According to his biography, during his 1911 vacation in
Switzerland, author X came across a postcard that attracted his
attention. It featured a painting called Der Berggeist, meaning
"the mountain spirit".
The painting depicted a man with a long white beard, a large hat,
and a cloak, seated amongst boulders in the forest. Later on, this
postcard inspired X as he was creating his character Y, especially
in terms of appearance. Y went on to play a key role in X's most
famous novels.
Identify X and Y.
03
Certain theories suggest that an iconic song X was recorded in a
bathroom to create an echo effect. Reflecting back, the singer
blatantly squashed those rumours. In her words, “There is a
false mythology surrounding my rendition of X. That Naushad
Saab and I got the echo effect in the song by making me sing in
the bathroom of the recording room. No such thing happened.
During those days when songs were recorded with a huge live
orchestra, the studios were stuffy enough. Singing from the
bathroom would have been impossible.”
ID the song which stands as landmark in Indian Cinema with a
fearless choice from the production team at the time.

A collaboration between the sci-fi writer A.C. Clarke and
Kubrick, the movie had a fascinating aspect about its antagonist,
which both the men maintain as a mere coincidence. Company
X was consulted during the production and had its logo on
multiple props, but it insisted on maintaining its distance from
the actual malfunctioning hardware in the plot of the movie.
Clarke wrote in The Lost Worlds of 2001, “About once a week
some character spots the fact that [coincidence] and promptly
assumes that Stanley and I were taking a crack at the estimable
institution… As it happened, X had given us a good deal of help,
so we were quite embarrassed by this and would have changed
the name had we spotted the coincidence.”
ID the coincidence.

There are many speculations regarding how the author came
up with the name X. Many speculated that it came from the
'oohs' and 'aahs' his stories produced from readers and
listeners. Some claim that it comes from the word 'ounces' or
Shelly's ‘Ozymandias’ or Charles Dickens' pseudonym ___.
Little evidence says that the author has taken the name X
from the letters marked on one of his drawers which he used
to keep files in the alphabetical order.
Give X?

X is a term meant to describe the circumstances under which
ground, naval, and air forces will enter into and continue
combat with opposing forces. Formally, it refers to the orders
issued by a competent military authority that delineate when,
where, how, and against whom military force may be used, and
they have implications for what actions soldiers may take on
their own authority and what directives may be issued by a
commanding officer.
However, X was shown in a certain pop culture where X were
implemented using tarot cards to set the final combat which
eventually decided the fate of the protagonist.
Id the pop culture reference.

Sweden saw a 10% increase in their inflation in May, and
economists believe X might be the reason for this. The chief
economist at Danske Bank, said that the singer’s decision to kick
off her world tour in Sweden last month led to a surge in hotel
and restaurant prices in the area as tens of thousands of fans
swarmed in the city.
The fans said that since they were unsure if X might be touring
again next, they had to attend this tour. Also, since Sweden was
cheaper than US, they chose Sweden to attend the show.
However, the economists believe that the inflation is short lived
and will die out soon.

Tom Kerr, a cartoonist by profession, is often credited with
the graphical innovation of ‘X’, a thought out of the blue at
that time, in the ever-popular sport ‘Y’. Although we don’t
see ‘X’ nowadays, back in the 1970s its introduction was
meant to keep young people interested in the game and at
the same time added a bit of fun by taking a dig at the player.
This also led to the British broadcasters refusing to cover
any game if ‘X’ were to be displayed during the broadcasts.
Identify the idea and the sport.

A popular old legend from a small town (X) in England says that
during the 16th century a king wanted to build his home in that
town on the condition that the inhabitants would have to donate
money for the construction. To avoid this from happening, all
residents of the town decided to act insane whenever the king’s
royal messengers came out to scope the town. Convinced that this
town was full of mad clowns, the king eventually decided against
the idea of building a home there.
Although the residents won, the town was forever marked as a town
full of insane people and came to be known as the “City of Goats”
with goats being the symbol of stupidity. Almost 400 years later,
this small town would inspired the name of a very different fictional
city having similar attributes.

Arrested Development is an American television sitcom
created by Mitchell Hurwitz. This show parodied an iconic
song by one of the most famous bands in their episode
"Making a Stand", as the narrator references the original
song as they were unable to get the rights to it, "because
who can afford it?". They replaced the original entity
referenced in the song title to another entity.
ID the title of the original song.

The phenomenon of the X effect was coined from a research
study where it was concluded that Chinese and Japanese origin
Americans had a greater death rate from heart disease on the
4th day of the month. This was attributed to the fact that both
Chinese and Japanese cultures regard the number four as
unlucky, and this superstition induces psychological stress that
manifests itself as heart fatalities.
The namesake from this effect was a fictional family whose
similar suspicious deaths were uncovered as conspiracy rather
than superstition by the revival of one of the most iconic
protagonists in early 20th century. A modern adaptation of this
plotline depicted the mystery in the form of hallucinogens.
What term X is given to this effect?

