Azure Load Balancer – 10x scale increase
The Standard SKU adds 10x scale, more features along with deeper diagnostic capabilities than the existing
Basic SKU.
Reserved
Clustered and NonClustered Columnstore indexes for Standard databases.
- S3 and above pricing tiers.
Columnstore indexes are designed to be extremely efficient for queries which do scans and aggregations
across millions and billions of rows of data. They are fundamentally different structures, which physically
group data by column, rather than by row.
Machine-assisted text classification
Content Moderator
Content Moderator is part of Microsoft Cognitive Services allowing
businesses to use machine assisted moderation of text, images, and
videos that augment human review.
Now includes a new machine-learning to identify possible abusive,
slang, abbreviated words, offensive, and intentionally misspelled
words for review.
DNS Private Zones
Secure and reliable name resolution for your virtual networks in Azure
- Name resolution across virtual networks and across regions
- Split-horizon support
.
Soft delete for Azure Storage Blobs
When turned on, soft delete enables you to save and recover your data where blobs or blob snapshots are
deleted. This protection extends to blob data that is erased as the result of an overwrite.
How does it work?
When data is deleted, it transitions to a soft deleted state instead of being permanently erased. When soft
delete is on and you overwrite data, a soft deleted snapshot is generated to save the state of the overwritten
data. Soft deleted objects are invisible unless explicitly listed. You can configure the amount of time soft
deleted data is recoverable before it is permanently expired.
.
Azure database services for MySQL and PostgreSQL
The GA milestone means that, starting today, these services are bringing the community versions of MySQL and
PostgreSQL with built-in high availability, a 99.99% availability SLA, elastic scaling for performance, and industry
leading security and compliance to Azure.
Azure Event Hubs integration with Apache Spark
Event Hubs users can use Spark to easily build end-to-end streaming applications.
Spark Streaming and Structured Streaming are scalable, fault-tolerant stream processing engines. These
processing engines allow users to process huge amounts of data using complex algorithms expressed with high-
level functions like map, reduce, join, and window. This data can then be pushed to file systems, databases, or
even back to Event Hubs.
Azure Service Health
Personalized dashboard that provides guidance and support when issues in Azure services affect you.
Service issues – ongoing issues.
Planned maintenance – upcoming maintenance activities in Azure that will affect your resources.
Health advisories – summaries of recommended actions to prevent downtime.
Health history – past service issues that have affected the health of your resources.
Azure Files share snapshot
Share snapshots provide a way to make incremental backups of Server Message Block (SMB) shares.
Incremental and fast – Only changes made to the base data are stored in the snapshot.
Familiar experiences – There are many ways to browse and restore data from snapshots including “previous
versions” in Windows, Azure portal, storage explorer, Storage SDK, and REST APIs.
SQL Data Warehouse in 33 regions
Additional regions
- Japan West,
- Australia East,
- India West.
Application Security Groups
Network security micro segmentation
ASGs enable you to define fine-grained network security policies based on workloads, centralized on applications,
instead of explicit IP addresses. Provides the capability to group VMs with monikers and secure applications by
filtering traffic from trusted segments of your network.
