Vintage
Festival is the major event
 During the grape harvest seasons, there is a calendar full of cultural
activities, including harvest and folk festivals in each counties of the
province. Since January, Mendoza prepares itself to celebrate the
Vintage Festivals, which takes place the first Saturday of March.
Born as the popular celebration for the harvest, this festival goes
back to the immigrant times, who used to celebrate the end of their
labour and wine making with dances and songs, giving thanks for
the Mother Nature´s kindness. In that opportunity, the prettiest
woman was chosen as the national Queen of the Vintage and
crowned with wine leaves and grape clusters. This simple homage
was the inspiring source for the current celebration that Mendoza
revives every year. The Vintage Festival is the country major event
since 1936.
