To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Andie Neumann and I am the Post Production Coordinator for
Hawaii 5-0. I work directly under two Producers and alongside three editing teams,
composite VFX artist, and graphic artist at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. We work
60 hour weeks, 10 months out of the year to produce a very high quality, hour-long police
procedural on CBS. This job can be incredibly stressful and strenuous at times; it takes a
very specific type of personality and skillset to be able to successfully adapt. One such
person, who was able to do this with poise, is the reason I am writing you this letter
today.
I had the pleasure of working very closely with Micaela Hernandez over the
course of three months at the beginning of this, our sixth season. Micaela came to us as
an intern, looking to further expand her knowledge of the inner workings of the
entertainment industry.
From her very first day, Micaela presented herself with confidence and
intelligence. She was quickly able to grasp incredibly complex concepts and immediately
able to apply them to tasks we had assigned her. For example, in every script, there are
elements that only Post Production has the capacity to create. We produce everything you
see on any monitor, visual effects, song licensing, voiceovers, etc. I explained to Micaela
some of these elements and had her go through a script to see what she could find. In one
attempt, she was able to identify every single Post-related element perfectly, even finding
a few that I myself had missed. This one task showed me the kind of learner she was. She
listens to and absorbs absolutely everything around her and in a world as busy as Post,
that can prove to be difficult to accomplish.
Micaela learned skills and concepts from every person in our office. She sat in
with our editors and asked intelligent, well thought out questions. She watched as our
composite VFX artist tracked movement and finalized monitor comps and was able to
concisely articulate what she had just learned. In three short months, she obtained a
wealth of knowledge that I know would impress her peers and potential employers.
Above all, Micaela came to us with the right attitude. She was excited, positive, and
eager and that goes a long way in this industry.
In conclusion, I believe whole-heartedly that Micaela Hernandez would be an
indispensable asset to any employer or educational institution. Please feel free to contact
me by phone or email if you would like any more information.
Yours truly,
Andie Neumann
