EpiTect® Methyl qPCR System
The Epitect Methyl qPCR System, using MethylScreenTM technology, is an innovative technology enabling fast and accurate detection of CpG island DNA methylation profiles of individual genes as
well as disease or pathway related gene panels. This technology
replaces the tedious & low-throughput bisulfite-based methods
with a simple restriction digest and quantitative PCR. The reliability and simplicity of the procedure make this technology an ideal
tool for profiling DNA methylation and biomarker development for
the study of stem cell growth and differentiation as well as cancer
and other human diseases.

EpiTect Methyl qPCR Assays Yield Results Identical to
Bisulfite Sequencing. The methylation status of the cadherin

1 gene (CDH1) was determined using either bisulfite sequencing or
EpiTect Methyl qPCR Assays in three different breast cancer cell
lines known to have very different CDH1 methylation patterns.

EpiTect Methyl qPCR Assays Detect Hypermethylation
in Heterogeneous Samples Containing As Little As Five
Percent Tumor DNA. SKBR3 breast cancer cell line and normal
blood genomic DNA (encoding hypermethylated and unmethylated
HIC1, respectively) were mixed in different ratios. Using Human
HIC1 EpiTect Methyl qPCR Primers, the percentage of hypermethylated HIC1 relative to total promoter DNA in each mixture was
detectable even down to five percent.
