a similar syntax to unit testing frameworks.

The Anatomy of Continuous Deployment at Scale
Envato runs one of the world’s highest traffic websites, Themeforest.net, which is 1 of the 8 sites served by a 2-sided e-commerce platform called Envato Market. The Envato Market engineering team juggles serving around 30,000 requests per minute whilst automatically deploying changes once every 30 minutes across a team of 50 developers that contribute to the one codebase.

Artificial Intelligence for XMLDevelopment
In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup.