  • 5.
  • 6. 02 According to his biography, during his 1911 vacation in Switzerland, author X came across a postcard that attracted his attention. It featured a painting called Der Berggeist, meaning "the mountain spirit". The painting depicted a man with a long white beard, a large hat, and a cloak, seated amongst boulders in the forest. Later on, this postcard inspired X as he was creating his character Y, especially in terms of appearance. Y went on to play a key role in X's most famous novels. Identify X and Y.
  • 7. 03 Certain theories suggest that an iconic song X was recorded in a bathroom to create an echo effect. Reflecting back, the singer blatantly squashed those rumours. In her words, “There is a false mythology surrounding my rendition of X. That Naushad Saab and I got the echo effect in the song by making me sing in the bathroom of the recording room. No such thing happened. During those days when songs were recorded with a huge live orchestra, the studios were stuffy enough. Singing from the bathroom would have been impossible.” ID the song which stands as landmark in Indian Cinema with a fearless choice from the production team at the time.
  • 8. 04 The artwork shown is one of Alexander Ross's (American comic book writer and artist) most famous creations. It was also the inspiration behind the 2017 poster for the Justice League movie. • 10. 05 A collaboration between the sci-fi writer A.C. Clarke and Kubrick, the movie had a fascinating aspect about its antagonist, which both the men maintain as a mere coincidence. Company X was consulted during the production and had its logo on multiple props, but it insisted on maintaining its distance from the actual malfunctioning hardware in the plot of the movie. Clarke wrote in The Lost Worlds of 2001, “About once a week some character spots the fact that [coincidence] and promptly assumes that Stanley and I were taking a crack at the estimable institution… As it happened, X had given us a good deal of help, so we were quite embarrassed by this and would have changed the name had we spotted the coincidence.” ID the coincidence.
  • 11. 06 There are many speculations regarding how the author came up with the name X. Many speculated that it came from the 'oohs' and 'aahs' his stories produced from readers and listeners. Some claim that it comes from the word 'ounces' or Shelly's ‘Ozymandias’ or Charles Dickens' pseudonym ___. Little evidence says that the author has taken the name X from the letters marked on one of his drawers which he used to keep files in the alphabetical order. Give X?
  • 12. 07 The photograph here was taken as an inspiration for an album's cover. The photo is shot by Jonathan Mannion for a series by Jocelyn Bain Hogg depicting organized crime in Britain. Instead of the telephone and brass knuckles seen next to the ashtray in the original picture, a cigar, a pack of cigars and a microphone were placed. This album laid the foundation to one of the most iconic feuds in the rap industry and has achieved international acclaim and success. ID the album. (Image on next slide)

  • 14. 08 DaVinci’s world-renowned masterpiece, The Last Supper, has been said to hint at everything from Christ’s later years to the date the world will end. Italian musician Giovanni Maria Pala discovered what could very well be a little musical melody written into the painting. If you draw the lines of the staff across the painting, the apostles’ hands and the loaves of bread on the table are in the positions of _________. What do the hands and loaves of bread represent?
  • 15. 09 Amongst various English football figures of early 20th century was Herbert Chapman, widely regarded as one of the game's greatest innovators. During his time at Arsenal, he introduced several new training techniques and famously pioneered the X formation that serves as the foundation for most of the modern-day formations. Displayed on the next slide is a visual representation of the same, created to counter a law change in 1925 by playing three defenders(3-2-2-3) instead of two(2-3-5). ID the formation and what was the law change all about? (Image on next slide)

  • 17. 10 X is a term meant to describe the circumstances under which ground, naval, and air forces will enter into and continue combat with opposing forces. Formally, it refers to the orders issued by a competent military authority that delineate when, where, how, and against whom military force may be used, and they have implications for what actions soldiers may take on their own authority and what directives may be issued by a commanding officer. However, X was shown in a certain pop culture where X were implemented using tarot cards to set the final combat which eventually decided the fate of the protagonist. Id the pop culture reference.
  • 18. 11 Sweden saw a 10% increase in their inflation in May, and economists believe X might be the reason for this. The chief economist at Danske Bank, said that the singer’s decision to kick off her world tour in Sweden last month led to a surge in hotel and restaurant prices in the area as tens of thousands of fans swarmed in the city. The fans said that since they were unsure if X might be touring again next, they had to attend this tour. Also, since Sweden was cheaper than US, they chose Sweden to attend the show. However, the economists believe that the inflation is short lived and will die out soon. ID X
  • 19. 12 This painting by Sir John Everett Millais was his 1st exhibited work in Pre-Raphaelite style. This painting illustrates an episode from Boccaccio's novel 'Lisabetta e il testo di Bassilico'. According some art experts, there is a hidden meaning with reference to the position of the man on foreground left. As per their interpretation, the position of his legs, the presence of the shadow of a nutcracker which he held in his hands on the table and spilt salt over it signify a certain physical state of the person. What was the peculiar reason for that position? (Image on next slide)

  • 21. 13 Tom Kerr, a cartoonist by profession, is often credited with the graphical innovation of ‘X’, a thought out of the blue at that time, in the ever-popular sport ‘Y’. Although we don’t see ‘X’ nowadays, back in the 1970s its introduction was meant to keep young people interested in the game and at the same time added a bit of fun by taking a dig at the player. This also led to the British broadcasters refusing to cover any game if ‘X’ were to be displayed during the broadcasts. Identify the idea and the sport.
  • 22. 14 A popular old legend from a small town (X) in England says that during the 16th century a king wanted to build his home in that town on the condition that the inhabitants would have to donate money for the construction. To avoid this from happening, all residents of the town decided to act insane whenever the king’s royal messengers came out to scope the town. Convinced that this town was full of mad clowns, the king eventually decided against the idea of building a home there. Although the residents won, the town was forever marked as a town full of insane people and came to be known as the “City of Goats” with goats being the symbol of stupidity. Almost 400 years later, this small town would inspired the name of a very different fictional city having similar attributes. ID X.
  • 23. 15 Arrested Development is an American television sitcom created by Mitchell Hurwitz. This show parodied an iconic song by one of the most famous bands in their episode "Making a Stand", as the narrator references the original song as they were unable to get the rights to it, "because who can afford it?". They replaced the original entity referenced in the song title to another entity. ID the title of the original song.
  • 24. 16 The phenomenon of the X effect was coined from a research study where it was concluded that Chinese and Japanese origin Americans had a greater death rate from heart disease on the 4th day of the month.
