Double standards and racial bias are some of the biggest problems in the United States. Martin Luther King junior had this vision of People being judged by their personality instead of their skin color. He wished that there were no race boxes and that everything was color blind so that people did not face racial bias. It is unfortunate that people still use race as a factor when making decisions. Race preferences are wrong. It should be a thing of done with the past. There is a double regular in America .if you are black it is there was no questioning to be racist, but it is not okay when a white person says an offensive thing to a black person. It is considered to be racial. It’s okay to have organizations that allow black people only, but it would not be okay if an organization only had white people. It’s okay to have racist black entertainment channels in the United States, but it not very much okay to have a channel only for white people. The thought that only black people could present black, and white people only represent whites is outrageous. People should not choose their leaders because of their skin color, but they should consider their beliefs and ambitions.
Applicable Sociological Concepts. The socio-psychological theory lets us understand the human behavior and thoughts. Old-fashioned racism has replaced by a different form of racism. Unlike the old fashioned racism where people could feel the racism around them, the new racism is symbolic and not easy to notice. In fact in the American society many people believe that the racial equality is committed to diversity. Dislike is not a form of racism, but conscious hatred of people due to their race is only insufficient. Racism needs to take into account.
Social-structural theory. Unconscious racism or structured racism needs to be taken account. All Americans share a historical culture whether black, white or Hispania. Blatant prejudice is the traditional form while the subtle discrimination is in modern form and is indirect. The African Americans prefer to call them Americans since they are also of the American community. Unconscious racism changes the moral obligations imposed by the commonwealth and the equality. We are not obliged to impose assumptions that are discriminatory. The determination of who is who and who is not white has fluctuated the over time
Principled politics. Americans are Multiracial, and all have mixed ancestry. They have a sense of self-identity both culturally and socially. After racial segregation there have been inter-racial marriages that allow blacks, whites, and other race.

The topic I have chosen is about the stigma and discrimination faced by the mentally ill youths in the society. Stigma occurs when an individual is viewed in a negative way because of their mental illness, while discrimination is the negative treatment toward a mentally ill person. What interested me to tackle this topic is because the society does not understand perfectly about mental illness. Stigma and discrimination is prevalent in our societies, and this makes matters worse and it could hinder the youths from accessing the help they need. The society should avoid the stigmatization of the mentally ill youths; they should first see the person and not their condition of being mentally ill. I hope to learn why people discriminate and stigmatize the mentally ill youths, and also the steps that could be taken to stop it. According to Shrivastava et al. (2013), stigma and discrimination cases are prevalent in mentally ill people’s lives, and it is one of the greatest blocks to regaining a normal health and lifestyle.

Introduction
As a godmother of 3 young black boys I often think of their futures and that in today’s society at least one of them is expected to go to prison at some point in their life brings me to tears. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, one in three black men can expect to go to prison in their lifetime.
While people of color make up about 30 percent of the United States’ population, they account for 60 percent of those imprisoned. The disproportionate rates of incarceration in communities of color are a direct reflection of racial disparities in the criminal justice system in the United States.

· This issue fits into the field of sociology, as it is about the disparities brought about by race. The black community is being discriminated by the white community in the United States because of its race. This is being exhibited inequality exhibited by the criminal justice system. It does make sense that the minority community in the nation will make up the majority number of people in prisons. There must be something wrong, which is eventually leading to this. Either, the blacks are being unfairly arrested and sentenced, or the whites are being favored during sentencing, thus getting simple penalties (Alexander, 2010). It can also be assumed that the resources are unevenly distributed, whereby the blacks are unable to get them in order to sustain themselves. This eventually leads them to crime, thus ending up in prison. This conforms to the conflict theory which says that the society is composed of groups fighting for the limited resources. In the end, the community with more resources also acquires power, which it uses to control those with little resources. In this case, the white community has a lot of resources, hence power, thus using it to control the blacks, who have very little resources. This has in turn led to the whites being more favored than blacks.
· This discriminationis manifested in various forms. For example, in schools, black students are easily suspended or given harsh punishments for doing simple mistakes. This is unlike their white counterparts, who receive weak penalties. For instance, when a black student fails to complete his or her assignments, she is usually awarded zero grade. This is not usually the case with the white students, as they are usually given more time to finish the assignments. In 2006, two students happened to fight while in school. One was black while the other one was white. The white student ended up injuring badly the black student as he was older than him. When the incident got to the school administration, the black boy was suspended for 1 month, despite being injured. The white student on the other hand was only told to come with his parent the following day. The black student had been .

- 1. Liang Wu Professor FYS 100 6/16/2014 The racial discrimination and conflicts have been a big issue in United States. Although other countries and region also have the same problem, but the condition in America seemed more serious. The reason is America is a melting pot, and it is an immigration country. As a result, there are many people who from different cultures live in United States. At the same time, people with different color lived together in this country. Due to this factors, misunderstandings and conflicts always possible between these different groups. For example, white Americans often misunderstood black people. According to the news, a black people was killed by policeman because he take out his wallet in the street. Maybe policeman thought that the black man take out his weapon. The police officer had mistaken him for crime. This accident reflect significant racial issue in the America. In the video, there is an experiment of racial discrimination. Two group of volunteers are in this experiment. One side is black people, they play the role of audiences. On the other side, white people play the role who was charge by the color of their eye. White people was divided into two groups, blue eye and brown eye, and people with blue eye should apologized because of their blue eye. The professor are trying to get the people who participate in this exercise to find a way to solve racial issue rather than quite. All the volunteers feel struggle when they are treated unfair. Finally, they have the same feelings which black people have, and they think they will do
- 2. something next time when they see someone was discriminated by others. White people always have the choices, but people with color do not have. All in all, this experiment have important influence on these students.
